Business / Re: Conversation With Sanusi On "New" Currency Policy by leaderone(m): 1:41am On Aug 28, 2012
It is rather unfortunate to discover that intellectuals on this forum can be brainwashed by the sweet words of SLS. Let me make this clear, all he has said is TOTAL NONSENSE!!! It is disheartening that a man of SLS pedigree can give such reasons to support the introduction of the N5000 note.

1. It is clear SLS and his CBN do not do research or carry out investigations before coming out with policies and actions that will affect the common man. We Nigerians are by our very nature very resistant to change. Take for example the introduction of ATMs and debit cards. ATMs were introduced more than 10 years ago and we still have to force people to use their debit cards to transact rather than crowd our banking halls. How many of our people have accepted the alternate banking channels that will drive our cashless policy? VERY FEW!!. When the cashless policy was to be introduced SLS cited high cost of handling cash, encouragement of account to account transfers thereby ensuring adeguate transaction trail for audit purposes as some of the reasons... Infact a proven method of ensuring that customers use their debit cards and discourage over the counter payments was to pay customers with very low denominations over the counter and load your ATMs with N1000 notes. Bankers will attest to this! One would expect the same strategy to apply in this cashless area where the fear of payment with very low denominations will force individuals to use the cashless option. It will also be almost impossible for one to accept a bribe of N2,000,000 when it is brought in N50 bills (common sense), or perhaps for a politician to stash N20,000,000 away in N100 bill. Yet SLS is introducing N5000 bills which will create an avenue for corruption(ha! I forgot, SLS says its not his duty to fight corruption!!).

2. It is clear, the SLS and his team just sit in conference rooms, drink Tea and make policies based on assumption or perhaps the little they see at the airport while on their way in and out of the country with a total disregard for the facts on ground. They do not even bother to get honest and practical feedback on steps already taken, their successes and failings because if they do then the following would be very clear

A. The introduction of a higher denomination has always led to the disappearing of a lower denomination that had been turned into a coin. This is evident in the disappearance of the 50kobo and 1naira when higher denominations were introduced.

B. The fact that prices are always rounded off to the nearest note to avoid handling of coins which are just too heavy and cumbersome to carry. Or is he not aware that our bank vaults are currently filled with coins which customers refuse to accept as legal tender?

Politics / Re: Simplified Arguments RE: SUBSIDY by leaderone(m): 4:12am On Jan 12, 2012
@gabby tabby

Have been following this subsidy removal argument for a while now and believe me I have read and heard all sorts, however this particular argument by YOU is by far the most annoying.

ARE YOU seriously giving us such a stupid excuse? That do we expect GEJ to go after these corrupt importers and Govt officials?

WHAT Rubbish!!! What then is he doing there? You keep telling me that I have to pay because GEJ is scared of doing his Job? What did he expect when he asked us to vote for him?

That it was going to be a walk in the park? JESUS!!!

He has the Police, EFCC, ICPC, SSS, NIA, DMI etc and he is telling us he cannot fight corruption?

Then we are to sweat and give him an extra 1.3tri to squander away?

It is rather unfortunate that we live in such a nation. In the west, some of this excuses are grounds for speedy impeachment!!!

Let him resign if he does not have the balls to take the bull by the horn and do the needful

Please it is just past 4am, don't post such crap next time as it is capable of messing up ones morning
Career / Re: Who Knows Which Banks Are Best To Work In? by leaderone(m): 8:10am On Nov 03, 2010
@poster, Guy this your analysis is basically incorrect, i am presently trying to figure out if it deliberate or you're just IGNORANT.

you do not require a degree to know that the category of staff was not reflected in your so called chart. it is not a secret that 80% of staff in GT Bank are on contract and they receive lass than N1,800,000.00 per annum, these 80% are graduates who should be earning more, and it is evident that the survey only took into consideration the 20% who form the senior cadre of staff in the bank. which is a classic case of ROBBING PETER TO PAY PAUL.

In banks like FBN whose staff strength is about 5 times that of GT Bank, only 15% are contract staff. and most permanent staff receive an average of N3,000,000.00 per annum. Please do the math!!

SO THE QUESTION FOR YOU IS THIS, FROM WHOSE PERSPECTIVE ARE YOU MAKING THIS ANALYSIS?, IS IT FROM THAT OF THE BIG SHOTS WHO MAKE UP JUST 20% IN GT BANK OR FROM THE CONTRACT STAFF WHO ACCOUNT FOR THE 80%?.

PLEASE DON'T LET US DECEIVE OUR SELVES. AS A NEW GRADUATE SEEKING EMPLOYMENT IN GT BANK DO YOU KNOW HOW SLIM YOUR CHANCES ARE OF BECOMING A PERMANENT STAFF? PEOPLE MOST CERTAINLY START OUT AS CONTRACT STAFF.
Politics / Re: Deadly Bomb Blast: Presidency Accuses Henry Okah …okah Got $100 Million by leaderone(m): 6:25pm On Oct 02, 2010
reading the various reactions to the original thread, has been quite interesting, but i think we are missing a critical thing. Nigeria is very predictable, and its people very fast learners, in the past Kidnapping was a concept only seen in hollywood and mexican movies, later someone in the nigerdelta tried it and Now it has become a favorite past time, Militancy was usually attributed to the middle-east on CNN, suddenly SOme tried it here and now we have rehabilitation camps and reintegration programs to pardon millitants as we can not longer control them.

we used to see Terrorists on CNN Hamas etc. suddenly Bokoharam suddenly came up, Abdul multalab tried his and now Bombs are exploding in Abuja. I'M NOT A PROPHET OF DOOM BUT VERY SOON THE WHOLE NATION WILL BE IN CHAOS.

WE ENJOY GIVING EXCUSES AND URGING EVERYONE TO MOVE ON AND FORGET THE PAST, I SAY!! IF WE DO NOT TAKE THE BULL BY THE HORN AND COME UP WITH ACTIONABLE PLANS THEN I'M AFRAID WE'LL ALL PACK TO OUR VILLAGES COME 2011 AND EVEN THEN WE'LL HAVE TO HIDE IN THE BUSHES TO BE SAFE

We Nigerians are very funny, how can one compare Soludo with SLS, what is the basis of such a comparism. is it in terms of qualification, experience, foresight, intelligence or perhaps recognition.

FOR THE RECORD SLS IS A FOOL!!!, LET ME TELL YOU WHY.

1. THE FIRST RULE OF THE GAME OF POLICY FORMULATION AND IMPLEMENTATION IS TO HAVE A GRASP OF THE BIG PICTURE.
when SLS openned his big mouth and made those pronouncements, he showed that he did not even have a picture not to talk of the big one. does one need to have a PHD to know that it is fundamentally wrong to go on air with issues affecting national security. (yes NATIONAL SECURITY!!!) WHAT DO YOU EXPECT5 WHEN YOU TELL THE WORLD THAT SOME OF THE MOST VIBRANT BANKS HAVE GONE BROKE. OFCOURSE PANIC!!!.

THE MISTAKE WAS NOT SO MUCH WHAT HE DID BUT HOW HE WENT ABOUT DOING IT, WHY DID HE NOT QUIETLY PRESSURE THEM TO MERGE OR PERHAPS SELL OUT. THE CONFIDENCE IN THE INDUSTRY WOULD STILL HAVE REMAINED INTACT.

RIGHT NOW I WORK IN A BANK BUT SERIOUS SCARED OF LEAVING MY MONEY IN ANY BANK. HOW MUCH MORE THE INDIVIDUAL AND CORPORATIONS ON THE STREET.

if he was not sure what to do he should have asked for assistance.
LET HIM RESIGN PLEASE, HE IS A BIG DISAPPOINTMENT!!!
Politics / Re: Has Anybody Considered Ojo Madueke For President. by leaderone(m): 5:47pm On Mar 12, 2010
The original poster of this thread is obviously up to some form of mischief, on what basis is he asking such a question, or is the Ojo he is referring to any different from the fool who suggested we start riding bicycles as a solution to fuel scarcity while he was transport minister or the retard who disgraced us on bbc during hardtalk or perhap an Ojo different from the maniac on his way to saudi to thank the king for hiding the president and nearly destabilizing the nation. If its the same OJO MADUEKWE then I move a motion that we ban this joker from either initiating any thread or contributing to one on nairaland ever again

GOING THROUGH MOST OF THE POSTS ONE CAN SEE THE DIFFERENT SHADES OF UNDERSTANDING, PERSONALLY, THINK DORA IS BEING VERY COURAGEOUS, BELEIVE ME ITS MUCH MORE DIFFICULT TO BE THE LONE VOICE IN THE WILDERNESS THAN BEING A PART OF THE WHOLE PACK.

LET US LOOK AT THIS OBJECTIVELY, DEVOID OF SENTINENTS, AS MINISTER OF INFORMATION, SHE SHOULD BE THE FIRST PORT OF CALL FOR INFORMATION ABT THE PRESIDENT BOTH LOCALLY AND MOST IMPORTANTLY INTERNATIONALLY RITE? AND WHEN SAY THE U.S. SECRETARY OF STATES OFFICE CALLS FOR UPDATE, SHE IS EXPECTED TO LIE? BECAUSE ITS IMPOSSIBLE FOR HER TO SAY SHE DOESN'T KNOW? lipsrsealed

WHY ARE WE NIGERIANS SO MYOPIC? IT IS A MARK OF COURAGE AND INTEGRITY THAT ONE SHOULD CALL A SPADE A SPADE, WHY IS NO ONE ASKING WHY THERE IS SECRECY? WE ALL KNOW THERE IS A CABAL, THE PROPER THING IS TO CHART A WAY FORWARD. BELIEVE ME, IF THIS PEOPLE GET AWAY WITH ALL THIS STUNTS THEY'LL DEFINITELY TRY NEW ONES IN THE FUTURE, AND GOD FORBID IF THINGS GO TOO FAR.

THERE IS NO WHERE IN THE WESTERN WORLD TODAY WHERE THIS MESS WILL FLY AS IT IS HERE. WHAT WE SIMPLY WANT IS ACCOUNTABILITY.
EVEN IN THE U.S.A WHERE NATIONAL SECURITY CLAUSE IS INVOKED AT EVERY TURN SUCH NONSENSE WILL NOT OCCUR.

DORA IS DOING THE RIGHT THING BE IT WITH THE RIGHT INTENTION OR NOT.

IF ALL MEMBERS OF FEC WHERE LIKE THIS THEN THIS CABALS WILL HAVE THOUGHT TWICE IN STARTING THIS MESS.

SO PLEASE LET US STOP BERATING HER.

A HOUSE THAT IS NOT IN ORDER WILL DEFINITELY NOT THRIVE. IF NO ONE TALKS THEN THIS POLITICAL BRUHAHA WILL CONTINUE AD INFINITUM
