*Buhari wins Presidential Villa polling unit, coasting to victory* President Muhammadu Buhari, the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential candidate defeated Atiku Abubakar, presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) at the Presidential Villa polling unit. President Buhari beat his closest rival, Mr. Abubakar by more than 40 votes at the villa during the elections that held on Saturday, 23 February even as results began to trickle in from across the country. At the Presidential Villa polling unit 021, President Buhari won the votes by 47 votes. He polled 552 as against Mr Abubakar’s 505 votes but at Police Affairs PU, 022, Mr. Abubakar garnered 525 votes to President Buhari’s 465 votes. It would be recalled that former President Goodluck Jonathan lost both polling units in 2015 when he sought reelection against President Buhari. Results from across the country shows that incumbent, President Buhari, is in a comfortable lead with the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, expected to announce results latest Monday. President Buhari who had contested the presidential election on three previous occasions before winning the 2015 polls has vowed to take Nigeria to the Next Level with promises of more infrastructure, jobs, security and economic growth. He is seeking election alongside his Vice President, Yemi Osinbajo who voted at the Victoria Garden City in Lagos. President Buhari has led in most of the polls conducted locally and internationally, confirming the outcome of the elections. The incumbent president has scored big points at his polling unit in Daura, Katsina state as well as in the polling unit of Mr. Abubakar. At his Sarkin Yara ward A in Daura, he polled 523 votes to Mr. Abubakar’s paltry three votes. He then went on to defeat his challenger at his own polling unit, PU 012, Ajiya Ward, Yola. President Buhari’s APC got 186, 19 more votes than Mr. Abubakar’s 167 votes but one of his biggest victory came at the polling unit of former President Olusegun Obasanjo who is supporting Mr. Abubakar and has been a staunch critic of President Buhari. He defeated his opponent by a very comfortable margin garnering 87 votes as against Mr. Atiku’s 18 votes at the polling unit in Abeokuta, Ogun state. |
Buhari Administration remains firmly committed to Leah Sharibu’s release and rescue, says Presidency Our attention has been drawn to this report on the visit of Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, SAN, to Yola on Wednesday. The said report is a false narration and account of what actually transpired at the friendly and cordial interaction between the VP, the Adamawa State Governor and the Christian leaders in the State. On the contrary, the meeting, which was attended by several of Prof. Osinbajo’s personal friends and co-pastors, including those from the Lutheran Church and the EYN, Church of the Brethren, was conducted in a cordial and friendly atmosphere. There was no hostility or tension of any kind. It is also important to note that there have been previously many of such a meeting between the Vice President and Christian leaders, not only in the State, but across the country before and after the emergence of Prof. Osinbajo as the Vice President. Regarding Leah Sharibu, the only surviving one of the remaining five Dapchi girls, four of whom died after they were not initially rescued from the abductions, the Buhari Administration remains firmly committed to her release and rescue. We are working hard to secure her freedom and nothing will deter the Federal Government from that objective until Leah is free. This same Buhari Administration had secured the rescue and release of over 100 Chibok girls after years of abduction. Also, this administration secured the release of 105 Dapchi girls after their abduction on February 19, 2018. Our plan, prayer and hope is that the case of Leah and all others still under captivity would not be different. |

Atiku, US lobbyists conclude sale of NNPC The presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, Atiku Abubakar and some US lobbyists have agreed to the sale of state-owned and controlled oil company. According to a source close to one of the lobbyists who was actively involved in Mr Abubakar securing a temporary waiver on his visa ban in order to enter the US, a deal has been reached. The source who did not agree to be named said that the sale of the state-owned oil company was part of the deal that helped Atiku secure the waiver. “I can tell you that he (Mr Abubakar) and some prominent lobbyists entered into a deal before he came to the United States. “They have agreed that Nigeria’s state-owned oil company will be sold to a group of people including a Russian consortium which was very influential in bringing him to the US. Mr Abubakar has repeatedly stated that he will sell the Nigerian National Petroleum Company if elected President in the February 16 election. He also bragged that he will sell the company to his friends, adding that, he has a right to enrich his friends but not his family. In a Reuters report, U.S. government officials said Mr Abubakar’s travel ban was waived temporarily by the U.S. State Department after lobbyists mounted a campaign among congressional lawmakers arguing that the administration should not snub the leading challenger to Nigerian President Muhammadu Buhari in the Feb. 16 election. One person familiar with the matter, speaking on condition of anonymity to Reuters, said Atiku was allowed to enter because the United States saw little benefit to creating bad blood with the man who might be the next leader of Africa’s most populous nation and the continent’s biggest oil producer. Lobbyists hired by Atiku said they sought to overcome resistance at the State Department by securing support from members of Congress for the visit, as well as arguing that the top U.S. official for African affairs, Assistant Secretary Tibor Nagy, had an obligation to encourage democracy in the seventh most populous country in the world. Reuters reported that Atiku’s whirlwind visit to Washington last month was put together with the help of two U.S. lobbying firms. Holland & Knight was hired by Atiku personally in December to help him secure a visa, in part by enlisting members of Congress to request one on his behalf, according to a lobbyist for the firm. It has been paid $80,000 so far. Ballard Partners was hired by Atiku’s political party at a rate of $90,000 per month in September, before Atiku emerged as the party’s candidate, according to U.S. disclosure filings. The firm’s lobbyists worked to set up a meeting with Nagy, arguing it would show that the United States wanted to encourage free and fair elections in a country where graft is endemic. “We are not asking the administration or anyone to take sides, but to merely demand the same level of freeness and fairness,” Ballard lobbyist Jamie Rubin told Reuters. |
PROF. YEMI OSINBAJO, STAY OUT OF Justice Walter Onnoghen Case Apart from Chairing the National Economic Council, the relative power of the Nigerian vice president's office depends upon the duties delegated by the president. Why would you defend or support a civil servant that has over 1 billion naira in undeclared accounts? Why would You (VP) defend a CJN that forgot to declare such huge amounts of money in a government fighting corruption in all sector? (is ignorance now an excuse in law?) You are a SAN, VP and PASTOR, so don’t defend an alledged corrupt CJN claiming he forgot to declare different domiciliary accounts? As a seasoned lawyer, You should know better than speak on a matter that is already in court, that would be tantamount to interference of the justice system. I’m thus advising the VP to stay off this Issue. Comrade Chukwuemeka Immanuel

President Muhammadu Buhari will not be attending the presidential campaign organised by BON on Saturday 19 January instead he will be campaigning in Jos, Plateau capital. A source close to the Presidency told Chronicle NG that the president will not participate in the campaign, adding that, the President has nothing new to prove. “He was at The Candidates with Vice President Yemi Osinbajo and they gave a good account of themselves. “The President has also attended debates in the past and has proven beyond doubt that he is ready to serve Nigeria. Meanwhile, President Buhari on Saturday arrived Jos, capital of Plateau, in continuation of his nationwide Presidential Campaign rally on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC). NAN reports that the aircraft conveying the President and some members of his entourage landed at the Yakubu Gowon Airport, Jos at about 1.35 p.m. The president had earlier, before departing to Plateau, inaugurated the Baro Inland Water Port and addressed APC presidential campaign rally all in Minna, Niger. Governor Simon Lalong of Plateau and his deputy led a large number of supporters of APC to welcome the President and his entourage at the Yakubu Gowon Airport, Jos. Buhari is expected to pay a courtesy visit on the Gbong Gwom Jos, Jacob Gyang Buba before addressing the mammoth crowd of APC supporters at the Rampam Township Stadium. NAN reports that the president will also receive thousands of defectors from other political parties to APC. source: https://www.chronicle.ng/2019/01/19/buhari-shuns-presidential-debate-takes-campaign-to-jos/ Cc Lalasticlala Cc MissyB3 Cc Fynestboi Cc Seun Cc Mynd44 |
JUSTICE ONNOGHEN: A WORD FOR THE FACEBOOK LAWYERS First, Onnoghen has not denied the weighty allegations against him. He hasn't said that those acts are no corrupt acts. His only defence has been "ignorance" and "forgetfulness". He hasn't even pleaded political witch haunt; you have been the one pleading it for him. The head of the judiciary, which incidentally is what Onnoghen is, should be the first to inform Nigerians that ignorance is not an excuse in law. You are here excusing the CJN. You are here adducing all the conspiracy theories, and pleading "political motivation" as though those make an obvious corrupt practice and infraction to become any less offense. You are not even bothered about the curious humungous lodgements made in dollars, and the manner in which they were made? You never bothered that these could be payments for judgements bought? You never bothered that he chose not to mention those accounts and funds therein because he could not explain how he possibly could have made such staggering mind-numbing fortunes from his work and position? You still wonder why we support PMB? He's the only man that would never be swayed by your irresponsible wailing. He's the only Nigerian that would not be cowed by your organised protests to forestall the right actions from taking place. You did it when Justice Ademola, Justice Ngwuta, Justice Ajumogobia and co were exposed; you took up arms, you shouted desecration of the judiciary and blew all those big big grammar, but today, we know what has happened to them. Some started collapsing in the dock. If Justice Walter Onnoghen has a case to answer, and it does look like he has, brother, your shouting and wailing can never force PMB to intervene. Don't forget that he has ear infections. Till date, the infections have not been cured, so he will hardly understand that you are even wailing. Nigerian judiciary is smelling. If PMB does not back its clean-up and clensing, then we are doomed forever. Let Justice Onnoghen face his problem. If it's politically motivated, let him tell court: "I AM GUILTY, BUT MY TRIAL IS POLITICALLY MOTIVATED!" From Charles Kaye Okoye |
Buhari-Osinbajo will be re-elected - Jesusina A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Alimosho has stated that President Muhammadu Buhari and Vice President Yemi Osinbajo will be re-elected during this year’s general election. Omotola Jesusina, a member of the women wing in the biggest local government in Nigeria explained to journalists in Ikeja, Lagos that the achievement of the APC government in the last three years has been remarkable. She said before now Nigerians used to queue at filling stations with kegs in their hands to buy fuel but that Buhari has ended that barbaric way of life. “Before President Buhari came on board kegs and vehicles used to drag for fuel. In Alimosho, when they sell fuel for five kegs, they will sell for two vehicles, but those days are long gone. "First they brought 'Change' and now they are taking us to the 'Next Level', Nigerians need to be patient. “This government has done more for Nigerians than any other government since 1999. We can boast of a more reliable power supply, we can boast good roads like the Lagos-Ibadan expressway and we see the rail roads are coming. She said the Social Investment Programmes has had huge impact in Alimosho especially the TraderMoni scheme. “TraderMoni has been a success, come to Ikotun and Ejigbo market and you will hear the success story of the scheme. There is N-Power and the National Home Grown Feeding Programme which is coming to Lagos soon. “We must also not forget that this government is doing more things with less income. How much is crude oil? But look at the infrastructure across the country. Mrs Jesusina said the APC will also win by landslide in Lagos commending the choice of Babajide Sanwo-Olu. “If you look at the trajectory of Lagos, you will agree that it is a State that has been led by progressives and that is not about to change. “Our national leader Asiwaju Bola Tinubu began the work to put Lagos on the international map and Minister of Power, Works and Housing, Babatunde Fashola continued from where he left off. “Of course, no one can deny the mind-blowing achievements and progress the State has made under Governor Akinwunmi Ambode and I can assure Lagosians of more dividends of democracy under Sanwo-Olu. She praised hon. Kehinde Bamigbetan who is leader of APC in Alimosho for doing a good job to galvanise leaders and members of the party. “The party structure in Alimosho is solid and we are fully ready to ensure that both at the national and state level APC wins and by the grace of God nothing will change that,” she added.

Nigeria’s vice president, Prof Yemi Osinbajo has stated that Lagos state alone generates more revenue than 31 states put together. Speaking on at the legislative economic summit themed Legislative Framework for Economic Recovery and Sustainable Development at the International Conference Centre, Abuja today, he urged states to diversify and reduce the reliance on the center. Osinbajo who narrated how Nigeria gradually slipped in and out of recession suggested that an organised tax regime will possibly help States to be self sufficient. “Lagos, Rivers and Ogun States have shown what is possible with effective taxation and promotion of industry. “Lagos generates more revenues now than 31 States put together. The revolution started in 2004 when President Obasanjo seized the local government funds of Lagos State. FLOODING: ITS TIME BUHARI TAKES A CUE FROM TRUMP By Seun Bisuga President Muhammadu Buhari of Nigeria has failed to adequately tackle the flooding in Makurdi, Benue State Many things have been said of President Donald Trump of the US and most of them are rightly so but when it comes to the flooding in Houston and Texas, loquacious Trump deserves some credit. -7kg In 10 Days! This Natural Product Burns... Even if he is doing it for the camera, he has scored some points in my books. First he visited Texas and victims of the flood then he seconded Vice President Mike Pence to oversee recovery following the havoc wrecked by Hurricane Harvey. Hours ago, he donated $1million of his own funds to help victims who are in dire need of clothes, food and shelter. READ: Trump demands $5.9bn emergency flood funds, donates $1m And he is demanding that the Congress approves $5.9billion emergency flood funds. Now that’s a president who understands that every American life matters. Even by Trump’s standard that is an enviable achievement. If you ask me, I never thought I would have to ask anyone to take a cue from Trump until this happened. For Americans, what he has done might not be a big deal but for Nigerians it should be because Benue State is been ravaged by flood and the President does not seem to be tackling it proactively. For starters, I would understand if President Buhari cannot travel to Makurdi in Benue State like Trump did for two reasons. President Donald Trump visited Texas after flooding ravaged the state First, because of his health. He only just returned from London after a medical vacation and might still be recovering and secondly because he is a Muslim. He is expected to celebrate Eid with his family and friends. But what is the excuse for not sending Vice President Osinbajo? What is the excuse for not sending one of his ministers or aides? At this point, Makurdi flooding should be the most important topic on the minds of Nigerian leaders. We all are sitting pretty in our very dry apartments and relishing the thought of eating and drinking this Sallah while fellow citizens are gasping for breath in Makurdi. We are sleeping pretty in our duvets and watching the television while there are some citizens do not have electronic appliances anymore due to flood. They also do not have homes, clothes, food and many more. They’ve lost all what took them many years to build while the people they voted for are killing rams and cows while watching them suffer on television. This is simply unacceptable. Like Trump, Buhari should immediately demand emergency flood funds and get to work. Issuing a statement that the President have directed “National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) to immediately mobilize personnel and resources to come to the aid of the victims of the flooding” shows that the President does not place a premium on Nigerian lives like he should. He should not talk the walk, he should walk the walk. Nigerians need some action here. The visuals from Makurdi should send some chill down the spine of anyone who have got any human feelings. If the President wants to earn the respect of Nigerians, he should call on some senior members of his team and order them to report to Makurdi. Everything doesn’t have to be politicized. In Houston and Texas, we saw how US lawmakers reacted but in Nigeria they are no-show except for a handful that have mentioned it. The message is that we trivialize Nigerian lives and this has to stop if we want to earn the respect of the outside world. I think the President should immediately get to work now. Let’s take a second and think about this. That could have been you trying to navigate through the flood and watching your world nosedive before your eyes. It could be your family members, business or property in that flood right. I hope this government gets to work and save Nigerians in that flood. Taking a cue from African Americans, I say, Nigerian Lives Matter!!! Oluwaseun Bisuga is journalist, social media analyst and writer Twitter: @bisuclef |
