Well it depends on what you mean by planning. I don't know what. All I know is, there are Nigerians landing here in my area with NOTHING, some of them with a little, some are rich, what I've seen with my own eyes is after 2 to 5 years, they're settled and doing well even without Green Card or anything.

I started out in the USA over 30 years ago working illegally in a restaurant, many of my friends and acquintances from those days did the same, some drove taxis and are still driving taxis and have bought houses, married and sent their children to University, the kids have graduated and are independent, doing well, these are kids I used to babysit....and my state of NC is not the most hospitable for immigrants, go to NY, Cali or Mass and ILLEGAL IMMIGRANTS are treated like kings with all sorts of free services not available to even citizens. Yes, you read that right.

Anyone with the means to get out of Nigeria and travel to ANY Anglo-Western nation should take it immediately, there's only maybe 0.01% of Nigerians who can do better in Nigeria. The President of Nigeria and his family have basically been living abroad since 1982 till today, so what again is this argument about how Nigeria is paradise? Your President has made a LIE out of that argument. If you're among that 0.01% elite class of rich Nigerians, my advice is NOT for you.

I get it but those people put an entire lifespan to make thing's work, I meant those old immigrants.However look around, most of them are living average lives, some didn't even make it, and this was when things were easier, like easy to open account, work with fake tax documents, passport etc. Now, most of those opportunities have long been jettisoned.

One new Nigerian immigrant knocked on my door recently trying to sell me those electric and gas deals, if you hear how much he was lamenting and all the associated problems he has to overcome to even get some sense of stability on par with what he had in Nigeria, you will be shocked. Then there's this other guy who moved to the state's as a student , he used to argue with me about life being easy in the West, he has since changed his position, having felt the desperation of securing employment, high rental cost etc.

Public infrastructure, employment, credit facility's, social and legal protection is why abroad seems better but note thing's are changing.

Employment and housing have become increasingly difficult plus inflation... so the guys advice is correct , that's even if you had a plan, skill etc.
