Are you a NOUN student?

The NOUN students have been rejoicing since and their respective school VCs already informed them about this 2 days ago and they love it.

Politics / Tinubu Directs Inclusion Of National Open University Graduates In NYSC Scheme by LegendHero(m): 3:59pm On Apr 17
President Tinubu has directed the Federal Ministry of Education to formulate necessary modalities for the inclusion of National Open University (NOUN) graduates within the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) framework, particularly those within the service age bracket, as allowed by the law.

The president gave the directive during his presentation at the 13th convocation ceremony of the university on Saturday, April 13, 2024. at the University’s Convocation Arena, Jabi, Abuja.

Represented by Biodun Saliu, Deputy Executive Secretary, National Universities Commission (NUC), President Tinubu also disclosed the resolution of the longstanding issue regarding the admittance of NOUN law graduates to law schools in the country.

“With the changing demographics of our great nation, the government has recognised the importance of allowing NOUN graduates to participate in the NYSC scheme.

The president noted that the gathering was not just a celebration of the graduates’ academic successes but also highlighted the crucial role that Open and Distance Education (ODL) has in shaping the nation’s educational framework.

He therefore affirmed his administration’s commitment to enhancing ODL to expand access to higher education across the nation, emphasizing that the utilization of ODL is essential for meeting the 2030 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

“We will continue to do this in order to improve quality, access and affordability.

“Government is, therefore, committed through the Federal Ministry of Education and the NUC to provide the enabling environment to ensure a good delivery of this mode of education in Nigeria,” Tinubu added.

He acknowledged the challenge that many school leavers face in gaining admission to traditional universities and emphasized the necessity for enhanced research in technology at NOUN to accommodate more young school leavers and improve social safety nets for the people.

The president was pleased to note that NOUN has become a central figure in advancing the government’s commitment to achieving educational goals through ICT.

Sometimes lawyers advice their client to plead guilty so that they the judge can be lenient in his sentencing.

If they progress with the case and he's later found guilty, he may not get that leniency of minimum conviction.

In 3months thereabout, Bobrisky will be out going by Prison calendar which is a smart move by his lawyer for him to plead guilty.

Sometimes when things are open and clear to the eyes like this, it's best to admit on time and get the minimum than to stress the court and the judge issue you the maximum.

Exactly. I think the judge gave Bobrisky the minimum sentence according to the law.

Now if Cubana found guilty and no magomago, the judge might slam him the maximum punishment available for the offense and na longer jail term.

Lol, be like say these guys don’t understand the meaning of bail.

—Bobrisky pleaded guilty, so the case is straightforward.

—Cubana pleaded not guilty, he will be release on bail because of the of the kind of offense which is bailable.

—Then EFCC will now need to proof that he is guilty with all their evidence.

—Then if found truly guilty, the judge will now sentence him with at that point.

So why is he celebrating?

Yes, it was Onitiri group that sent them.

They lack strategy or probably they only did this to gain popularity. How can you go and attack a fortified government house on your maiden strike?

Yoruba will not be safe in the hand of tactless people like them. They should arrest them all and send them to prison for life.

Politics / Re: Nigeria’s Dollar Reserves Plunge In Tandem With Naira Rebound by LegendHero(m): 10:19pm On Apr 16
Bloomberg themselves said this in the report.

So if CBN clear FX backlogs, where do you guys expect them to see the money before? Will it not be from loans and FX reserve?

How does this translates to defending naira? She na all those $10k wey them dey give BDC go amass $2bn in a month?

This is just using a clickbait topic to attract people, reading the content did not show anywhere that the did was because naira was defended except if clearing backlog is now seen as “Naira defense” too.

“The CBN does appear to be using its FX reserves to clear the valid backlog, and return the naira to a realistic exchange rate,” said Charles Robertson, the London-based head of macro strategy at FIM Partners. “My assumption is they hope to encourage others – local and foreign investors – to start investing in the local currency, and return private sector liquidity to the foreign exchange market.”

You mean the refinery they promised us would come up almost a month ago?

Nigeria is a place where things drag a bit after the publication of commissioning.

So for Porthacort refinery, I am giving them the benefit of the doubt that it will definitely start production in few months. Fingers crossed.

—Lagos Blue rail (Came to fruition after some months)
—Dangote Refinery (came to fruition after some months of delay)
—Aba supposed 24/7 power (never happened yet)
—Lagos Red Rail (Commisioned, awaiting the start)

We should expect even more reduction in the price when the port Harcourt refinery kick starts.

It depends on the capacity of the refinery.

The one they are trying to bring up with do 60,000 bpd.

In like 1 month time, the price difference should reflect properly at filling stations across the country for diesel.

Even with their markup and everything, diesel should sell between 1000 and 1150 across the country.

We still want it to come down more to ease the inflation a bit.

Politics / Dangote Crashes Diesel Price To ₦‎1,000 Per Litre by LegendHero(m): 9:17pm On Apr 16
In an unprecedented move, Dangote Petroleum Refinery has announced a further reduction of the price of diesel from N1200 to 1,000 Naira per litre.

While rolling out the products, the refinery supplied at a substantially reduced price of N1,200 per litre three weeks ago, representing over 30 per cent reduction from the previous market price of about N1,600 per litre.

The refinery stated that “this significant reduction in the price of diesel, at Dangote Petroleum Refinery, is expected to positively affect all the spheres of the economy and ultimately reduce the high inflation rate in the country.”

Recall that Tribune Online, in an exclusive report on Thursday, revealed that indigenous ship owners were not part of the number of vessels that have lined up at the Dangote Refinery to load diesel and aviation fuel.

Speaking exclusively with the Tribune Online, President of SOAN, Mr Sunny Eja, said, “My members are not involved in the product lifting currently taking place at the Dangote Refinery. We are still engaging with various stakeholders to see how we can participate.

However, the Executive Director of the Dangote Group, Devakumar Edwin, earlier in an interview with newsmen, was quoted to have said “We have substantial quantities. Products are being evacuated both by sea and road. Ships are lining up one after another to load diesel and aviation jet fuel. Ships load a minimum of 26 million litres, though we try to push for 37 million litres vessels, for ease of operations.”

Yorubas are special. Both side value the sanctity of life.

I love how the policemen went about it, when some of those guys got arrested, what they first said was that “What came over you people, e ya werey ni”.

Coz it’s like an alien behavior. Yorubas are not terrorists so even the policemen and military guys shock.

If na IPOB now, they go don waste those ones because they are indeed confirmed terrorists with history of blood spilling. So nobody will even care if 1000 IPOB terrorists get wasted.

I presume you are abroad, which ever rate the dollar is in Nigeria how is it a scam to you, infact people in diaspora are the "scam" ... lil change you make there you come home or send and start feeling like odogwu, $100 to 170k is ridiculous

I am not angry the naira rate is low, infact I am delighted.

But why I said what I said is just a natural instinct to price change.

There are some people you put on a monthly payment in Nigeria. So let’s say normally, you send 200k to someone monthly.

—If $ exchange to naira at N1700, you only get to send $117 to the person.
—If $ exchange to naira at N1000, you will need to send $200 to the person.

Now imagine you send money to 5 different people monthly, wouldn’t that mean something to you? You can’t decrease the money you send because prices in Nigeria still remain same.

That was why I jokingly said it felt like a scam. Not that I’m complaining. Infact I love it and have always prayed for dollar to fall.

So where are they getting all this #950, #900 per dollar they are seeing

It’s the black market rate in Nigeria I guess.

Before now, black market used to have higher value than normal bank or Taptap and etc. But now, it seems black market rate are now lower than those boys rate.

So we are witnessing a reverse of what we have always had.

It also depend on volume, if you’re changing anything less than $1k, they tend to buy at lower rate now for them.

Omo when I sent money to my guy 2 days ago, my body do me one kind thing like I’ve been scammed. Imagine $$ wey you go send $100 give people wey them go praise you coz like 170k go biza, now that same $100 na just normal 100k.

Naira at almost N1097, today trading almost closer to N1000.

Cardoso should just make sure it never go above 1k ever again. They should deploy every strategy and make sure it get to a certain amount and stabilize.

God bless Nigeria.
