The Peoples Democratic Party Presidential Campaign Organsiation on Thursday said the party was not marketing President Goodluck Jonathan enough to Nigerians ahead of the March 28 presidential election. The Deputy-Director General of the organisation, Prof. Tunde Adeniran, who stated this, also warned that if the PDP did not retrace its step and showcase Jonathan’s achievements others will use it against him. The former minister of Education spoke in Abuja at a national training session for PDP delegates, designed to train-the-trainers is expected to train 600,000 polling units canvassers ahead of the election. The programme tagged “Operation Deliver Your Ward” saw three participants drawn from each state of the federation and the FCT, Abuja. Adeniran said, “If we continue to show this man has not done anything, others will capitalize on it. The party is not showing enough in this regard. “The president’s achievement is undersold and in some cases not sold at all, in some places they ask, so Jonathan has done so.” The former Minister of Education chided the PDP for not allowing the people to know what Jonathan has done. He, therefore, pleaded with the participants who he said were being trained with the view to imparting the knowledge acquired in the states, stressed that cumulatively 600,000 polling units canvassers are expected to emerge, however, counseled them not keep the materials given to them on the shelves. Vice President Namadi Sambo on Thursday boasted that the ruling Peoples Democratic Party is not afraid of the use of card readers by the Independent National Electoral Commission for the forthcoming general elections. A statement by his spokesman, Umar Sani, quoted Sambo as speaking during an interactive session he had with members of the Nigerian Union of Journalists, Kano State chapter. The Vice President’s position however sharply contradicts the position of the PDP Governors Forum and some top officials of the party who had openly kicked against the use of the device for the elections. Sambo explained that rather than opposing the issue of the card readers, the party’s major concern is to ensure that no eligible voter is disenfranchised. “One thing I will tell you is that PDP is not afraid of anything, not even the card reader. We are not afraid of the card reader. To be very honest, what we want is free and fair elections. “We don’t want anything to go wrong through the use of the card reader. In Ebonyi State, the INEC commissioner there said he is going to repeat the testing and in so many other states there have been problems with the card readers, to the extent that INEC itself has introduced an incidence form. “That is why we are saying, let us do this thing properly,” Sambo was quoted as saying. He said the present administration remained committed to free, fair and credible elections in the country. The Vice President boasted that the PDP remained the party of Nigeria, having retained its identity since 1998. He said the party has significant presence in all parts of the country. “As a party, we believe in the rule of law. That was why we signed the Freedom of Information Act. Even to address the issue of corruption, you must start from a free, fair and credible election. If you don’t do it, you have not started to address corruption,” he added. He said President Goodluck Jonathan’s administration had delivered on all its campaign promises and was poised to doing more. He enumerated these achievements to cover the areas of power supply, education, transportation, security, agriculture, fight against corruption and corrupt practices, industrialisation, job creation as well as security. Please o, how true is this (achievements)? Source: www.punchng.com |

Former South African President, Thabo Mbeki and Former Nigerian Military Head of State, General Abdulsalami Abubakar Monday, stormed Kaduna to meet with the Presidential Candidate of All Progressives Congress (APC), General Muhammadu Buhari over the forth coming general elections. At the end of the meeting which was held behind closed doors at General Buhari’s office along Jabi Road in a highbrow area of Kaduna metropolis Monday morning, neither the visitors, nor General Buhari spoke with newsmen. Mbeki and Abdulsalami left to the Kaduna International Airport to fly back to Abuja after a photo session which marked the end of the over one hour meeting. However, a source close to General Buhari told our Correspondent that, the meeting was not unconnected with the Presidential election rescheduled for March 28. According to the source who spoke unofficially, “They are here to prevail on General Buhari not to probe Jonathan after emerging President in the coming election.” Related:NewsRescue- Jonathan Seeks Buhari’s Audience To Negotiate Immunity Terms as Cabal Begin to Flee He went further to say that, “you see, they have realized that, all efforts to turn Nigerians against General Buhari have failed and all manner of opinion polls have favoured the old man, even the ones the government organized. “They have also made several attempts to make the APC national leader, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu compromise and sell out, but he has refused. So, having realized that, Buhari will win the election, they have been sending people to prevail on him not to probe Jonathan for his misdeed. “So, this delegation was sent to beg General Buhari not to probe President Goodluck Jonathan after winning the election,”he said. The Independent National Electoral Commission said it met on Monday to consider field reports from the public demonstration of Smart Card Readers conducted in 12 states on Saturday. The states were Rivers and Delta (South-South), Kano and Kebbi (North-West), Anambra and Ebonyi (South East), Ekiti and Lagos (South West), Bauchi and Taraba (North East) as well as Niger and Nasarawa (North Central). A statement issued by the Chief Press Secretary to the chairman of the commission, Mr. Kayode Idowu in Abuja on Tuesday, said INEC observed that its decision to deploy SCRs for the 2015 general elections had four main objectives. These objectives, according to him were to verify Permanent Voter cards presented by voters at polling units and ensure that they are genuine, INEC-issued (not cloned) cards. He said that from the reports on Saturday’s exercise, this objective was achieved 100 per cent. Another one according to him, was to biometrically authenticate the person who presents a PVC at the polling unit and ensure that he/she is the legitimate holder of the card. In this regard, he said there were a few issues in some states during the public demonstration, but added that overall, 59 per cent of voters who turned out for the demonstration had their fingerprints successfully authenticated. Nevertheless, he added that the commission, in agreement with registered political parties, had provided in the approved Guidelines for the conduct of the 2015 elections that where biometric authentication of a legitimate holder of a genuine PVC becomes challenging, there could be physical authentication of the person and completion of an Incident Form, to allow the person to vote. Another reason for the exercise, he added, was that the SCRs provided what he described as disaggregated data of accredited voters in male/female and elderly/youth categories. He said this disaggregation was vital for research and planning purposes, but which INEC until now had been unable to achieve. The demonstration on Saturday fully served this objective. Idowu said, “The SCR sends the data of all accredited voters to INEC’s central server, equipping the Commission to be able to audit figures subsequently filed by polling officials at the PU and thereby, be able to determine if fraudulent alterations were made. The public demonstration also succeeded in this regard.” He said the commission nevertheless took a serious view of the high rate of the SCRs’ failure to authenticate voters’ fingerprints in some areas, particularly in Ebonyi State, and has decided to thoroughly investigate the cause; as well as repeat the public demonstration in that state. He said this demonstration will be conducted in the particular Registration Area involved in the last exercise, namely Izzi Unuhu (Abakaliki Local Government Area); as well as in Ibii/Oziza Registration Area (Afikpo North LGA). Although he mentioned that the repeat demonstration will be on Saturday, he added that the commission was satisfied with the last Saturday’s exercise. He said, “INEC is satisfied that the use of SCRs in the 2015 general elections will add tremendous transparency and credibility to the accreditation process on Election Day. “The Commission hereby reassures the public that it will do everything necessary to ensure that the processes of the elections are seamless, free, fair, credible and peaceful.” Source: www.punchng.com |
PLEXPLEX:Lols, you know 80% of buhari's supporters are genuine compare to Gej's supporters that collect money just to sell his bad product. |
PLEXPLEX:Yobo flew to Nigeria because of the #21b in pdp campaign. He has lost his ground both locally and internationally, so the only means of survival was to campaign here n there for the sake of that money. At least to maintain his pretty wife and secure her punana against rich footballers like Mikel, Martins, Osaze, onazi. So my brother, na that money make ham show naija o, nothing else. |
Yobo, is the least footballer that thinks he can deceive the already made-up minds of we Nigerians. Even if Messi and Ronaldo should come and campaign for GEJ, Otuoke still remains his destination. I believe all this last minute struggle from jona and pdp can only fetch them more disaster than fame. As for what I know, Buhari is our next president and Jonathan is aware of it. |
crownprince102:See finishing, I love how you grounded Yobo here. God bless you and SAI Buhari |
