CareerRe: Pls, Help A Geographer Secure A Job On The Aviation Industry In Nigeria. Thanks by legendsilver(op): 11:22pm On Oct 12, 2014
almaliki:
really dunno much about d aviation industry in Nigeria......but i strongly advise u to get an Msc first before applying......dats if u are financially capable......climatology wouldn't be a bad option.......Gis as well....transportation geo kinda restricts u to d transport sector or academics.......with d current trend of event in d job industry....diversification is d key word.....so IMHO.....would advise you not to restrict urself to transportation geo.
Thanks for this useful piece of advice, God bless you greatly.
Pls, I will like to know why you restricted job opportunities on Aviation industry to Gis n climatology? I chose transportation geography cause it deals on total transportation and the branches is kind of wide e.g road, sea, rail and air transport.
That's the reason and don't have the choice of changing the applied form, as it has been submitted already.
Pls o, what does IMHO stands for. Thanks

Will like to know if am on the right track to further for the M.sc before applying for the job or I should use my B.sc to apply?
Thanks for your awaited response.

I quite agree with you. Experienced technical safety engineers are in hot demand. There is actually a shortage of technical safety/risk engineers worldwide. Many notable oil firms require them in large scale engineering projects. And it is one of the very few engineering positions in which you can work independently as a consultant. I know a man who is a technical safety engineering consultant. He makes over 500k for a 2-day consulting engagement. He is sought after all over Africa. I should add it.

I am not too sure about gas engineering specialists. A mechanical, process and facilities engineer can comfortable handle many gas projects
Sir, what of geographers na,
Can't we be included in this oil and gas exploration?

Erm.. First of all, I am a Patriot..

I love this Nation way more than you know. I had the opportunity to go live and work in Canada and yet I willingly returned to Nigeria where I currently live. That said, Nigeria is far from a glorious tomorrow. I live everyday in a Nation that has no direction of where it wants to be. No unity, no vision. A nation where the blind are leading those who can see. Where the politicians have terrorized everyone into docility. How does the story of 200 missing girls just fade from our memories just like that? We as a people can't even hold on to one struggle or cause for more than 4 weeks.. That's how the story of the missing billions faded, the story of the NNPC probe by KPMG forgotten, the police pension fund scam deleted, the Stella Oduah car scam closed off, the 9 billion plus seized by South Africa would also go the same way, the subsidy saga unresolved, the Farouk Lawan matter that you would have expected would be easy to solve fizzled out and Lawan is still a sitting rep in the legislation.. Hana Na..

What hands do you speak of? I was almost shot by Nigerian military men in broad daylight for challenging them as to why they were driving against traffic.. Not one single Nigerian from the multitude of cars stuck in traffic even came down to assist me confront them. Infact, the military guys made me reverse on my lane against traffic for miles whilst Nigerians sat in their cars watching such injustice happen. Please don't tell me about joining hands.. Look at the subsidy protest that I was hoping would be our salvation.. As soon as the military guys were deployed, everybody disappeared from the streets.. Compare that with Hong Kongs own protest that is on right now.. Or should I speak about that Lekki road scam? How does the government allow LCC to start tolling a road that they have not even completed? Nigerians protested that toll, one man got shot, everybody went back to their houses.. grin

I have hope for Nigeria, but the sane side of me sees this ship hitting an iceberg before it ever reaches utopia.
That's serious smiley
Man ur eyes have see plenty o! shocked
Still don't kill the hope bro, e go better one day

Lol...

Leave that saying for Americans..

In Nigeria, a wise man is he who knows when to push on, knows when to fall back, knows when to walk away and knows when to run..

On a flight yesterday from Houston to Toronto, a white man who I was sited next to and had struck up a conversation with asked me about the Chibok girls and I was stumped as to what to tell him. Ask yourself when last anybody talked about the Chibok girls? If 200 plus girls can be so easily forgotten, Na me wey una go remember?

I would hate my for my death to come by the hands of one useless urchin wey ehn life no get value.. When Nigerians are ready for the change they crave, dey know what to do about it..
I believe in my country Nigeria, our future generations will read the history of how it became great.
I know how bad it is at the moment, that's why many wrote it off as a failed entity. But trust me, we have a greater tomorrow that needs the patriotic effort of every nigerians no matter where we live, what we do now and how we do it. Bravo

Jobs/Vacancies10 Kinds Of Business That Can Earn You Millions In A Year by legendsilver(op): 7:49am On Oct 07, 2014
If you want to earn more than one million a year you should choose an area of your business very carefully. Here are 10lucrative businesses in Nigeria you can invest your money and be sure of making millions back.

1. E-commerce
Electronic commerce is the easiest kind of business to start. The best thing about the e-commerce is that you have already millions of online “customers”. You just need to turn them into buyers of your products.

2. Poultry Farms
This kind of business is very lucrative. Even some foreigners are coming to Nigeria to invest into it. If you start with a farm of 1,000 chickens and will develop it properly, you will be earning nearly N30 million annually

3. Second hand clothes
Ibadan flea market
Many Nigerians prefer to buy used clothes of good quality instead of cheap fakes. The cost of importing used cloth is very low, which guarantees good turnovers of your investments.

4. Snail farms
These farms are quite popular in Nigeria. They need low investment to start and don’t need any special equipment. But the area is big, as well as the market.

5. Fruit juices
Nigerians consume more fruit juice than any other people on our planet. This business is tough and it needs big starting capitals, but if you are able to afford it – it is totally worth it.

6. Oil and gas
Our land has great deposits of oil and gas. So the land itself presents the best opportunity for its citizens. Some finest businesses in Nigeria started from owning of petrol filling stations or gas logistics. These areas are always good for making money.

7. Professional car wash
The main thing in this kind of business – good management and a right place. Try to choose a strategic place for example in Lagos or in other city overcrowded by cars.

8. Construction materials
House construction is on its peak now in Nigeria. So if you will manage to become a local dealer of construction materials it will surely bring you some good money.

9. Rice farming
There is never enough rice in Nigeria. That’s why government imports it from Thailand and China every year. You should prepare to invest hardly in good labour and farming itself, but the result is worth it.

10. Hotels and estates
Business with property is probably the biggest opportunity to make money in Nigeria. Invest in a small hostel or a mini hotel. Also, you can just rent some property. And then you will see how the money flow in.
