This is too wrong this is weaponization of data and Internet traffic
The internet was designed to be a weapon. DO you know one oyibo pikin in Google data centre knows where you sleep every night? I am telling you this because I know you have a gmail account. Very few things are stopping governments like the USA from bombing your house at night like they did in Iran. Israel does the same thing too and they happily brag about it.

It's even 1000x easier now that every phone the average person buys today has a GPS module, in fact you are paying to be tracked by the internet. Nobody on nairaland takes internet security serious, as shown by having a poll contesting if a country under attack by the United States should not control their internet, so make una rest.

If you don't understand that it means Africans are not the one destroying the climate they are.

I went ahead in my last post to you and included link to mechanized animal farming and the monstrenous production in China and how these activities contribute to carbon foot print.

No be cho cho cho For your claim that in general that there is nothing like climate change and that this was a ploy for the manufacturing of artificial meeting. Please do share links to scientific studies backing your claim. At least I did share links backing my position on this issues.

My first post that is not even up to half a page is difficult for you to read and understand, so I am not surprised at your reasoning grin
My point is that, you are sending me links to show how bad mechanised agriculture is for the climate but you never bothered to "research" the pollution and environmental damage that activities like needless wars do to this same climate you cherish more than sense. Okay... stop eating meat. Oyibo will sell you synthetic alternatives make you dey chop. I am not here to stop you but point out your ignorance on the so-called climate activism.

Can you compare the carbon footprint print of the needless wars these criminals have been conducting over the years to a natural practice of agriculture that we have been practicing even before you were born? Abi you need them to do research for that one for you, bah?

SamuelLoch:
I see comprehension issues here. I didn't say US was feeding them cow and chicken daily. That happened in Nigeria here. We heard the stories... Even lecturers confessed to us while on campus.

You've written so much without justifying the reason for a sudden 100% hike. Meanwhile, this is the second hike in about 3 years.

Don't worry. In the coming years, you'll walk into the hospital to see for yourself or read reports on shortage of qualified medical practitioners. A few days ago, it was a report of no anti-venom right? More is underway. Go and read about Zimbabweans health sector collapse.

Seriously, there is no justification for the hype. Since they increased school fees, there has been no major facility or equipment deployments to schools all over Nigeria by the federal government. They just want to tie people down here with loans and debts so they have people to oppress and can always write to USA, UN, World Bank, IMF, AFDB, etc. for help.

A new administration would come in and student debt pardon would be part of the manifesto that will win the hearts and votes of people.

If they deploy anything between now and the elections, it's strictly campaign tactics.
Abi o. This debt-based lifestyle is what Tinubu and his government are packaging for Nigeria. There is nothing attractive about it...nothing at all.

I am not sure of what you are talking about. I am responding to you because you include my post.

Given that you include Tinubu education overseas shows that you seems not to know what you are talking about. additionally, thinking that #200,000 tuition for medical education at UNN is slave mentality shows that you absolutely did not have an idea of what you are talking about and that is one of the reason among many reasons we are having problem in Nigeria.

I schooled in Nigeria and one of the poorest during my time. In my time because I could not come up with #20 second semester registration , I had to pay #40. Because I didn't have bank account and did not know anyone with checking account I had to walk for more than two hours going from one bank to the other in Marina and Apapa Lagos until a good Samaritan employee of a bank help me to buy the bank draft from his own account. I told you that story to let you understand that you are not talking to someone who doesn't understand the benefit of free/subsidised education.

The point of my posting is that #200,000 for medical education tuition is practically free education. Education is a very expensive endeavor in any part of the world. Nigeria 2025 budget was $36.5 billion. New York University budget for 2025 was about $18 billion, that is just one university in the US. You can see the difference. Even if Nigeria is ranked as the least corrupt country in the world, we still can not provide quality medical education absolutely free like Germany and some other developed countries.

Some of these countries population is not up to 25% of our population and their per capita GDP dwarfed our own. I will admit that i don't know much about their education system. However, given your false assertion regarding education in the US. You claimed "They were fed for free, daily, across all levels of education! Eating chicken and cow everyday on campus.", I believe your assertion of those countries may not be true

Unless you are on scholarship, United States government yes subsidized education heavily. They however, don't feed all students free with chicken and cow across all level of education. Yes, if you are poor , they will provide you free breakfast and lunch in elementary and secondary school but in higher education.

In the united states, you are required to pay your full tuition. You can apply for loan and grant base on the income reported on your tax return.

If you are middle or upper class, you may get zero grant and therefore will be required to take government loan and if what you qualify for in government loan is not enough to pay your tuition you can go to private bank to borrow more. If you are going to school ranked in the category of UNN (highly ranked in Nigeria, could be considered Nigeria Ivy league) No matter how poor you are, government grant most likely will not cover your tuition. You will have to get loan, some rich universities may offer you need based scholarship but not for you to live large. That is undergraduate.

Medical school is a different ball. unless your parent is rich or extremely brilliant to get scholarships. You would consider yourself lucky if you graduate medical school with less than $250,000 in student loan. Having said all that, the system is far better than Nigeria.
1. Someone that could not afford N20 is now calling N200,000 school fees "practically free education" Mr man, do you know that there are people today who can not afford this your free N200,000 just like you were walking 2 hours on the streets of Lagos because of N20 a while ago?

Maybe you have gone abroad and now that money is small change for you. Well done.

2. This medical school you are trying to defend them doubling the price, what breakthroughs have they given us? Apart from graduating students that leave the country (not only from medical school, other departments too dey comot), is there any project anyone in world can point to and say "this was from the effort of the Nigerian medical school system" ? Nothing. No. zero. But it is okay to double the school fees because it is practically free education, then next year dey double it some more.

That is what they are trying to copy from oyibo. You know our government only copies the evil practices from abroad. But to create something that will benefit everyone in Nigeria, never ever.

It is not as if the curriculum has changed or improved. Nothing of value has been established. No new drug discoveries. Nothing. Zero. But school fees will increase 100% because that is what Oxford University in UK is charging

PoliticsRe: Fubara, Speaker Clash Over Deplorable Condition Of Schools In Rivers by legionISproteus: 2:35pm On Dec 02, 2025
BondRiv:
Rivers State Governor, Siminialayi Fubara and the Speaker of the state House of Assembly, Martins Amaewhule, are at loggerheads over the deplorable conditions of public schools particularly primary and secondary schools in the state.

Amaewhule while addressing lawmakers decried the deplorable conditions of schools across the state, attributing the development to abandonment by the executive arm of the government.

He said, “Public Schools in Rivers State particularly at the primary and secondary level are generally in deplorable condition. It’s a fact. The reason is because of abandonment by people who are supposed to be doing the needful.

“As at yesterday the House committee Chairman on Education found out that one teacher is teaching two classes. Two classes are in one classroom being taught by one teacher, primary one 1 and 2.

“So, the teacher will teach primary 1 a little while primary 2 is listening to primary 1 class. Then primary one will stop listening while the teacher will teach primary 2. Maybe they are blocking their ears and they are in the same classroom, no toilet, no electricity, yet that school is sharing fence with the PHED headquarters, no electricity, no security.

“That same school is directly opposite the police headquarters, meanwhile vandals have taken over the school. They destroy the little facilities they have there. The worst of it is that upon what we said when this motion came up nothing has happened”.

Amaewhule lamented that despite the complaints of the Assembly through its resolutions the executive arm led by Fubara had refused to remedy the situation.

He said, “The Rivers State Executive Council has not done anything. They have nothing to remedy the situation. This is a sad commentary. Something has to be done for our schools, for our children, for the future of this state.

“Our primary and secondary schools cannot remain like this. They cannot remain without teachers. When the last administration was leaving they plan for the employment of people, I think 10,000 across the state took place, interviews. What has happened?

“People were not employed, but when it is time for protest funds will come for people to go and protest. When it is time to employ teachers and make teachers to be in the classroom there will be no money. We cannot continue to keep quiet.

“We cannot continue to fold our arms while our children continue to suffer, while teachers continue to cry. How will anyone believe that in the year 2025 in a state like Rivers State one teacher will be teaching two classrooms under one roof?

“How would anyone believe a school that is very close to the Government House in the year 2025 that pedestrians will be called to come and teach people because there are no teachers? It is an abomination, it is an aberration and it is unacceptable. Something has to be done. We will not allow this indolence to continue.”

Amaewhule insisted that the assembly would not allow the sorry state of schools to continue adding that the lawmakers must act on complaints from parents.

The speaker said there was no reason for such abandonment disclosing that the former Sole Administrator, Rear Admiral Ibok Ibas left over N600bn in the coffers of the state.

He said, “We are the only people mandated by law to fight for our parents. Parents are crying. The complaints we are getting, the pictures they are sending to us are coming from parents from Township School 2.

“The other day somebody went to a school in Etche and saw children inside the classroom with even weed on their roof. How the weed went to their roof and they are learning under I don’t imagine. I’m trying to remember the name of that community now. It is appalling.

“Is it that we don’t have funds in the state? Of course we have! As at the time the administrator, Ibas was leaving, he left over N600 billion in the accounts of Rivers State. Over N600 billion by October, can’t such funds be used to remedy the situation in our schools?”.

But Fubara while replying Amaewhule said that improving the poor state of education in Rivers State was a top priority of his administration, announcing that the sector would receive the largest allocation in the 2026 budget.

The governor spoke while declaring open the 123/124 combined quarterly meeting of the Rivers State Council of Traditional Rulers in Port Harcourt.

He admitted that many schools across the state were in bad shape but stressed that the decay did not happen overnight.

According to him, the deterioration predated his government and was one of the major issues used by opponents during the 2023 election campaigns.

The governor said his team was working strategically to reverse the decline, noting that his background in public administration guided his approach to planning and reform.

On healthcare, the governor pointed to the ongoing upgrade of zonal hospitals and other interventions in the healthcare workers welfare as evidence of improved service delivery in the sector.

Speaking on employment, Fubara said the government remained committed to creating jobs but insisted that recruitment, including the anticipated 10,000 openings, would be based on the needs of the state, adding that the exercise would not be politicised.

Monday’s meeting, which was the 3rd and 4th combined session of the year and the fourth since he assumed office, also provided an opportunity for Fubara to commend traditional rulers for their role in resolving the political impasse that once threatened stability in the state.

Foreign AffairsRe: Guinea Bissau: Army announces take over on eve of Presidential vote announcement by legionISproteus: 5:56pm On Nov 27, 2025
nairalanda1:
I just dey laugh.

Many Nigerians supporting what is happening in GB, don't know the story of coups in Africa as a whole. Coups do not work at all.

I mean, the funny thing is that most nigerians will be calling the army fulani dominated, islamic army, boko haram infiltrated army, etc....and then they expect the same type of army to suddenly mount a people's revolution? (Yes, magical thinking).

Let's even look back. All the coups in nigeria were very very visionary. Like the first coup. Everybody was saying politicans were corrupt, etc etc. Very corrupt. SO, Ifeajuana , Nzeogwu, Okafor, and Ademoyega threw the corrupt people out, and we ended with four years of bloodshed, which we are still recovering from today.

Second republic self, very corrupt...so we got buhari who came in and removed the corrupt people, and fifteen years later, the country was in a mess and broke

RInse and repeat.

We now have a large mass of young people who don't recall how bad coups were. And that's sad. The problem also is that we don;t teach contemporary nigerian history in schools too. So, we all miss how bad millitary rule is.

Note that democracy has been awful, and as someone wey no vote for tinubu, I am not happy at all with our democracy. But at least we can bash our leaders and not get thrown into detention with no one knowing where we are. Or without trial. And ya think that MNK would still be alive under army rule? He would have long since been sentenced by a milltary tribunal, and executed, and y'all wont be able to do nuthing about it. Igboho the same. And as for them bandits...army rule would use extreme force on them , but will also kill lots of innocent civillans too.

Everytime we had army rule, within ten years, people would be crying for democracy, ANY democracy.
So, in other words, Nigerians are used to military rule. So why are we afraid again?
