Barely two hours after the Federal Government imposed a travel ban on 13 high-risk coronavirus infested countries, the House of Representatives has also mandated it to ban open worship and other public gatherings until further notice.

The House also directed the airport authorities across the country to put in place mechanisms to discourage crowd gatherings.

It also took a decision mandating compulsory laboratory tests on all staff and members of the national assembly to ascertain their status.

It also banned visitors from accessing the national assembly complex while urging the government to sign a Memorandum of Understanding, MoU with the Singaporean government to produce testing kits for Nigeria.

It also added that all public institutions in Nigeria should be equipped with temperature gauge.

It also called for one-day national prayers and mandated the Minister of Health to brief the House leadership on the situation on a weekly basis.

It will be recalled that the ravaging coronavirus had been declared a pandemic by the World Health Organization, WHO, leaving most advanced countries of the world to scamper for solutions to contain the virus.

Nigeria as at today had recorded 8 cases but with no death.

The House reached the resolutions on the heels of a motion debated for over an hour under “Matters of Urgent Public Importance” on Wednesday plenary.

ABUJA–THE federal government has announced five new cases of coronavirus disease in the country,in addition to the existing three cases.
With the development, Nigeria now has eight confirmed cases of the disease.

The Minister of Health,Osagie Ehanire,in an ongoing press conference in Abuja,on the update of the disease in the country,said all the new five cases had a travel history to the from the United Kingdom, UK and the United States of America, USA.

“We urge Nigerians to remain calm as public health response activities are intensified across the country,” he said.

The student who was allegedly beaten to death by the bullies in his class.


Furthermore, source said the deceased was an intelligent boy, full of life and he became a victim of bullying

His death came by when the bullies ganged up to beat him until he lost consciousness and died eventually.

Senator Shehu Sani has called out the federal government on not closing the border for travellers amidst Coronavirus

Futhermore, Sani said borders closed for importation of rice but not closed on foreign nationals coming into the country from countries with prevalent cases of coronavirus.

Also, several people are calling on the government to ban countries affected by this virus from entering into the country.

He wrote: “Our borders remain open for Corona and closed for Rice.”
