I gave up on Atiku after his Arise Interview, where he proudly declared that "the North is my political base", and then irritatingly tried to draw Obi into his sectional idiocy by going on to claim "just like the South East is Peter Obi's political base and the South South is Amaechi's political base".

It was at that moment that I realized that this man was not wise.

While it highlights how efficient private investment can be, it doesn’t necessarily mean public refineries are beyond saving—it simply raises the standard they must meet. Competing may be difficult, but not impossible, especially if the goal is to reduce import dependence and strengthen energy security.

In reality, the question isn’t whether the refineries can ever work again—it’s whether Nigeria is willing to implement the tough structural changes needed to make them work. That includes transparency, accountability, and possibly letting go of full government control.

So rather than writing them off completely, it may be more productive to see this moment as a test: can Nigeria finally fix what has long been broken, or will history repeat itself?

Those refineries are old. They are out of the modern day technology, one other major reason why they can never work again.

I don't trust Obasanjo, he will scatter the opposition. Obasanjo will push for Obi ticket knowing fully well that Obi can't defeat Tinubu in the north, even if Obi use kwankwanso, sanusi, el Rufai, Emir as vice, he will be squarely defeated in the north by Tinubu. The only ticket that can defeat Tinubu is Atiku Obi. It is very simple maths. Atiku 6.9 million votes plus Obi 6.1 million votes will defeat Tinubu 8 million votes. Obi 6.1 million votes plus kwankwanso 1 million votes can't defeat Tinubu because about 85$% of Atiku s votes will go to Tinubu as a protest votes

Your calculation is rubbish. Northerners go the way their leaders tell them to go. If Atiku instruct his followers to vote for Kwankaso, they will do so.
