pls stop bragging about OAU or downgrading uniben because of dis issue. Every body knows dat OAU is very good school with gud reputation all over d world. And dat dey av zero tolerance 4 corrupt practices or even cultism.this is part of our culture. But dis does mean dat UNIBEN is sub-standard, dat word is too absurd 4 a school like UNIBEN. Let's learn ow to b humble, eventhough we have what it takes. And respect others. For me UNIBEN is d best school in Eastern Nigeria. Am not attacking u but sayin d truth. BTW which level ar u?

pls i dont mean to molest d school or downgrade it. I bliv dat UNIBFN is one of the top schl... But my questn is dat ow ar u ppl copin wit all dis lecturer since all dis, because dis kind of lecturer may discourage student 4rm readin wich may efect on d student afta graduation.. Dat means many ppl dat graduated 4rm uniben b4 now wit gud grade might have use crooked way to get it. I must tell u dis can av it way in OAU, even if a lecturer sells 20 naira hand out to his student he wil b quary 4 it, talkles colectin 50k 4rm student in order secure an a, dat's not done. Although dere may b some undercover ronye o, but it's at a very low ebb. Concernin fake student i dont tink is ever posibu in a sch like OAU, UI and UNILAG.. Because dere is a minimum cutoff to enter any course, 4 instance if u dont 200 in utme and putme u can get admisn, no mata ow long ur leg is. UI admisn is strictly based on merit so dere is no way u can manipul8 it.
Kudos to prof oshodin and d council who has flushed away dis evil act 4rm d institution.

@ torch in addition to what sam has said, u can also work at oil company, i said dis because i heard of som1 dat graduated from my sch and she's now workin in oil company. U can also work in bank, embassy. Dont 4get dat pol sc is d mother courses like public admin, international relations and local government administration, so u can do there work as a political scientist. U can also work as a journalist. Dat's one of d reason y i extend it to our graduates so dat dey provide us wit the job opportunity outside there. As a fresh student i wil advice to take ur study very serious and dont rely only on what u ar tot in class, dat's y it is imperative for u as a pol sc student to get a system so as 4 u to download ebook 4rm online.

Let's discuss the political theory of Plato. 'The Philosopher King'. This i have thought about sometimes before, i see no possibility of its praticability. Perhaps, it can work in the acient Greek communiy.

Nice topic.. For me, what i see about plato's theory is dat it cannot fit in to a larger community like we have now.. During dat time of acient greek dere population was very small compare to now, dat makes it easy for him to train ppl in order to know d positn dey fall apetitive or courageous or philosopher. We shud not 4get dat democracy was first practice in ancient greek, but den dey practiced direct democracy which can no more b in practice because of geometrical increase in human population.
Lookin at plato's theory he was talkin about d world of form (essential world) which can not b seen by ordinary men, except some few philosopher king.. He said dat dis essential world is d perfect but is diff 4rm our world of existence which we can see and feel. This makes his theory to b too abstract. Althouh dis does mean dat his theory is useles to our comteporary politics.

My own opinion concernin syria issue is that as we all kno dat d global politics is based on the realist ideology, in which might makes right.. As all dat dere is permanent friendship in int'r relatn but permanent interest. US attempt to intervene in syria crisis, is not because dey luv syria but its for dere own interest. I bliv dat d only way to end dis crisis is 2ru peaceful means even now dat Russia who is also a permanent member of d UN is in support of Assad.. USA also want to maintain there hegemonic stance.

sandammy: As a fresher, in my school, introduction to Political Science, Basic Forms and Organization of Govt, and Introduction to Management. Pos101, 103 106 are the core courses i did in my first semester. Others are elective. We did a little bit about the political philosophy of Plato, Aristotle, Thomas Hobbes, Rosseu, John Locke, Karl Marx and so on.

Thanks for the info my broda. This wil help aaua prospective student. I pray God will grant ur heart desire of making a first class. My broda dat's very difficult attain here in OAU, d last time we first class was in 1989. But wit God all things are posible.

it's difficult and it's not, it all depends on you. Although dere ar some further maths topic. SSC 105 topics include matrix, cordinate geometry, AP and GP, trigonometry, partial fraction, set e.t.c. You must be deligent if u want to make gud grade

concerning the topics, for pt 1 u wil b doing govt related topics 4 pol sc courses. In pt 2 we have topic like political thought whereby u wil b tot how to reason by comparing philosophy work of ppl like plato, socrates, aristotle, thomas aquinas, machiavelli, augustine, hegel, hobbes, john locke and d likes to the comteporary politics. There are some topics also on int'l relations, public admin, comparative politics and many others

it depends on schl... In d case of OAU we only did one pol courses which is introduction to politics.. D remaining courses include, psychology, philosophy, economics,, geography and mathematics. Dat's for OAU but i dont know dat of uniosun... I bliv we wil soon havea stalite of uniosun on d thread who can provide u wit d course outline 4 uniosun.

At kendzyman if u ar applying for courses like medcine, dentistry, phamacy, dere mayb minimum scores for admisn process especially medcine.. Most of d ppl dat ar doin medcine merit it or 2ru elds scheme.. But if u ar applyin 4 law, pol sc, ecn, acct u can stil make ur course but may b a little hard and u must kno someone dat is very reputable in dat dept.. Wen entered oau in 2010 had around 205 as agg and d cut off den for pol sc was 261 d 3rd highest cut off 4 dat year.. And dis my frend gained admisn into d dept he is in 300l.. Don't 4get also dat with God all things ar possible...

My advice to u all is dat if u kno dat ur score is not very high, it is beta to go to ur faculty to profs dere so dat dey can help u to process ur admisn. One important thing about dis admisn request is it has a time limit, so it is beta 4 u to act fast b4 its too late.. It doesn't mata if u kno sombody or not u can approach anybody in ur department and anybody can b of help to u.. Dont just stay at home act fast. It is worthy to note dat nobody wil require penny 4rm u 4 ur admisn process.
Above all move closer to God, because wit God all tins ar possible and ur own wil not b imposible 4 God to do...

@ funtaherb, it was b4 dat OAU dont accept commerce as utme subject, but i can tell u now dat dey do accept it. D only conditn 4 not aceptin commerce is if u ar optin 4 any social science courses and u combine eco and comm 2geda as us ur subject but 4 courses outside social sci and admin u can do comm. A friend of mine entered law in 2010 and his combinatn den were govt, lit and comm. He is now in 300l... So far u'v satisfy d minimum course requirement which is 1 art subject, their is no cause 4 alarm... For info concerning oau admission u can call me on 08074544341... its not dat hard, but u will do som further maths topic like matrices, coordinate geometric, partial fraction etc, but u dont av to let maths scare u, cos u will do maths until u reach 300l, u will do ssc106, ssc201 and ssc 202. all u av to do is to b focus, i also feel dsame wen i heard dat am going to do maths, but i later discover dat is not dat hard, at the same it is not easy, if u dont give it what it takes,

ur courses ar SSC105 (social science mathematics), ssc 101, his 101, pad 101, ssc 111, and one other which i can't remember 4 now.

As u guys ar resuming into the Great Citadel of learning, these are the things u need to know

1. concerning ur ar accommodation its going to b on first come first come first serve, and the first hostel to b allocated to fresher ar Angola(male), Mozambique (male), which will contain 6 bunks that 12 student per rum, it was afta wen dis 2 halls ar full, dat dey started allocating other hostel to freshers. for dose of u planning to stay off campus, i dont tink dat's a gud idea, especially for science student, in which u will av to b at the lecture by 4 to 5am, or else u will not get the best out of the lecture. secondly there are some impromptu info, which may need urgent action. there are many other factors, which i cannot say here, but when u get to campus u 'll see it urself.

2. concerning ur registration. it will start with ur orientation program, so i will advice u to do it on time, because the more u delay the stress u wil face, some necessary things u need for reg include original olevel result or print out, ur post utme result, jamb notification of result, birth cert, 4 or 5 oau file, etc.

3. concerning the course u will offer in ur 1st, for social science student, u will do ssc 101 (sociology), SSC 103 (goegraphy) SSC 111 (psychology), SSC 105 (mathematics 4 social scintist) PHL101(Philospphy), for those of in geography u will not do phl, u will rather do one of ur departmental course, and 4 those in psych and demostat u will do one departmental course to join the courses listed above, while the rest will do the 5 courses which has dasme unit (3 unit each) then u can now take som electives of ur chioce, for those in sciences am not a science student but i kno some of ur courses which ar phy 101 (make sure start ue Halliday now, cos thay's where most of ur question will come out) mth 101, chm 101 (white house no easy o), and some practicals, note medcine student will not offer mth, they do offer zoo and botany. as for law student ur courses are PHL101, SSC 101, PUL 101, lit 101, EGL 101, and PHL 105. These ar some elective which ar very simple SEG ( u will go to a trip which wil fetch u 40 marks), SEM same as SEG, SEL(law), mind u, only need 40 marks for ur electives cos ar not going to add to ur G.P and u can only apply 4 dis 3 courses if u start reg very early (after payment). all the courses listed ar very easy to av ur A in them if u ar focus,

4. concerning reading in OAU, people alot, but it doesn't av effect in their result, the reason 4 that, i dont really kno,
what i will advice is that dont follow other peoples way of reading, study ursef to kno the best tym 4 u to read, co this is what is killin mot people in OAU, cos everywhere is full of reading, and if u dont study ursef u wil not get the best from what u ar. it was in OAU, that u will see som1 reading 4 at least 5 hours per day an will b aving E,D, the highest C, so plan very well. pls mak sure u join a group sicussion group it help alot,

5. lastly u av to be very closer unto God, cos it is only God that can see u 2ru in OAU, pls this is extremely important, and in d area choosing frend choose a frend that wil benefit u spiritually and academically. cos u will meet many people wit different xters and behavior. As u ar about to start this of 4,5 or 7 years, my prayer is that God will see u 2ru,
