1forall: I personally thought they gave the US team a bit too much respect in their approach to the game today and allowed the US to 'shakara' them early on.

That said, the girls need to work to improve on their stamina. In each of the last 4 games they played it became obvious they got tired from around the 65-70th minute leading to a loss of concentration and careless play. The coach by now should know that and do something about it although I suppose it's why most substitutions were made during the last 20 mins.

They would also do well to learn/improve on their technical discipline, while Nigeria had more talented players and played better football today, the US was more solid and technically disciplined and it showed.

Overall, there's nothing to be ashamed of losing to the USA in a female world cup semi-final, the girls did their country proud and should benefit from the exposure and experience. Let's just hope it tranlates to a better future performance next time out.

Kudos girls!
They didn't respect at all..they are technical okay than us, faster to ball than us, and think fast on how to use ball than us while we were skillful than them, hold than them and we changed our previous partern with them which caused the loss

OYINBOGOJU: The girls deserve kudos
The coach deserve knock for changing tactics .
NFF should retain this man to continue his work, he's having the world cup experience now and he has learnt his mistake and i guess he can move further by 2014 if they retain him.. He's a good coach and he need to reaccess his mistake and go for some courses.

As the Falconets go against the USA U-20 women’s team on Tuesday in Japan in the first semi-final match at the on-going FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup, the Edwin Okon-tutored side must endeavour to convert more of the chances that they will create.

Having knocked out the USA in the last championship in 2010, the Americans will be well prepared for Tuesday’s match.

The USA team will rely on their speed, crossing and long range shots. They are big and are physically as robust as the Falconets but not as skilful.

In the match against Mexico last Thursday, the Falconets created loads of chances – 33 shots but so many of the shots were wayward. The trio of Francisca Ordega, Esther Sunday and Desire Oparanozie must link up in the final third to create chances for each other.

Coach Okon must have noticed the breakdown of communication between his forwards and should try and correct the lapses.

Sunday must be mandated to look up to feed her team mates whenever she goes on those mazy dribbles of hers. She is a natural dribbler and that trait should be exploited for the good of the team. If she can continuously get to the by-line and produce telling crosses, Oparanozie, Ordega and Gloria Okobi, arriving from midfield will get chances to score.

The Americans will rely on their crosses a lot and that raises fears as the Falconets’ goalkeeper was flapping at crosses in the last match against Mexico as the only times the Nigerian team was threatened was through free kicks and corner kicks.

Oparanozie wants to win the title this year

The Falconets as a whole have played well individually except for the right-back position which has seen some wobbles. Captain Gloria Ofoegbu has been a Trojan in defence whilst the likes of Cecilia Uwak, Okobi and Asisat Oshoala have held their own in midfield areas.

The Americans will rely on front-runner Maya Hayes, who has four goals, and marauding right-back Crystal Dunn to put some pressure on their opponents. They will be aiming for more set plays so as to test the Nigerian goalkeeper so the defenders will better assume the posture of not conceding any unnecessary free kicks or corner kicks.

The match will be won and lost on the premise of the team that is able to take its chances when they come

My team’s getting better every day. If you want to be better tomorrow, you have to put in the hard work today – that’s our philosophy. After having lost in the final in 2010, we want to reach that stage again in 2012. So, that’s what we’ve been working towards day after day,” Nigeria coach Edwin Okon

Those girls are trying for them to conceded only one since they started they campaign from qualify stages till the stage they are nw..they have full concentration and the coach has to work on team work @ the forward, they should try not to avoid winning free kick for their opponent around box 18, have more work to do on their in time tiredness and try to create another tactic if d one they using on ground is not work for them.
