Politics / Sarki Begs Kaduna Protesters To Suspend Protest For 1 Month by Lelelalalele: 5:47pm On Aug 07
We cannot continue to burn down our region in the name of protest, especially after the President has appealed to us.

Give him a grace period of a month or two; if things don’t change, then come out and protest again.

Politics / Protest Resumes In Ibadan Despite Tinubu’s Broadcast by Lelelalalele: 5:40pm On Aug 07
The ongoing protest against widespread hunger and scarcity of essential commodities across the country resumed on Wednesday in Ibadan, the Oyo state capital.

This is coming a few days after President Bola Ahmed Tinubu addressed Nigerians in a national broadcast.

Tinubu, on Sunday during the national broadcast said that he had heard the messages of the protesters loud and clear.

Our correspondent however reports that a group of protesters assembled at the front of the University of Ibadan to continue with the protest on Wednesday.

The protesters who are mainly human rights activists and youths were seen around the main gate of the university Wednesday morning.

The protesters carried different placards to communicate their demands to the public.

A spokesman for the protesters, Solomon Emiola who spoke with DAILY POST notes that the protesters resumed the protests because the national broadcast failed to address the yearnings of Nigerians.

Emiola said, “We are protesting because the President failed to address the needs of the Nigerian masses. He has failed to address the needs of the people.

“He said all the demands of the people, the solution to it is rice palliative. And we are tired of eating rice. A bag of rice now is ninety thousand naira.

“I as a person, don’t have a piece of rice in my house now, not to talk of having a congo or rice. That means we Nigerians, we are suffering.

“And with the high cost of living, we cannot go to school because the tuition fees have increased. The tuition fees are above minimum wage, where do they want us to see it?

“No employment, insecurity is there, all the problems keep ravaging and our president said he is not ready to address it”.

The benefits you mentioned is that someone must vote APC or PDP because them tie him destiny to the two party?

I graduate can't think for himself on who to vote for because nah APC dey rule? No because PDP pays him salary?

I just dey shake my head

Oga, if the election wasn't free and fair, there's no way PDP would score 30% in a state like Ekiti, a stronghold of Tinubu. They would have manipulated or written results and give BAT 90% and everyone would believe because that's the projection. In fact, everyone is surprised. But it happened simply because the powers that be chose to be fair.

Same thing happened in Southeast. Power of incumbency couldn't save most of APC and PDP chieftains as they lost to LP candidates.

Yes, the election isn't perfect and can be improved. But to say it's not free and fair simply because your candidate lost means you're hypocritical.

This is what made it free and fair?

I guess the word has different meaning in your dictionary?

Some people self. I just wish nairaland wasn't anonymous. Omo! Some people go just dey too ashame of their friends mental capacity

Oga, if it wasn't free and fair, there's no way the benefits I mentioned would have happened.

What made it free and fair?

Everything! If it wasn't free and fair, unknown LP rep/sen candidates can never defeat incumbents in the South East. See how well PDP performed in SW, especially Ekiti and Oyo despite the crisis and despite being in the opposition.

APC, a ruling party scoring zeros in the South East.

My guy, let's be honest and call a spade a spade.

Actually, INEC is doing the opposite of what they promised us. Why are Nigerians like this? I hope they are not somewhere manipulating the results!

Brother, yes, the election is not perfect, even the US election isn't. But it's been free and fair. INEC and Buhari have tried. Anyone who wins truly merited it.

Reality is beginning to dawn on them.

Nothing like manipulation. The election is free and fair, though not perfect. Anyone who wins deserves it. Buhari has tried. Kudos!

Labour Party, LP, has called for the cancellation of the ongoing presidential election as the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, cannot upload results into its server from the polling units.

https://ait.live/labour-party-calls-for-cancellation-of-presidential-election/

Labour Party should stop overheating the polity. How free and fair do they want the election to be again?

Regardless of who wins, this election, to me, is one of the most free and fair elections ever in Nigeria's history. Those who lost should accept defeat in good faith and try again if necessary.

Politics / SW Election Results Prove Yorubas Are Not Tribalistic As Portrayed By Obidients by Lelelalalele: 8:39am On Feb 26, 2023
I hope Obidients and others would stop accusing Yorubas of being tribalists! This year's election is proof.

See how Obi is doing well in Lagos, despite being Igbo.

See how Atiku is doing well in the South West despite being Fulani. Even Ekiti State that I expected Tinubu to get 90% and Atiku 10% really shocked me. Even Oyo State, despite the crisis, Atiku is performing well. Same for Ondo. Atiku might even win Osun State.

Honestly, it'd be unfair and wicked if you don't change.

My respect for the Yorubas has grown tremendously because of this. When I first saw the results, I dismissed them as fake news until they became clear. That's how Nigeria should be.

Politics / Assessors Endorse Atiku, Sharafadeen Alli, Ajanaku As Most Qualified Candidates by Lelelalalele: 4:04pm On Feb 23, 2023
A non-governmental, non-profit and non-partisan organisation, Research Center For Integrity Assessment & Evaluation (RCIAE) has endorsed the candidatures of the former Vice President of Nigeria, Atiku Abubakar of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Chief Sharafadeen Alli Alll Progressives Congress (APC), Oyo South, and Accord House of Representatives candidate for Ibadan South West/North West, Otunba Rotimi Ajanaku in the elections coming up on Saturday, February 25, 2023.

Speaking at the press conference organised by the research center in Ibadan on Wednesday, the secretary of the organisation Mr. Bolaji Aremu described the process that produced the three candidates as rigorous and thorough.

Giving details of the process that led to their emergence as best and suitable candidates, the secretary said proper investigations were carried out to reveal all the needed information about their characters, reliability, dependability, commitment to the causes of the people in their communities, their background, personality and contributions to their various communities and state.

According to Aremu, family background and upbringing stand Sharafadeen Alli and Rotimi Ajanaku out from others that are contesting with them.

Aremu said, “we discovered in our findings that both Sharafadeen Alli and Rotimi Ajanaku are product of good yoruba parenting style.

“The two candidates we have examined from Oyo State so far are best described as ‘omo ani’bi, ni’ran’, children born of responsible parents and reliable families. According to information gathered from residents, youths and leaders in their various communities, Sharafadeen Alli and Rotimi Ajanaku are very responsible, accessible, approachable and very familiar with happenings in their community.

“It’s important to also let you know that we have possession of the undertaking signed by each candidate, therefore we have no doubt that they will change the fortune of the people in their communities and Oyo state in general if voted for on Saturday.

“We are assuring members of the.public that after the election, RCIAE will continue monitoring, evaluating and assessing the performances of all elected politicians through the federation to compel politicians to give back to the society that offered them the juicy positions.

Speaking on the choice of Atiku Abubakar as a preferred presidential candidate, the secretary explained, “after putting all variables into consideration, the researchers from the center who investigated, evaluated and assessed came up with convincing reports which rated Atiku higher than the 2 other candidates, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Mr. Peter Gregory Obi.

“Our unbiased report had it that Peter Obi remains the candidate with low cases of alleged looting of public fund and corruption out of the 3 most popular candidates examined by RCIAE. Though most of these cases are mere allegations which are yet to be substantiated by the competent court in Nigeria. Besides, governance at both state and national levels required more than being free from allegation of corruption to enjoy a sustainable economic development.

“On security, Atiku scored higher marks than Tinubu and Obi, being a northerners, an ex custom Chief, former Vice President whose tenure enjoyed relative peace, he has required experience to end insecurity. It’s also on record that Atiku Abubakar has never led political thugs to any state for election victory, neither has he invited any tribe or group against another tribes in Nigeria. He never encouraged thuggery or hooliganism

“With the present economic situation, Nigeria needs a proactive leader with milk of human kindness not a leader who wouldn’t mind to add to existing sorrow of Nigerians by imposing incessant taxes on them, including excise duty and others. Peter Obi’s experience as a former governor of Anambra state is not enough for rule over Nigeria considering his achievements while in office. For Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, he did a wonderful job as a governor of Lagos State, but masses were at the receiving end of his imposed taxes. Whereas, Atiku Abubakar was the head of national economic management team while in office as vice president and Nigerian economy really developed within this period. Atiku is also discovered to be an investor in the agriculture.and manufacturing sectors.

“Experience also count, Atiku is the most experienced among the contestants, he is familiar with the terrain, he knows nitty gritty of administration at national level. One of the problems dragging back the progress of this country is the national assembly, only experienced president can succeed with the operational style of Nigerian legislators.

“The amount spending monthly on security vote out of the national budget is better not stated here and those benefitting from the insurgences are not interested in putting an end to their activities. With Shettima besides Tinubu Nigerians are in doubt of their capacity to put off the burning fire lighted by terrorists and Boko Haram faithful. It’s better to have someone who was there for 8 years without suffering incessant attacks from insurgents.

“We also looked critically into zoning problems and arrived at the conclusion that, southerners are very unfair in their agitation. Former President Olusegun Obasanjo spent 8 years, Yar’ Adua came in with Goodluck Jonathan as his vice president. Unfortunately, Yar’ Adua died after 2 years and his vice completed his tenure. After the completion of Yar’ Adua 4 years, Jonathan indicated interest to contest, meanwhile northerners disagreed and insisted a northerners must complete Yar’ Adua second term but southerners rallied support for Jonathan and he won, depriving the north opportunity of enjoying 8 years like Obasanjo.

“Another angle to the issue is this, Obasanjo a southerner spent 8 years, Jonathan also a southerner spent 6 years, in all southerners have enjoyed 14 years. Whereas, Yar’ Adua spent 2 years and Muhammad I Buhari also spent a years, in all till date the north has just spent 10 years as against 14 years spent by the south. There for who is cheating who.

“Lastly, we have 3 regions in the south, Yorubas from the Southwest, spent 8 years, Jonathan from Southsouth spent 6 years, Southeast hasn’t been given opportunity, yet yoruba is shouting (emilokan,) it’s my turn, where is the spirit of fairness, justice and equity?,” Aremu queried
