Audacius: IT SEEMS they have done an integration of the various existing systems that hold investors' data and MAYBE we no longer need to fill e-dividend forms.
I bought some stocks for the first time recently and I started getting emails from the registrars. I also observe that the e-dmmms platform is longer active. It has been like that for some time. People have been mentioning they have been getting dividends they did not fill forms for. I have too. But I observed such go into my savings account while the ones I filled e-dividends forms for go into my current account as I requested when filling the forms.
I assume the system has a criteria on where to send dividends to if it sees multiple accounts, even if it goes into an account you would rather not use. But an unknown account, as in your case, complicates things further.
Automating dividend payment like this is a development that could be expected. But the problem I see is that one has to figure things out. There seem to be no communication on the matter at all or not properly done. I try to keep up with investment news but never seen where they indicated these "development". We just start noticing and figure it out. Can't they simply get account numbers from stock brokers? |

Locotrader: If you truly believe in a company and the price fall, just look for money and be averaging down.
This is what I have been doing and I am proud I did it. At last na great win for me as bull is decending on Japaul now.
Those who entered or averaged down today are winners from next week.
Thank you for acknowledging you don't loose money until you sell.
God bless Next week will be good 👍 All the best. |

Pawpawtea: What's driving IKEJA HOTELS please? The price has been going up the past few days. According to analysts, the value is over 50 naira. The price is low due to family issues in the company and the stock is illiquid. Ikeja Hotel is fully booked from September till March next year. That's massive cash flow 👌 Disclosure: I don't have this stock. |

awesomeJ: Exactly. Your own strategy is super boring to me, but sometimes it delivers 200, 300, 500% for you. so I don't tell you it's not a good one cos I know it works for you, why try to tell me what you think I should or shouldn't try when you do not actually understand my strategy. why not comment on just what you know? Don't mind them boss. Keep doing your thing provided it is working for you. |

Agbalowomeri: Election is in February 2027
Go check history for ASI performances the year before each election. Make someone help us with the data So people should stay away from the market for almost 3 years like you did? Most people here made over 100% ROI this year. You need to review your method and approach. |

iskalamong: You are on point.
However, timing the market helps to maximize returns.
Hence the “buy low, sell high” mantra.
It is an essential part of investing/trading.
However, I agree that trying to time the bottom or top is quite difficult.
Hence the saying “buy low, sell high” and not “ buy lowest, sell highest”.
This is where technical investment/trading skills come in. E.g fundamental analysis, valuation, technical analysis etc.
All in, while it is difficult to know or predict the top or bottom, it is crucial to be able to tell a cheap stock from an expensive stock. This helps in maximizing returns.
Like you rightly said, the effect of timing the market reduces the longer the holding period and the faster the growth of the company (stock).
For example: Regardless of timing, those that bought stocks like CWG, NAHCO, TIP etc some three to five years ago would be in serious money by now even if they didn’t time the market at the time of the purchase.
This is why Warren Buffet said it is better to buy a great company at a fair price. Over time, that fair price paid will seem very cheap due to the significant capital appreciation.
I am new to the thread.
It would be nice learning from everyone here.
Cheers
Iskalamong!

yMcy56: UBA just vexing anyhow.... - Even when they declared juicy interim dividend last year, the rally only lasted for a day..... - @42.15 full bid today.....for the second day.. - It was too battered during this CGT bear time.. The market is tricky. The eventual winners are those who hold valued stock for long period of time. Ordinary investors should leave price swings for traders (gamblers). It is extremely difficult to time the market accurately. |

To be honest, I never reach the 150m tax bracket but I foresee reaching there in the near future. So na my future I dey fight for like this . "... total gain do not exceed #10m..." . 10% of 150m has already exceeded 10m. I might as well just put that money in fixed deposit at 20% and sleep easy. The more I think about it, the angrier I get Which fixed deposit will pay you 20%? 🤔 Please tell me what I don't know. I am interested. |
