LePrezident:
For real? So a regular Joe walking on the streets of Lagos owns a crypto currency? Are there mainstream banks who allow deposits, withdrawals and trade in cryptos in Nigeria?

How did the rise and fall of ponzi schemes help better the fortunes of cryptos?

the name and use of bitcoin became prominent during the ponzi era last year. some people still erroneously equate bit.coin to ponzi.
following recurrent loss of money in such ponzi, people sought other means of making money and sought how to get the Nerd's gold. simply search on Nairaland for bit.coin and threads concerning it and check the number of replies to such thread. there are now groups on WhatsApp and telegram devoted to crypto.currency and its business as well as hourly information and seminars. also daily new recruits are more than 20 to 30.
when you see evidence as below you don't need much motivation to join the train.

LePrezident:
Hi, do you feel crypto currencies have permeated the Nigerian society/market well enough and do you see majority of Nigerians latching on to crypto currencies transactions in the next couple of years? Or do u feel that low education amongst Nigerians could be a barrier for a general acceptance of crypto currency usage in Nigeria....

why years? you would be surprised by the number of people involved in it. the rise and collapse of ponzi schemes saw a surge in crypto currencies and trading

okay I'm seriously confused here.

Well, I tried my Mastercard from Wema Bank. It was not accepted. As per running off with your money (N5,000), that is impossible. I am not that poor and irresponsible. Check my profile to confirm or ask old members here. Regards.

what's the course? I may have a coupon for it. check my past threads.

when this doctor decides to leave this country for greener pastures, people will complain of brain drain and how unpatriotic they are. if he gets another call for another patient in the night and refuses to come out, people will say how wicked doctors are.

ephi123:
Looks like it's a Domiciliary account.. but even then I'm surprised they would charge for that.
To the best of my knowledge, they do not charge for checking regular current and savings accounts balance. I don't know if it's a different rule for Dom accounts.

Have you spoken to customer care about this?

Modified:
Actually I just looked this up, ignore my previous response, USSD (Unstructured Supplementary Service Data) is a Global System for Mobile(GSM) communication technology that is used to send text between a mobile phone and an application program in the network. When you dial a number that starts with * and ends with #, you are using USSD. Second, USSD is currently the best available communications technology to deliver mobile financial services to low-income customers.

Did you check your balance using a SMS functionality?

again No. I checked my balance using the *737# service

ephi123:
That's strange. It could be SMS notification you are being charged for. As far as I'm aware GTB doesn't charge for checking account balance.

Nope, check below
