All this stress just to carbohydrate and protein of which only 20% will be absorbed and the rest discarded through the anus. Not worth my time. I rather use that time to gather some pawpaw, pineapple, spinach, watermelon and yogurt, blend them all together with ice chips and make the most irresistible smoothie packed with antioxidants, nutrients and fibers. No wonder most people have constipation and have rough skin turgor. You need to stop eating all cabs and protein only, rice, bread, garri, etc. All rubbish.

BTW, you do know that there is vegetarian shawarma using all the fruits you mentioned minus the dressing.

Uche Nwosu has the backing of IMO people. What I can't tell is how Okorocha convinced IMO people to be this loyal to his course.

so explain why the second result does not bear the official APC logo?

just spoke with someone who saw it happen it front of her.
she said it was an elderly man who was wearing agbada. she saw him by the side of the bridge while she was stucknin traffic.
the man was by the side of the bridge with the impression that he wanted to urinate. she watched the guy remove his phone and placed it on the ground. next he removed another bundle in the other pocket. next, without pause he stood up, climbed over the rail and jumped over.
she said she ran to the edge to watch; the man entered the water and sank. he didn't even struggle to stay alive.
it happened so fast that people around did not believe her when she started shouting.
the bundle he dropped contained his Stanbic ATM card, N500 , a Road transport worker ID card of isolo branch.
she was able to call contacts on the phone to notify them.
Depression is very real, people will be walking around with fine colourful cloths but those cloths are hiding a lot from the eyes.

World Bank backs IMF on poverty rate in Nigeria

The World Bank says unemployment and poverty rates increased in Nigeria despite an exit from recession in 2017.

The apex global financial institution made these remarks in a report made available to newsmen Thursday.

According to the report titled, “Nigeria Bi-annual Economic Update: Fragile Recovery,” policymakers at the federal and the state levels need to identify interventions that are best suited to realise development potential of sub-national regions and integrate domestic markets.

It said: “The decline in the non-oil and non-agriculture sectors, however, continued as aggregate demand remained weak and private sector credit low.

“The rates of unemployment and underemployment increased in 2017 and poverty is estimated to have increased slightly. Gross Domestic Product (GDP) growth in 2018 is expected to hover just over 2 per cent, largely oil sector-driven.

“Nigeria has a big home market, which is constrained by limited connective infrastructure, thereby reducing producers and firms’ ability to reach wider markets.

“Policymakers may want to focus on investments that reinforce clusters and economies of scale and optimise the connectivity between rural areas and the major urban markets.

“Policy makers must also address structural and land management issues in major urban nodes and along major growth corridors to remove or alleviate barriers that undermine the growth potential.”

DAILY POST reports that in March, the International Monetary Fund (IMF) said the country needed urgent and coherent policies because Nigerians were getting poorer.

Health / Toilets In LUTH Are Centres Of Disease Distribution, Hospital Worker Tells SERAP by Leopantro: 5:39pm On Sep 13, 2018
The Socio-Economic Rights and Accountability Project (SERAP) has revealed the derelict state of Lagos University Teaching Hospital (LUTH), National Orthopaedic Hospital, Igbobi, and the Federal Medical Centre, Ebute Meta.

SERAP revealed this in its 53-page report titled: 'Failing Healthcare: How Federal Hospitals are Letting Down the Poor and Making Healthcare a Privilege Rather Than A Right'.

In a series of tweets on Wednesday, the not-for-profit organisation posted excerpts of its findings on the state of infrastructure in the hospitals.

It revealed unhygienic conditions, and severe shortages of medical supplies in the hospitals, which contribute to make quality healthcare services difficult for many Nigerians.

SERAP tweeted: “Here are some testimonies on the deteriorating conditions at LUTH, other hospitals. A nurse at LUTH told SERAP, ‘The infant incubator or neonatal incubator is a rigid box-like enclosure in which an infant can be kept in a controlled environment for observation and care.

“Some of the incubators in LUTH are not working. It is either the heater is bad, or the monitoring mechanisms are not working. The incubators available in LUTH have been in use for over 15 years.

“A nurse, who has worked for four years in LUTH spoke to our researchers: ‘Some beds in different wards are too old to still be in use, but LUTH knows how to manage. Some of the available beds have become dilapidated Some beds can cause accidents. They have beds from which patients can fall. It has really happened, and I’ve seen it happen. But they keep managing.

“Another medical staff at LUTH said, ‘Even bed sheets are in short supply. Patients use their wrapper for bed sheets sometimes. And when they use LUTH bed sheets, they are usually old and torn most of the time.

“Toilets in LUTH are centres of disease distribution. You can be sure to get urinary tract infections and the like. I am referring to the toilets in different wards.’

“According to a senior doctor who spoke to SERAP, ‘There is poor water supply in LUTH and water is supposed to be an essential commodity, especially in a hospital. It’s deplorable to the extent that water does not run in the taps.

“You are seeing LUTH’s flowers and wall paints, but it is rotten inside. I will be right to say things are not working optimally in LUTH.’

“16-year-old Ngozi Eze (not real name), who was diagnosed with stomach obstruction and was referred to LUTH for an urgent surgery to avoid complications, shared his experience with us: ‘When we got to LUTH, we were told there was no bed in the general ward.

“We were referred to the VIP section and they said I would have to wait for about three weeks before the surgery could be done, because such surgeries are pre-booked; this was despite that my condition was critical.

“At the end of the day, we had no choice but to return to a private hospital where the surgery was eventually done.’

“Another nurse at LUTH said, ‘The facilities are overstretched. To see a specialist on clinic days you have to leave your home by 4am or 5am to be at LUTH by 6.30am to join the queue early. Even at that, there are no guarantees you will be attended

A new report by the Socio-Economic Rights and Accountability Project (SERAP) has revealed what it claims to be a“humanitarian crisis, manifestations of corruption and mismanagement at the Lagos University Teaching Hospital, (LUTH) Idi Araba.
It laments that unhygienic conditions, severe shortages of medicines and medical supplies in the hospital and two other Federal Government owned hospitals in Lagos make it extremely difficult for many Nigerians to obtain essential medical care.”
Apart from LUTH, the other two hospitals covered in the report are the National Orthopaedic Hospital, Igbobi (NOHIL), and the Federal Medical Centre, Ebute Meta (FMC).

The report says there is “a sharp deterioration in the quality and safety of care in the hospitals. LUTH, NOHIL and FMC do not have enough cancer treatment machines. Linear accelerator (LINAC), magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and CT scan machines are not working optimally due to erratic electricity even as the hospitals do not have back-up plans.”

According to the report, “A LINAC costs about US$5 million and the six that the Federal Government procured for six teaching hospitals have packed up. The dialysis machine at LUTH is outdated and its functionality at the time of study was zilch. LUTH recently lost its accreditation to teach dentistry because all its five dental chairs had packed up and there is no functional dental engine available.”

The 53 pages report launched on Tuesday in Lagos is titled: Failing Healthcare: How Federal Hospitals are letting Down the Poor and Making Healthcare a Privilege rather than a Right. The report presented to the media by Professor Dejo Olowu, Dean, School of Law, American University of Nigeria discloses that “vital medical supplies such as oxygen, diagnostic machines, dental chairs, sterilising units, burns apparatuses, were in pronounced shortage. Overcrowded waiting rooms and wards were noticeable.”

The report was part of the highlights of the public hearing held by SERAP to provide forum for people to provide testimonies and submit complaints/petitions on allegations of corruption they encounter while accessing public services particularly in the health, education and water sectors.

The research for the report was conducted between April and June 2018 using semi-structured in-depth interviews as the primary instrument for data collection.

The public hearing was attended by among others the representatives of the Acting Chairman of the Independent Corrupt Practices And Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC), Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), the Special Adviser to President Muhammadu Buhari on corruption, civil society, lawyers, the media, Freedom of Information Unit of the Federal Ministry of Justice, Nigeria Union of Petroleum and Natural Gas Workers (NUPENG) and the public in general.

The report read in part: “Our researchers observed that some wards have no mosquito nets. And there is no waiting area for mothers with sick babies There is the Gynaecology ward, at which entrance a small bench that could seat about four persons, was placed. The bench was occupied by patients’ relatives, presumably. At the end of the corridor where the neonatal ward is, there is a similar four-seater bench, fully occupied. The bench, having been occupied, a group of people were standing. At the neonatal ward, it was the same case. A waiting room for mothers whose babies are on admission was not part of the hospital’s plan. The mothers have improvised.”
It stated that, “At all the three study sites, derelict and obsolete equipment were commonplace. Most wheelchairs in LUTH are stiff and old. They are not in optimal condition. There is a poor maintenance culture. Not even the lifts are working well. One can easily get stuck in an elevator; so it is better to use the staircases.

“LUTH has its own laboratories but the doctors there prefer to refer patients to the private laboratory because private lab are considered to be more efficient and delivered results quicker.”

….“Nurses are forced to pick and choose patients to attend to. The ideal World Health Organisation (WHO) standard is five nurses to one patient. In LUTH it’s two nurses to 30 patients. In each ward, there are about 30 patients, and there are only about four nurses for each shift. In the afternoon, there’ll be two nurses, and in the night, there’ll be two nurses.”
On NOHIL, the report stated: “At Igbobi, no money, no treatment. Admission at Igbobi’s casualty ward is N5,000 per day. After the preliminary examination, tests and eventual diagnosis, patients must pay before they could be admitted into the appropriate ward for their conditions.”
“Patients get their syringes and needles, gloves, without it the doctor will not touch the patient. If they ask you for it and you don’t have it, they just walk away, they don’t have time. Privatization of laboratories is another ill that the National Orthopaedic Hospital, Igbobi, has in common with LUTH.”

According to SERAP, “This study sought to analyse evidence-based information on the causes of the failure in healthcare service delivery in Nigeria, using three of the frontline institutions of public healthcare delivery, namely, LUTH, NOHIL and FMC, all located in Lagos State, the most populous state in Nigeria and its commercial nucleus. The study solely focuses on healthcare service delivery systems at LUTH, NOHIL and FMC as representative of the experiences in their counterparts across the country”.

The group noted that there is a need to “Increase the transparency in the execution of the budget planning process by publishing income and expenditure reports, ensuring the release of assigned budgets to the health sector and projects implemented. Information on funded projects, on renovation and reconstruction will be vital to regaining the confidence of health workers and the public.”

Politics / Re: The Best And Worst Performing Governors In The South-East? by Leopantro: 9:20am On Sep 08, 2018
revolt:
I dont like rochas okorocha but let's tell ourselves the truth...rochas remains imo states best governor asides Sam mbakwe and ohalkim(clean and green initiative). Rochas turned imo into a metropolitan city. Now the argument isnt whether hes performed its usually the quality of work done and the fact he awards contracts to himself and wants to become another tinubu. Rochas should be compared with the likes of Peter obi. His biggest undoing ( in the eyes of the masses which dont mean nada)are his destruction of apga and joining a pc. Then his unpatriotic utterances against the igbo cause. Asides that hes set a legacy that the next governor would have to work hard to beat. Let's be realistic here not emmotional.rochas should be number 2 or 3. His worst policy was the failed attempt at free education which greatly marked the end of imo domination as national bests for decades.

if the free education, there is a story behind it but telling of the tale is requires time to mature

Not his fan though.
I still believe his scorecard is very poor, indeed unsatisfactory, however some of his projects are..
Dualization and expansion of several Owerri township roads
Dualization of Orlu - Ideato express way
Dualization of Orlu township roads (several adjoining dual carriageways within Orlu metropolis)
Standard general hospitals in each of the 27 LGAs (almost all of them completed)
Heroes square
Concord tunnel
Another tunnel along PH road
Completion of 2 flyovers linking Orlu road with Okigwe road (met the project at a level less than 15%)
Completed the renovation/expansion of Orlu Road from Warehouse.
Rebranded former Modotel to a five star magnicent Rockview hotel giving the Douglas a befitting look.
Also dualized Umuna Okigwe road by the express.
So many other structures like the Ikemba square, Ochiedike diagnosis centre, the ICC, the ecumenical center, Trade and investment center etc.
Eastern Palm University Ogboko
IMO state college of edu Ihitte Uboma
IMO state college of Nursing (along Orlu Owerri road Orlu)
Several modern markets (Mgbidi, Umuaka, Anara, Akokwa ) etc

Please note, I'm not based in IMO state but as my home state,i come in from time to time and everything I listed above here are projects I have seen with my eyes not on paper
Okorocha's greatest undoing is his attitude to civil servants where he has made workers salary look like a favour he's doing them rather a statutory obligation as well as their inalienable right... That's the Genesis of his downfall.

let's go through each item on your list one at a time.

1. Dualization and expansion of several Owerri township roads
Granted he opened new roads but calling them roads is an insult to the definition to the word "Road". within 6 months of finishing a road port holes appear and expand. the roads are so terrible that you are justified to drive one way in owerri on most of them. some of those expansion projects are so shabby that they are guaranteed not to last one year unlike when Julius Berger project that last 5 years or more. besides, the roads are done without consideration of drainage thus breakdown of the roads are inevitable. Indirectly, this increases transportation and logistics cost. for example, before the road construction project started i could drive from Assumpta church to Fire service in 10 mins. now i spend 45 to one hour for the same distance.

2.Dualization of Orlu - Ideato express way
kindly refer to explanation in point one

3. Dualization of Orlu township roads (several adjoining dual carriageways within Orlu metropolis)
Ditto

4. Standard general hospitals in each of the 27 LGAs (almost all of them completed)
i have visited the said structures in Isu, Nwangele, Orlu and for other places. what i saw are dilapidated buildings with overgrown grasses and no activity in them. the buildings are empty husks, a white elephant project that has been abandoned. of the 27 of such structures only 3 are working. the one at okigwe, the one at ikeduru and the one along the Aba road. i have visited all three and seen for myself that they are working. At the structure at Isu, i was chased by a snake.

5. Heroes square
to be fair he built a wonderful structure at Hero's square. but lately i dont understand what is going on there. i passed there this morning and he is expanding it, involving the road going to concord hotel and into the park in front of the hotel. i don't believe the man utilizes the master plan for owerri. he just wakes up and decides this he what he wants. as typical as his projects, the work is already shabby.

6. Concord tunnel & Another tunnel along PH road
permit me, i combined the two projects together
you are joking right?
the two tunnels are so dark that even at noon you develop a primordial fear driving into it. while in the tunnel the structural integrity is so poor you realize you have not written your will when you are in the middle. the road above both tunnels, leading to and away from the tunnels are so bad that regarding the second tunnel close to First bank, you cant drive into the tunnel except your shock absorbers are brand new. there are online pitures of a jeep that was submerged into water while driving through the tunnel during a storm.

7. Completion of 2 flyovers linking Orlu road with Okigwe road (met the project at a level less than 15%)
the flyovers ( and i use the word loosely) are shabbily completed but the roads are not. kindly view the picture below of the road to the flyover at the Orlu road and the road After the Okigwe road. while on the subject of Flyovers (again loosely used) compare the picture of the said bridge to that at Awka and consider the duration to completion of both projects

8. Completed the renovation/expansion of Orlu Road from Warehouse.
i regret i did not take pictures of the flood and port holes on that road yesterday while it was raining.this was a road completed about 7 months ago and already the port holes have taken over by force. the road demarcators are so shabbily done that a well aimed kick from a sick child can break it. some are already broken by the wind.

9 Rebranded former Modotel to a five star magnicent Rockview hotel giving the Douglas a befitting look.
firstly, the hotel is at the beginning of wetheal and Bank road, not Douglas. Secondly, are you sure you know who owns the hotel?
are you also aware of the story behind that hotel? why didn't you mention the library, sorry the boutique, sorry the abandoned shabby building in front of the road to the government house?

10. So many other structures like the Ikemba square, Ochiedike diagnosis centre, the ICC, the ecumenical center, Trade and investment center etc.
Eastern Palm University Ogboko
if i start the story of each and everyone of the structures you mentioned here night will come day will break and the story will not have finished.

11. Several modern markets (Mgbidi, Umuaka, Anara, Akokwa ) etc
its exactly one year that those markets were torn down and yet neither have they been completed or have been utilized by the people he said he tore it down for. we are not talking about the market at Naze. if you doubt me, ask anyone back in the state to send you pictures of the markets you mentioned. the completed structure and people utilizing them.

by the way, these are basic infrastructures you expect the government to do for the people of the state. if these have an issue then what about the extra services ?
