Putting aside their differences, Peter Okoye took to his IG page to celebrate himself and his twin brother, Paul, as they turn a year older today, November 18th. They are 36 years old today. Paul also celebrated peter and himself.

Peter okoye shared an photo of them and wrote;

P-Square are Nigerian R&B duo of identical twin brothers Peter Okoye and Paul Okoye. They produced and released their albums through Square Records. In December 2011, they signed a record deal with Akon's Konvict Muzik label. In May 2012, they signed a record distribution deal with Universal Music's South African branch. Born 18 November 1981 (age 35)

On 25 September 2017, numerous media outlets reported that the group disbanded. Reports about a breakup surfaced after Peter reportedly sent a termination letter to the group's lawyer. Prior to this report, the duo disbanded in 2016, supposedly over a disagreement about the role of their manager.

A Cameraman with the Anambra Broadcasting Service (ABS), Ikechukwu Onubogu, has been found dead four days after he was declared missing by members of his family. Kanu was at home with his family on Sunday, November 12th when he received a call for a job. He picked up his camera and told his pregnant wife he would soon be back. That was the last time they heard from him.

The matter was reported to the police and after much investigation, his decomposing body was found by men of the Nigerian Police Force at Obosi, near Onitsha yesterday November 16th. His body has been deposited at the Amaku morgue, Awka for an autopsy.

The Managing Director of ABS, Uche Nworah, expressed shock at the death of the cameraman whom he described as a hardworking staff.

“The horrific death of our beloved and hardworking staff, Onubogu, has thrown the entire ABS family into mourning. He was dedicated to his job and would do anything to capture images that will help viewers to make meaning of every developing story. We will surely miss him. We cannot speculate at this time the circumstances leading to his death as the police is already working hard to unravel what happened. Our thoughts remain with his family, particularly his wife, who recently gave birth,”

The state police has vowed to apprehended those behind the killing of the deceased.

A Nigerian man has landed in serious trouble after allegedly kidnapping his Facebook girlfriend and demanding N4 million for her release.

A 16-year old girl, Victory (surname​ withheld) has tasted the ugly side of social media after she was reportedly kidnapped by her Facebook lover in Edo state, by a man she met on Facebook.

In a report by PM News, the 24-year old kidnap suspect, Michael Duda, was paraded in Benin, by the Edo State Police Command on Thursday, alongside 104 suspects arrested for various crimes, ranging from kidnapping, r*pe, armed robbery and cultism at the headquarters of the Edo Police Command.

Micheal, an OND graduate of Business Administration from the Federal Polytechnic Auchi, said he got to know Victory whom he met on Facebook, after she accepted​ his friend’s request.

He said as their friendship grew stronger, he decided to invite her to his house which she accepted.

He however denied that he abducted her against her wish, adding that both of them planned her kidnap to raise money.

The teenage kidnap victim who admitted that they became friend through Facebook, said Micheal invited her to come to his house, which she obliged.

She said getting there, Michael abducted her and kept her for four days, sexually assaulted her and also demanded for N4 million for her release.

“On Thursday, at Ebike village, Ogheghe, bypass, Benin City, Michael, deceived me by inviting me to his house and when I got there, he told me we should plan kidnapping so that I should stay in his house.

“I met Michael on Facebook last month through a friend request he sent me which I accepted.

“I spent four days in his house. He made a call to my father and asked him to pay the sum of N4 million into his own account. He forced me into sleeping with him,” she narrated.

Michael however denied demanding for N4 million ransom, saying that he demanded for “just N2 million.”

“I live at Ekae community, off Sapele road. She came to my house. We planned to collect money from her father to raise money for our marriage but I did not collect the money again. She stayed in my house for four days.

“I couldn’t tell the father I want to marry his daughter. She said her father would not support the idea because she was yet to go to the university. She was with me for four days. The man said he has no money to pay. I was at home with the girl when police came and arrested me.”

Elder sister of Victory, who gave her name as Rodha, said her sister was sexually abused before the police rescued her.

On the alleged plans by the two lovebirds to get married, she said: “My sister is 16 years old and has never slept outside before. She told me they met on Facebook and the boy professed love for her. When she went to the house, she said the boy hatched the plan and said he would collect N10,000 from our father but the boy demanded for N4 million.

“He will lock her inside the house and called us, threatening that he will kill her if we did not pay. He took advantage of my sister’s condition.

“She told me the boy is 21 and a student, but she later saw that it was a lie. We took her for treatment after the rescue.”

The State Commissioner of Police, Johnson Babatunde Kokumo, who paraded the suspects to journalists, called on the members of the public to furnish the police with useful information that could lead to the arrest of all criminal elements in the state.

He said the command is ever ready to partner relevant bodies in the state to get rid of crimes and criminality in the state, adding that the suspects would soon be charged to court.

The traditional ruler of Umueze Community in Mbaitoli Local Government Area of Imo State, Eze Opara, has been arrested by the Imo State Police Command, for reportedly killing a 25-year-old IMSU graduate, Uchenna Opara a.k.a Junior on Wednesday. Punch gathered that the ugly incident occurred around 6.15pm at the community’s primary school playground, which pushed the youth of the community to set the Monarch’s palace ablaze.

An oil mill belonging to the monarch, which was a stone’s throw from the palace, was also caught up in the torching operation carried out by the youths, which destroyed the suspect’s Nissan car.

Speaking to newsmen, Bethel Iwuoha, said the 2017 graduate of Library and Information Science of the Imo State University, Owerri, was shot on the chest after one of the monarch’s security guards, Atuonye Opara, allegedly cocked the pump-action rifle while the monarch allegedly pulled the trigger.

Junior was rushed to a police clinic at Amakaohia where he was confirmed dead, as the Monarch and his security aide hurriedly entered a car and fled from the scene.


Bethel who accused the Monarch of using his guards to intimidate indigenes of the community, said the incident occurred after the community’s youths who made use of the playground for their football training, protested that the son of the monarch, Temple Opara, could not take over the field with a football team he brought from Port Harcourt, Rivers State, without informing the youths who had been cleaning the pitch for a long time.

He said the Prince then gave the youths N10,000, which infuriated the monarch who demanded that the money be handed over to him (Eze).

“While we were training on Wednesday evening, the traditiaonal ruler, who was returning in his car with Atuonye, reversed and headed for the pitch. They both alighted from the car and started shouting at us.


“The monarch said we were challenging his authority in the community. While he was shouting, his security guard went into the car and brought out the pump-action rifle.
“The monarch took the gun and wanted to shoot us, but his personal assistant attempted stopping him. It was in the course of struggling with his PA that a bullet went out and hit Junior on the chest. The traditional ruler, out of fear of attack from the youths, abandoned the gun and fled,” the youth leader said.
At the family compound of the slain graduate, his father, Franklin Opara, a retired customs officer, said it was the monarch that killed his son.
“Junior was supposed to proceed on his National Youth Service Corps programme in March 2017, when he was killed. I was with him a few hours before he went to the field. He was not just my first son, but my first child. I call on the government to give me justice. My son cannot die in vain,” he added.

The state Commissioner of Police, Chris Ezike, who confirmed Eze’s arrest further disclosed that the murder weapon has been recovered.

He said, “We have moved in to restore normalcy. We are in touch with the community leaders, including the Deputy Governor of the state, Eze Madumere.
“As I speak with you, the Owerri area command has moved in with operatives to ensure there is no more breakdown of law and order in the community. It was the murder that precipitated the arson. It is a case of murder and investigation is ongoing.”

Men of the Special Military Task Force, Operation safe haven, STF, Jos on Tuesday, paraded two women arrested with a four day old baby suspected to have been bought from a yet to be identified person.

The suspects, Doris Egbufurum, 39 and Esther James , 40 were said to have been intercepted with the baby at Babale Gwam checkpoint , a boundary between Plateau and Bauchi states around 7. 15pm on Monday, November 13.

It was gathered that a vigilant passenger in the vehicle raised alarm after she noticed that the newborn may have been stolen.

Commander of sector 1, Operation Safe Haven, Colonel Musa Etsu-Ndagi, who spoke to journalists shortly after the women were apprehended, days upon interrogation the prime suspect, Ebuburonu who was travelling to Lagos en route Jos from Bauchi, had confessed to have bought the baby for 300 thousand Naira.

"The suspects were intercepted at about 7:15pm on Monday and upon further questioning, it was discovered that Ms Doris had bought the baby. A passenger in the vehicle raised the alarm that she suspected that the baby with the two women was stolen because neither of them appeared to be her mother. The troops arrested them and investigation revealed that they bought the baby girl from one Mr. Abuna in Bauchi State for N300 ,000.

Miss Ebuburonu explained that her aunt in Lagos, who has been married for years without a child, had contacted her to get a baby for her.

"I was taking the baby to a woman who has been married for a long time without a child . She sent N 320 ,000 to me for the job. I bought the baby for N 300 ,000 and wanted to use the N20 ,000 balance for transport from Bauchi to Lagos, ” She said.

The other suspect, Mrs. James explained that they were former colleagues at the Peoples Clinic in Bauchi and denied any knowledge of how Ms. Doris procured the baby.

Colonel Etsu-Ndagi said the baby was handed over to the anti trafficking unit of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps Jos, Plateau state.

He said OPSH was making efforts to hand over the baby to the National Agency for Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP)

"NAPTIP does not have an office in Plateau State; their closest office is in Makurdi, Benue State." he said.

He assured the Corps of the STF’s maximum cooperation in apprehending those behind the sale of the baby.

In a bid to check drug abuse on campus, the University of Lagos has provided a drug test kit in its medical centre to examine students suspected to be on hard drugs.

The institution said no less than 100 illicit drug users were caught within a year of commencement of the tests.

Outgoing Vice-Chancellor of the institution, Prof. Rahaman Bello, confirmed this at a forum with News Agency of Nigeria in Lagos.

Bello said the initiative was necessary because drug abuse was on the increase, generally, in the nation’s tertiary institutions.

“Drug abuse is a major problem for every institution, particularly those in the cities. We have gone ahead in the University of Lagos to address it.

“With the test kit, anyone who is suspected, his/her urine or blood — depending on what we want to do — is collected for test.

“The thing about drug is that when you take it, it will be in your blood for a long time, so you cannot say, ‘I did not use it’ once the test kit detects it.

“Before we started using the test kit, everyone we picked denied using drug since we could not find any evidence,” he said.

According to him, with the test kit, the university has been able to pin down victims, but granted them amnesty.

He said although the university’s regulation provides that any student found dealing with drug should be expelled, the management had been warning and rehabilitating culprits.

“With the rehabilitation, the victims are given two or three semesters to ‘get clean.’ By this, we mean they will visit the medical centre on a monthly basis to get tested.

“If, after two or three visits, you are found clean, we will admit you back to the system; if not, you are sent out.

“This we do not to unnecessarily punish them, but to assist them to find a way to regain themselves,” he said.

Bello said about 100 students of the university were detected to be using hard drugs in 2016.

“One hundred out of over 50,000 students (35,000 full-time and 15,000 to 17,000 part-time) may seem insignificant, but to us, one person on drug is a problem to the university community .

“If the individual is not stopped, he or she will influence so many others,” he said.

On cultism, Bello said it was a cankerworm in the education sector, just as are examination malpractice and drug abuse.

He said cultism affects even secondary schools and sometimes, primary schools also.

According to him, some institution in cities such as the University of Lagos would need to intensity efforts to check cultism because they are located in infested communities.

Bello said the university’s management keeps a watch on cult activities through intelligence network.

“We get to know once anything comes up, and we nip it in the bud. We may not have completely wiped off cultism, but it has been drastically reduced,” he said. (NAN)

At the moment, it seems Paul and Peter Okoye of Psquare have decided to sell all the joint properties they own and split the money so they can finally go there seperate ways with no strings attached.

Gistmore can authoritatively confirm that the duo have put up their 'Squareville' mansion up for sale. A visit to the mansion located on Lola Holloway street, Omole Estate this morning shows the 'For Sale' sign-post in front of the property and when we put a call through to the agent, we gathered that the twin building with a swiming pool, underground basement and other exotic features is up for sale at 320 Million Naira.

At the time when Psquare moved into the mansion in 2010, Peter Okoye was quoted saying, 'getting a land in Omole Estate (Ikeja, Lagos) alone is N100m. When you look at the house, especially the finishing, it is over $2million. When people speculated that the house was worth N300 million, we had not even finished the interior. What do you think is the cost of a mansion that has a swimming pool, six living rooms, ten master bedrooms, all fully furnished? It's far more than the speculated N300million'.

The brothers have several other properties in Lekki Phase One, Banana Island, Atlanta Georgia and other locations.

A Junior Secondary School 2 student of Government Day Secondary School, Tunga-Minna, who was allegedly impregnated by the Vice Principal, Malam Mohammed Mohammed, has been delivered of a baby boy. The minor gave birth at Injita village in Munya Local Government Area of Niger, last week.
Mohammed, who was arraigned on April 4, is currently standing trial on a two-count charge of unlawful sexual intercourse with a child and impregnating a female student.

The accused was remanded in prison for three months after he pleaded not guilty to the charge, before he was granted bail in the sum of N1 million by Magistrate Fatima Auna.

According to Auna, Mohammed’s action contravened sections 35 and 36 of the 1999 constitution and sections 341 and 342 of the Criminal Procedure Code.

The victim, who spoke with newsmen on Tuesday in Munya, disclosed that she gave birth to a baby boy at her native village because her guardian in Minna took her back to her parents in August.

She said that the Vice Principal had not come to see her, and solicited the assistance of the state government to cater for the child.

The minor, however, said that the incident would not stop her from realising her dream of becoming a Nurse.

“I am not happy to be a mother at this tender age, but I will not allow the incident to shatter my dreams of becoming a nurse.

“I want to return to school as quickly as possible because I still want to become a Nurse,” she said.
