Suspects allegedly planning to bomb Oko minimum security prison at Oredo local government area in Edo State, have reportedly been arrested by the police.


The state's Commissioner of Police Danmallam Abubakar confirmed the incident and also said that the four arrested suspects have already made confessional statements on the planned attack.

The police are reportedly on the trail of other suspects and have reportedly beefed up security around the prison after acting on an intelligence report of the dynamite attack.

Several women in Kalagari, Cameroon have had their ears chopped off by members of the Islamist sect, Boko Haram. .

The group attacked the village Tuesday night and chased away members of the village vigilante group, took the women hostage, before performing the inhuman act.

They were punished for allegedly passing information to the Cameroonian and Multinational Joint Task Force. The women were part of a vigilante group set up by the community.

The Catholic Diocese of Enugu state has been thrown into mourning as one of its resident priest, Rev. Fr. Paul Offu, was killed by unknown gunmen along the Ihe-Agbudu Road in Awgu on Thursday night, August 1st.

Fr. Offu was until his death the parish priest of St. James the Greater Parish, Ugbawka.

Details of how he was murdered is still sketchy but the matter has since been reported to the police. His friends have since taken to Facebook to mourn him. See their posts and photos of the deceased below.
