You earn 1.5M monthly and you are spending just 60k per month in this Nigeria. This might look so unrealistic to the caseworker. I will like to be more realistic with my UK visa application. Good luck! Abikeadebey: |
22,000 pound!!! in full !!!!! .... This is serious.... Abeycity4luv: |
No worries. Just a little question.... Did you use a visa Agent for your application? PLEASE NOTE, I AM NOT A VISA AGENT.... just curious.... I am not saying using visa agents are bad anyways The reason I ask is because I have seen someone interviewed and have little Information about the content of his visa application. Hence refused! Oluwabukolaanik: |
Yes, you can apply provided you have a CAS issued from the university. Every application is treated based on its own merit. However, to be honest with you, refusal based on not being a genuine student can be of the most serious refusal reasons. And it also depends on the specific reason given by the caseworker. Before reapplying again please, carefully review the specific reasons, and review your visa application form, your responses, answers, claims, etc. if you used an agent please request for the previous visa application form. It will help you. Cheers and goodluck peace 🕊️ Oluwabukolaanik: |
It can be up to 12 months on UKVI's page. According to various forum groups that I am. The minimum I have seen is about 6 months. Mostly around a year. All the best. Oluwabukolaanik:

Hmmm. Anybody wey wan japa can Japa. Yes, but plan accordingly. I japa too but everybody route and situation is different. I came via Global talent route and I have nothing to do with COS, including my dependent. But those that come via student visa and you are not loaded with cash. It is well. Hmmm. This reminds me of my uncle here in the UK. He told me he wants to come to UK. I explained to him pros and cons. But he was being sentimental. Now, he can't complete his school fees, he can't apply for PSW. He can't even raise money to apply for his PSW. I am trying to assist in my little way but he's still fighting me and reporting me to family that I set him up. I am not saying this to discourage anybody, but it's better to know the truth, and prepare accordingly. Go online and see for yourself and check the average salary in the UK, and now look at the minimum salary 41k for sponsorship for skilled worker visa (Excluding health and care and jobs listed in the TSL though) with is without dependant. Worst still more skilled workers visa is currently being cancelled than before in the history of UK. olola4: |
In my own opinion. Honestly I don't think he is discouraging people. I have personally assisted many people especially from here for thier visa (I NEVER DEMAND MONEY FROM ANYBODY and I WILL NOT). I still have have some of messages in my email. I have been busy hence very quiet recently. When talking about credit issues, I don't think Africa can compete with the western country. However when it is abused, it is not taken lightly. Sadly, most people, including our country people don't know how it works. Oyinbo doesn't do something based on emotions, they act based on evidence and data! The university are not being wicked, they are being faced with compliance issues and am sure they don't want to lose their sponsor license. Many UK sponsors especially skilled worker have got Thier sponsor license revoked. And it appears the next target are these universities. Agreement is agreement, that's how credit works. That's why they try to do these affordability checks before CAS. Am sure you are aware that some nationalties have been suspended from applying for UK study visa (Cameroon, Afghanistan, Sudan, etc). I don't pray for that to happen to Naija. All these is because of abuse. Unfortunately, when these happen, it doesn't only affects, some few people, every citizen of the country are affected. Some universities are also trying to do some internal measures but telling national of certain countries to pay more deposit Oga dey calm down . We all know how this thing work, u think it’s easy to cough out 40-50m naira instantly just like that. You are here defending the oyinbo system that are in support of financing as method of payment for good and services. Even their citizen can’t afford the tuition that’s why they created payment plan for them . A business or economy without credit or financing procedure would crumble . You think they don’t know the best way to meet up with tuition fee for majority of international students is to work while schooling ? They know all of these that’s why they even granted u d grace to come with dependent that would work without limit just so u can pay ur tuition balance . They even give u the opportunity to apply for credit card. At d end of the day it’s a win win scenario bcus the percentage of students that didn’t mess up that grace are higher than those that messed it up. Their economy and education industry keep booming , whereas u as a migrant gets a japa pathway There is no crime if one wants to travel via study route, work legally as d system permits and pay tuition balance. Stop discouraging us with your mean words please . No be everybody wey dey here be billionaire pikin. Probably u sef japa via same method but u are here condemning others and saying their idea is “m@dness”.
|
https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/visa-regulations-revised-table/home-office-immigration-and-nationality-fees-8-april-2026 UK visa application fees is also increasing from 8th of next month. My people can save some money if they can apply before the date. Peace AKAyomide: |
The penalty for forgery is immediate visa refusal and a mandatory 10 years ban! Please do your risk assessment before you proceed ! Good luck, peace ! Goodluck70000: |
As far as I know, universities contacting UKVI cannot push visa decisions. UKVI will do what they need to do, conduct all necessary checks and make the best decisions per candidate. Honestly if you contact the school and after few days and you get a feedback honestly your outcome is near. People need to understand that UKVI process several thousands of visa per day. The only time they can do that is exceptional (humanitarian or some very difficult situations). It is usually done via international house/ department of the school. And let us think like this, every school and everyone start contacting UKVI and everyone get outcome the next day. It doesn't work that way. At the moment when the universities are being very cautious with UKVI because of their sponsor license. My own opinion as someone who used to be international student for 5 years + glorifyGod: |
I won't be worried. Is your application standard or Priority. It's very common for those guys with priority applications. Even with standard applications too. So relax and hope for the best. Smile1234: |
It's not important to upload for all categories. You just include the one that is relevant to your visa type. It's usually the MANDATORY documents on the UKVI website. In short, It depends on the visa, also depends on the claims made during the application yourself. But for tier 4 study visa application it's not important to upload employment letter. It is optional. But other visa categories it might be very important. It's also very important that all applicants should always have documents to back up all claim during visa application. Verbal things is not an evidence Altern8tor: |
According to most people, they are using YOU KAY as a stepping stone. They already aware of the realities on ground. Cheers NiceLegs: |
Dear Stardeejay, Honestly you have limited choices in this situation. You have to provide to them what you have. I only hope you can leverage on the narration of the transferred fund of the said statement in your account. You can make some arguments with it but it's not a guarantee. Visa application is becoming too extra strict especially from countries with large numbers of asylum claims. Nigeria is sitting in number 4 though. They can request for additional information at anytime at thier own discretion. And when they do, they will verify from relevant authorities All the best stardeejay2: |
Dear Joe, Thank you for your question, the UK have about 6 different visa categories which is sub divided into roughly 40 different visa types. They also have different conditions of stay. So, the most important question is what is the intention and the purpose of the travel ?! Good luck. Joeboypondeck: |
Hi there, good afternoon. Click on the link below to understand everything about global talent visa including eligibility, endorsement, stages, field of talents, etc. Good luck. I am a recipient of Global talent visa. It is highly competitive. And it is not for anybody. If you have any questions, drop it here. I will provide answers at my earliest convenience time. But you need to sit down and read everything first. No DM please. No DM. So others can learn too. I don't want to duplicate efforts https://www.gov.uk/global-talent dydx2020: |
Dear Jago2016, Apologise for late response, I just saw this now. In as much that your TB test result is still valid, you can apply for your visa with same result. You don't need another result. Why do you want to do another test? Maybe am missing something. I used my Tb result, 3 weeks before it expires. You still have plenty of life in your test result 😀 Frequent exposure to XRAY is not really cool that's the reason IOM want you to do another 10 days before it expires. If you are reapplying, I will suggest you focus on the ECO's concern. All the best jago2016: |
Dear Colley, visa authorities requires a REGULATED BANKS. UKVI is not smiling these days, candidates with complete documentation are increasingly refused study visa. All the best! Colley: |
Some new immigration changes have taken effect from 11 November 2025. The list of changes is extensive, but here I will focus only on the Student visa maintenance requirements. The maintenance (living cost) amounts have increased, and applicants must now ensure they meet the new financial thresholds before applying. For your POF, please look at the new amount on UK gov.

I hope this helps. Cheers Fraih:

Dear Low sugar, IHS fees is £776 per year. For two years is X2. Good luck lowsugar: |
You have a valid point boss. There is no realistic ROI on a car on a short term, except bills. The only thing you can enjoy is the luxury and comfort especially if you have a family. So I won't say having a car or having a driving licence is a bad idea. But there is more to it. Cars are relatively cheap in the UK especially if you can drive a manual car like me. The problem is insurance, Tax, MOT, Fine, parking space, Drivers license and peelers etc. I was told but I didn't listen. I got my manual car in January this year. Paid insurance, Tax it and fix the MOT. I can't drive it with provisional license because. I can't use international drivers license because Its my 3rd year already in the UK. I didn't come as a student though. So no pressure. Theory test passed, but the practical test is a challenge and expensive. Despite the fact that I have more than 10 years clean driving experience in Naija, I was humbled. I started paying 40£ per hour. I know some people will tell you I have relative that can teach, get the car first. They will tell you they have Thier own shift and work to do. At the same time I have to work, it is from there I have to take care of myself and pay my bills and I will be paying another person. You can't drive alone with provisional license. I did strong head and I was blue lighted by the peelers. I was lucky and I didn't receive NIP. I stopped going out with the car. After 10 months, and I spend 2000 pounds for lesson and test booking, I finally passed my practical test and am good to drive. Then I ended up using the car and park it at work. As for the Uber, you can't use ordinary licence to drive Uber, you need additional permit for private commercial vehicles. For delivery they are paying far below minimum wage. That's my own personal experience. Good luck and God bless everyone The same, if you are not making money with that car and you are on a limited income then you got no business buying a car. Driving the car to work and park it then drive home after work...is not what i meant by car making money for you.
|
I just checked mine now. It's been processed too. Funds is now in the portfolio. Thanks everyone. emmatony: |

Dear colleagues and seniors, am new here, I just want to know, I funded my GTBANK MMF wallet yesterday evening and it is not yet appearing in my portfolio. What is happening please 🥺. I use my mobile banking app. Does it delay like that ? First timer oyeendharmolah: |
Dear Vennysing, Am sorry for what happened to your visa. Honestly speaking, I will suggest you request for a refund from the school. Administrative review takes forever to be processed. And the outcome is not guaranteed. Especially when the registration/enrollment have commented in the school. Please note there is so little that the school can do regarding the visa outcome. Please note, the reason for the visa rejection need to be fully addressed to avoid future visa application. Am sorry maybe you are not expecting my own type of suggestion/advice but that is what I think Vennysing: |
Dear ohlordhavemercy, Am sorry for your loss. As per your study visa application, this is my honest advice. I am not an immigration expert but only telling you what I think and I won't like you to take me too serious. 1) It is completely normal for universities in UK to request for POF before they issue CAS. Not only because of your situation, although an extra layer of scrutiny may be applied to you because of multiple differer. 2) Most people usually use the same POF for school and UKVI. That's fine, the most important thing is the genueness of the funds. 3) I won't sell all I have to come to the present UK with the current situation of things. Except you hear the voice of God that is telling you go I am with you yourself. 4) IHS is only refundable if the visa is refused, application withdrawn or you qualify for health and care worker reimbursement scheme. 5) It is in your best interests to let them know you have visa refusal from France during CAS and Visa application. All the best mate. ohlordhavemercy: |
wishgit:Dear Wishgit, As per your question and this is my honest take. With the current situation of things (immigration politics, new rules) and the reality on ground (unemployment rate keep increasing). It's not sure for the anybody, especially in recent times. But in your situation, with your proposed course of study (PhD structural engineering) which is a STEM course at PhD level. You have some advantages over the Non STEM courses. 1) You are eligible for PhD Points, and again PhD STEM which is +20 points. This means you can benefit highly from salary discounts 2) Your field is still mentioned in the TSL, Building and civil engineering technician is still available in the TSL, 3113 or 3113 I think. If you are good technically you can be lucky to get hired with little training. 3) From January as announced yesterday PSW will now be 18 months for Masters while they said PhD still remain 3 years. 4) You might be lucky to work with good academics and do some interesting research which will be beneficial for the UK. This can get you some options like Global talent visa which I am currently using in the UK which eliminate the sponsorship wahala. Like me I don't need sponsorship and I will never need for me and my dependant. PhD is the minimum requirement in Science and Engineering. This is the bottom line, UK of today doesn't promise anybody but you still have some career advantages relative to someone studying certain courses (unfortunately these courses are lot more) which are very hard and difficult to land sponsorship roles. It is a reality. You requested for advice and a just gave my 2 cents. We are all adult and we know the best. all the best in your career. |
Dear LudaChriz, As a PhD holder and as someone who has mentored PhD candidate/students. In science engineering (that's is my area), the PhD supervisor personality himself is very important. A bad supervisor even at the best university can make student life miserable. I have seen some PhD supervisor converting student from PhD back to masters and I have seen some students who take forever to finish there programme and some never finish. And the student will be paying school fees every year. That's is why in sciences u usually identify your supervisor before you commence. Unlike MSc, your degree is usually within the domain of the supervisor and it is rigorous research. LudaChriz: |
PremiumTrends:Only one option is if you have someone you can trust. The keywords here is Trust because we have seen some situation where the the payer request for refund and the student is unaware, another instance is incase you seek for refund for some refund the money goes to the payer again. Therefore if you can't get someone that is sure, the flywire seems to be a good option at least your mind will be at peace. |

It's possible, it is just a digital document but it will never show your immigration status. Hence it is useless. Even if it shows immigration status, it is usually your previous status (that is if you are extending or renewing visa) I will not advise that because it's confusing, according to what I read, the system will assume you already have a decision on your application. Hence some people wait forever or do paid call before they get decision. Peace |
... I and a lot of people who moved in 2023 as students don't have any sponsorship jobs waiting for us, and we are all in a better visa, which is not even a health and care visa. You can check my 2023 post here to see when I was granted a visa.
