The strength of the 1st team has no relevance to fergie fielding Carrick and Fletcher at CBs, O'Shea and Gibson as CMs, Park at RB, Doctor Owen (MBBS) and the Da Silva twins as wing forwards to defeat the Reigning Buli champions away from home, and also keep a clean sheet in a 2-0 win vs Arsenal.

There were no excuses then - just results.

We need to raise the bar again and stop putting forth needless excuses for managers...especially when they fail to beat 15th placed Leeds at OT!
What are you even saying sef?

The same Carrick that has won Arsenal and City back to back is suddenly not good again because he lost to Leeds?
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) › Re: Official Manchester United Fan Thread:''20 Times EPL Champion by Leyqute(m): 11:02am On Apr 14
Even your Fergie recruited consistently with sense over several windows to build the solid teams. Once a player is showing consistent signs of mediocrity or doesn’t fit into a part of the team, he didn’t waste time in discarding them, whether they’re new or old.

Heinze, Veron, this black midfielder that we sold to Inter I think, etc. He doesn’t allow them to contaminate the team.

We need to move on Ugarte and Zirkzee. Quickly. The former is not good enough and the latter doesn’t care. We can’t be down to barebones every time we have one or two major injuries. It’s bad.

Sesko f up big time yesterday, the game swallowed him up. So did Yoro. These youngsters clearly are not ready for the PL but they have the potential to be top players. If only we have capable first choice players in their positions to push them.

Casemiro at this level shouldn’t be starting for us. But ironically, he is currently our best midfielder 😭

Is it the fielding every week that made us lose yesterday?
You’re asserting that SAF fielded his second team against some clubs and won. But he didn’t do that in isolation. He still had a very strong first team and that is the main reason the team B is hungry to perform.

Up front is not settled bros, I doubt it that Sesko can lead the line at this club. He might just be an impact sub.
We can make do with Mbeumo up top. Sesko can be the number two until he decides to step up. Mount needs to be replaced with someone who can challenge both wingers. Same with Zirkzee.

One of the issues is that standards have significantly dropped at OT such that the Barest minimum is now seen as a luxury

Ferguson beat Wolfsburg away 3-1 and Arsenal 2-0 with these squads but in big 2026, 700m has to be spent before Man utd can comfortably beat Leeds at OT

I really miss those days of non - existent excuses
Did SAF field this lineup every gameweek?

With Case leaving, we need 2 players in the middle and maybe 1-2 defenders to support the current ones. Not another overhaul. Upfront is sorted, except maybe a right winger. So, 3-5 players with focus on key areas of weakness will do.

Carrick is just a temp with relatively few ideas. He’s done well, but I would not want to have him as a permanent manager.
I don’t mind that list at all. 3-5 additions worthy of starting games every week is okay. Wasn’t saying we needed an overhaul. We just need to continue building on previous TWs by weeding out outdated or ineffective players and replacing them with capable legs.

Helps us run am with the board.
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) › Re: Official Manchester United Fan Thread:''20 Times EPL Champion by Leyqute(m): 4:00am On Apr 14
Jamiu. Maguire is not the kind of defender we should have in our starting xi. But he’d still do a better job than Yoro today. We have to prioritize squad building to get back to the top.

But this has always been the stance of a considerable number of people here.

The resources at Carrick's disposal should definitely be doing better than what we saw today.

It was an embarassing performance to say the least.

Like you have noticed, how can Man UTD be "passive" vs 15th placed Leeds at OT?

I am seeing mentality issues in the team and chief - that one is on the manager to fix!

Carrick is being presented with a fantastic opportunity to sell himself and get the job on a permanent basis...especially with the percieved unavailability of big names. Unfortunately, it appears the man isn't interested
The TW is closed. That’s what I meant. Carrick has to make do with what he has.

In case you haven’t noticed, we’ve played in this same passive manner for the last few games. But sine we lost this one, the noise is louder.

The starting XI might look “better than Leeds” on paper but the truth is that games are not won on paper. If your team doesn’t put in the effort, they will lose.

This team is known for not putting in the effort UNDER SEVERAL MANAGERS. We’ve seen this movie before. Ole. ETH. Amorim, and now Carrick. What makes you think another change of manager will change things?
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) › Re: Official Manchester United Fan Thread:''20 Times EPL Champion by Leyqute(m): 3:37am On Apr 14
Jamiuokolaa:
There is a reason why managers are obliged to grant post match interviews - they are the ones responsible and accountable for results and performances on the pitch. Carrick has also acknowledged the fact that the 1st half performance was underwhelming.

It is also the job of the manager to "whip" his players back in line when performances are not at the required levels.

When I see tepid displays like this from VIRTUALLY ALL members of the group, the manager DEFINITELY has to answer.
Okay.
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) › Re: Official Manchester United Fan Thread:''20 Times EPL Champion by Leyqute(m): 1:12am On Apr 14
Jamiuokolaa:
So what happens before next season?
Carrick has to make do with what he has. Just get us across the line. 2 wins and 2 draws from the remaining 6 games is enough.

The funny thing is that we will easily amass those points if we just show up like we want to win. We are too passive.
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) › Re: Official Manchester United Fan Thread:''20 Times EPL Champion by Leyqute(m): 1:10am On Apr 14
Jamiuokolaa:
We have been strengthening and we would continue to strengthen but I'd rather not talk about TW after 15th placed Leeds dominated us at OT despite the club spending close to 250m in the last 6 months.

The manager CAN NEVER be exonerated with the performance on display tonight - it's just NOT possible!

Any man utd manager that needs a TW overhaul to perform well and beat 15th placed Leeds at OT isnt ready for the job!
Was it the manager running on the pitch?

The truth is that if we started this game with Magwaya and Licha, the outcome would likely be different. Let us build a squad that is strong enough first. That’s the harder part of the job.

If Bruno gets injured today, we definitely won’t make top 5. Selah

The fact is, Carrick got the same players to top 3 and will get them to Europe, by hook or crook. That said, it’s looking like he won’t be the permanent manager. It is what it is, whoever is saying that he should get the job is joking.
If Carrick loses the next match against Chelsea, top 3 will start shaking and your countenance will change again.

Forget all these ones you are saying. We need serious investment in the first team. Imagine playing every 3 days with this squad. Next season will be a disaster irrespective of who the coach is if we don’t strengthen the squad significantly.

INEOS decided not to appoint OLE because they weren't ready to commit to him long term, regardless of CL qualifications.

Now it appears they made that decision because they probably knew Carrick wouldnt be entirely convincing.

It's unfortunate how some of these managers fail to grasp golden opportunities with both hands...

Which high profile Manager fit dey available sef?

E be like say clubs don plenty wey dey find coaches.

•Real Madrid
•Liverpool (Maybe)
•Chelsea (Probably)
INEOS or Glazers? ETH was the manager when INEOS came onboard.

I think Arsenal can lose to City and still win the league, This city does not look like one that can go on a 10 match winning run
Setting up excuses already, I see. City is in a good position to win this league. Everyone knows that. Except maybe you- because of the Pep agenda you want to run.
