CareerUnder The Nigeria Labour Law Can I Set Up Business by LGDON(op): 11:13pm On Aug 10, 2019
Please I need an answer to this question, under the Nigeria Labour Law can a person working in private sector set up his own business while working.

I am very sure of the public sector, workers are only allowed to farm in the civil service.

Your contribution will help.

TravelSwedish Study Permit Refusal Please Advice by LGDON(op): 9:52pm On Aug 08, 2019
Hello everyone.

I am very confident that I will get some advice here

A friend of mine was refused study permit visa in Sweden embassy Abuja few days ago. He has paid tuition fee, accommodation etc. Yet they refused him the resident permit.

The reasons given was:

He could not demonstrate enough knowledge about the program he is going to study.. Here they asked him on the interview date to list the courses he will study.
He was able to list 2, they concluded that 2 is not enough. Atleast he should have listed 4.

They asked him about the city he going to study, he could not give satisfactory answer.

They asked him about Sweden, though he mentioned somethings about Sweden and answered the question. The migrationsverket concluded that he gave partial answer.

Lastly, they said he couldn't demonstrate how the program will benefit him after study. He said on the interview that he would return to his join and apply the knowledge to build his current place of work.

But later on the interview they asked the same question again, he wasn't consistent. He said he will establish a business after his study. The migrationsverket concluded he wasn't consistent and he is not sure of how the program will benefit him.

I want to help him appeal the decision and I need advice from my fellow nairaland. Please, if you have seen a situation like this you can assist me and contribute.

He has up to 16th of September to resume school.

Thanks

It is possible that the virus has been dormant all those years and only became active and detectable now. Different things trigger its activation...
The virus doesn't hide, if you have it. It will show whenever you conduct test. Just that it will be harmless if is inactive

if possible i was infected from childhood, then how come it took almost 35 years to test positive to hepatitis
Apart from the day you find out you have HBV, have you gone for test before.

HBV can stay in your system for 45 to 60 years without showing any symptoms.

So sad, even in western countries as a nurse or health care worker, you be required to reduce your viral load before they can post you to certain departments. Like operation room. They wont deny you employment.

HBV or HIV patients should not be discriminated against.

Yes I have done that and I was placed on a drugs from the hospital took it for like five month and I stopped taking the drugs when I noticed some side effect like pains in my liver I went for another test again but I have not Been able to see the doctor since then
Why did he place you on drugs, did he said your viral load is high and it affect your liver already.
My greatest concern is that there are few liver specialist in Nigeria, most hepatitis b patients don't need treatment. Again, it is not good to start treatment and stop along the way. Is better you don't start at all.

Were you having symptoms in your liver before he recommend drugs for you?

If you have your new test with you, join this Facebook page.

HEPATITIS B SURVIVORS.

Is a close group, upload your results there. Liver function test, Hepatitis B test etc. A liver specialist will tell you what your result shows.

An old man of almost 35 years how possible is that
Did he got it recently or he discovered it recently

The virus can stay in your system from birth till you are 40 to 50 years of age before it show symptoms.

It is better you discover it on time, showing symptoms at later stage mean you probably already have irrepiarable damage in liver. Cirrhosis of the liver is difficult to reverse which is the reason you must control the virus on time.

If it is not more deadly it is as deadly as HIV. Here in UAE if they detect just the scar of treated Hepatitis during your Residency medicals, you will be denied residency and asked to leave the country within 2 weeks.

A colleague of mine had it a Nigerian , “like play like play “ He was taken back to Nigeria by the company within one week.
That shows how dangerous they see it over here. Same with HIV.
Don't use the Middle East as an example, that place is a backward hemisphere.

No body decriminate in western countries. Except in military and as a student, you might not be allow to study medicine in school.

I don't think Africa countries discriminate as well

HealthWhat You Need To Know And Do When You Have Hepatitis B by LGDON(op):
So many Nigerians are not aware of the danger hepatitis b virus pose to their wellbeing. There is a little information and sensitization about the virus compare to HIV, Malaria and Tubaculousis. The worst of all there are no enough liver specialist to tackle this virus in Nigeria. Hence, most patient got wrong information about the virus from their normal doctors when they were first diagonised.

Hepatitis B is not deadlier than HIV

Most of the people diagonised of HBV don't need treatment, about 80 percent of them are in inactive stage.

Beacuse, most of the mainstream doctors in Nigeria are ignorant of this, they rush to prescribe treatment for patient. It is always better to consult a liver specialist.

The remaining 20 percent that are in active stage need to run hepatitis panel. Where you test for hepatitis A,B,C and D. Even the patients on inactive stage must do this as well.

Go for liver function test to see if the virus has started to damage your liver. Both active and inactive patients.

Majority of the people that have HBV got it as a child. Mostly from mother child transmittion. As a child your immune system is weak to fight the virus. With this the virus will settle in your system.

90 percent of adult that had the virus fight it off without taken any drugs. As an adult your immune system is strong to fight.

If you got the virus from birth and you are up to 30 years of age, go for ultrasound of the liver and fibroscan if you can afford it. I don't know if is available in Nigeria.

HBV is the only sexually transmitted disease you can prevent with vaccine. If you are vaccinated you don't need to worry about the virus.

If you were born in the 80s, you are in higher risk of getting the virus. The vaccine was discovered in 1981. It got into Nigeria late 90s. I learnt is recently the government made it compulsory for new born babies in Nigeria to be vaccinated. As you can see many people have it and they don't know.

Hepatitis B is not Hepatitis C

C has a cure since 2013, B is treatable

Some people that have HBV also have HDV, the reason you must conduct hapetitis panel.

If you are on inactive stage, it might be only change of life style you need for the virus to remain dormant forever.

Avoid alcohol, stop smoking, stop eating red meat, stop using oil to cook and fried food. All this affect your level and raise your viral load.

Eat alot of vegetable and fruits, exercise, drink good water and stay healthy. Your liver specialist might advice you to run test every 3 months or 6 months, even 1 year to monitor the virus.

If your doctor decide you are a good candidate for treatment, there are drugs to reduce the virus to undetectable level.

Even the few percentages that required treatment some do clear the virus after the treatments or those that doesn't take it at all. Scientist don't know why this happened in some patients.

The future is bright for those living with HBV

There are alot of promising drugs being developed to attack the virus from every lifecycle. There are rumors that there is a cure among the various drugs under going different stages of clinical trials

https://www.hepb.org/treatment-and-management/drug-watch/

What you need to do is to take care of yourself and stay alive till they finally approve these drugs for consumption.

Just like Hepatitis C virus that is now history, Hepatitis B will be history soon when a functional cure is finally discovered.

Thank God for this thread.

My new born's mom was diagnosed during her pregnancy period that turned positive. And they health centre workers demanded I come and run my test to ascertain if it infected me. But lo and behold I'm negative. But haven't taken any vaccine yet, only my new son has yet at birth.

My challenge now is that, we have being on formula for the guy since his birth now. Because the health workers advised we don't breastfeed him, unless the mother is vaccinated at a whopping sum of 70k. Which we strived to afford but they became unreliable somehow.

Now how do we start breastfeeding the boy, how do we start treating it and at which hospital can anyone here recommend and how do I do my preventive vaccine?

Thank you.
I will advice you to contact hepatitis b expert, a liver specialist for this issue or you like hepatitis b foundation Facebook website and ask your question there.

See my signature. PM me now
You can hardly transmit HBV through sex, most of the people who have it got infected as a baby. HBV vaccine was discovered in 1981, of cause it became available in Nigeria around late 90s. So if you were born in the 80s you higher risk of being infected.

About 90 percent of adults that got infected cleared the virus on their own without taken any medicine.

The most vulnerable are children who their immune system is not strong enough to attack the virus when they are infected by their mother.

The fact there are few specialist doesn't mean a general practitioner is ignorant about it
I am not saying they are ignorant about it, one need a liver specialist to effectively deals with the virus. Most of the advice am hearing from mainstream doctors are annoying. Recently I was told a girl committed suicide in Nigeria because of HBV, investigation reviewed that a doctor told her HBV is deadlier than HIV that she will not survive this which got her depressed. She actually had 160 viral load which is mostly impossible with someone with such viral loads to get sick for life. All she needed was a life style change

Many Nigerian doctor don't really know much about Hepatitis B & C viruses? something that is endemic in our environment? nawa
There are few expert treating this disease, not every medical doctors are liver specialist.

Speaking from experience, I see many Nigeria doctors recommend treatment for patient after they diagonised HBV which for most cases is not suppose. Lastly, they scared alot of patient about the virus which can be managed most of the time without even taken drugs for life, only 20 percent of infected patient need treatment the rest don't need any treatment at all except change of life style

does one require a viral load test or Hep B panel test to guide treatment for HBSag...plsss my number 07037388939
You have to do HBV panel, viral load, liver function test. to learn more about the virus before a knowledgeable doctor can administer you drugs.

If you got it from birth and you are more than 30 years of age o would advice you run ultrasound of the liver and fibroscan. If is available in Nigeria

So how come we have been having unprotected sex yet she is negative and have never taken the vaccine
Transmittion through sex is just 20 percent

Once Had Hepatitis B 2003, I can see the fear in the doctors at general hospital at island and my parent. No body thought I would make it out alive, I know what I went through, I was already in Hell. It was a miracle, something even no can explain except me.
Many Nigeria doctors don't really know much about this virus. The reason they scared patient when they diagonised.

HBV is a virus that can be controlled easily
