Don't give up, Sister. Despite the negative way people might have behaved, there are still some good guys and good girls out there. I experienced that during my days of seeking for marriage partners and I still see similar things happening despite the negative news we hear everyday about relationships.
Just trust God to make all things good!

Simple solution: Start calling guys in his presence. Tell them to feel free to call you too. Talk for long periods of time with them. Make sure you smile, laugh and joke while on these calls. Your man's brain will reset smiley
If he complains, tell him they're just your friends and you didn't quarrel with them

He might have lost his girlfriend, but he didn't lose his friend.

Talking to her in your presence means that he has nothing to hide. so my dear, do away with insecurities.
I disagree sir...There are still emotional ties between him and the ex girlfriend which is like a ticking time bomb that will explode one way or the other someday!

Good evening Nairalanders, please i need your sincere opinion on this issue bothering me.

I have been dating this guy for 9 months and our relationship has been going well except for this issue.

My boyfriend or should i say fiancé ( he has introduced me to his family as the woman he wants to spend the rest of his life with and my family is in support of the relationship) has been in contact with his ex-girlfriend who is married with a son.

My man spends 1-2hrs on phone with his ex girlfriend in my presence and when i confronted him, he told me to bear in mind that he can never stop talking to her because she didn't offend him and if she needs any monetary support, he won't hesitate to help.

They have no intimate relationship maybe cus of distance, He agreed not to call her but promised to take her calls when she does and she calls frequently.

Her husband also warned him to stay away from his wife but he wouldn't listen.

He is a nice guy with a good heart and we are planning introduction by December

I told him that if he can't stop communicating with his ex girlfriend the relationship is over but he still insist on maintaining contact with her...

Pls am i overreacting, How do i handle this??....mature advice needed!

sorry for the long post.
Move on, lady...move on! This so-called fiance of yours has something sinister up his sleeves. Don't be surprised if he and this ex-girlfriend get into bed before or after your wedding. No serious man or woman (Christian or otherwise) who has committed to marry a lady should be fanning up flames of past romance with an ex-girlfriend or boyfriend.

My bible tells me in Proverbs 6:27-29 that... "Can a man take fire in his bosom, and his clothes not be burned? Can one go upon hot coals, and his feet not be burned? So he that goeth in to his neighbour's wife; whosoever toucheth her shall not be innocent."
In addition, a local adage says that "a soup or food that you are not going to eat, you should not smell it." From the above, any man acting or behaving like your fiance has many questions to answer.

When I was in relationship and courtship with my wife back then, all communications with the ladies I previously proposed to, and those who I was friends with in church, were stifled and I focused on my communications with my wife (then fiancee) and my wife did same too. I don't know what is happening with my fellow men (and women) these days where they cannot break off emotional ties and become emotionally mature. Emotional maturity is critical for the success of any marriage. Financial maturity and age is just part of it, but not all of it.

You may also feel free to watch a YouTube video below titled..."The Problems of Sex With An "Ex" Before Marriage" which I made sometime recently. Why is God still interested in our choices of marriage partner/spouse?

He is the author and creator of marriage, thus He is interested in its success - Gen.2:18-25

Friends and brethren,

God and Love is paramount in having successful marriages.

The bible also says repeatedly that God is Love - 1 John 4:7-21. Where there is genuine love but no money, couples will bind together, pray, see possibilities and overcome at the end but where there is money but no genuine love, crisis will thrive and the marriage may hit the rocks. LOVE BINDS EVERYONE TOGETHER but MONEY DOES NOT.

Just like the saying " Your destiny depends on your destination"
Na you go find & search for a good spouse that meet your specifications with the help of God.
After finding, bring him/her to God & God blesses the union.
It's your job to find/ search.
Of course, its your job to find...the bible says "he who finds a wife finds a good thing"...but after you have searched for somebody, its God's job to give you a green light or red light on the lady or guy you have found because He alone knows the heart of men!

Kobojunkie:
Matthew 6 vs 33 says nothing of what you have here though.

Instead, the message according to Jesus is this, "Seek ye first the Kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added unto you... don’t worry about tomorrow(or who you will marry) . Each day has enough trouble of its own. Tomorrow will have its own worries".
You didn't understand the quote that I attached up there.

Matthew 6:33 says seek ye first the kingdom of God as a lot of us know. I never said the Quote above was Matthew 6:33 but it was a comparison to Matthew 6:33, that anyone who desires a successful marriage must seek to love God first and then his/her spouse, hence, all other good things that come with marriage - money, possessions, achievements, etc will be added unto them.

I hope you understand the analogy/logic in the quote above. Thanks for the comment/observation.

the only man who will die because of marriage is a man who marries a good for nothing wife... if you have a decent good caring and understanding woman by your side, thats countless of life blessings for you.

actually, the ones that are dying needlessly, are the single ones with nobody to share these life burdens with, in these difficult covid-19 times. at least a jobless married/dating man can ask his woman for a helping hand, who will the jobless single man ask for help....?! bet9ja operator or top olosho for street corner!?

Many have said that God stopped choosing spouses for people after Adam blamed God and Eve in the garden of Eden for eating the forbidden fruit - Gen. 3:11-12. This is however, a fallacy engineered by the devil to mislead people into making the wrong choices.

Let's get things right.

Hello Romantic Nairalanders,

Thanks for checking on this thread.

This video focuses on enlightening everyone of us about the fact that God is still interested in guiding us in choosing the right spouse whom we would spend the rest of our lives with. God created marriage relationships in the first place and He is very much interested in helping us get it right from the get go, hence giving us a home that would be a heaven on earth.

Since God created marriage, His desire is that you succeed in it and the starting point of success in marriage is choosing a spouse. Thus, as you go about your dating relationships, let go and let God guide you to the best spouse for you, in order to avoid stories that touch.

I hope you learn a thing or two from the video. You may also do well to click the SUBSCRIBE button in the Youtube video in order to receive my videos whenever I post them to Youtube.

THE MATTHEW 6:33 OF MARRIAGE 101 BIBLE

Hello fellow Nairalanders,

It’s a common saying that he who fails to plan, plans to fail. If you hope or plan to get married someday, it’s important for you to first love God because He is the author and creator of the marriage institution you intend to go into and NO ONE can succeed in marriage without Him. The GENUINE love of God in your heart will radiate outwards to your prospective spouse and help you find a spouse who genuinely loves God and you, not your money and possessions. Anyone who loves you just for your money, possessions and achievements does not genuinely love you and can never be a good spouse.

When you and your spouse love God and each other genuinely, it results in love, unity, sincerity and transparency, which are key success factors in any marriage.

When you and your spouse love God and each other genuinely, you are able to surmount the seemingly insurmountable, put the enemies to flight and achieve great things (MONEY, POSSESSIONS, ETC).

FRIENDS, you need the LOVE OF GOD operating in your midst to have a wonderful home/marriage that can be referred to as a HEAVEN ON EARTH! This is indeed ACHIEVABLE as many can attest.

See you at the top!

…MARRIAGE 101

NOTE - Comments and questions are very much welcome.
