Why are all major Tinubu supporters promoting Peter Obi their man Friday? From Keyamo to Fayose, etc; they want the coalition to present Obi. Why does it look like they are afraid of a northern candidate, especially the serial contester Atiku? Their fear is too obvious.Source Activist lawyer and public commentator, Deji Adeyanju, has claimed that key supporters of President Bola Tinubu are quietly backing former Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi, to emerge as the presidential flagbearer of the African Democratic Congress (ADC). Adeyanju alleged that prominent Tinubu allies, including the Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, and former Ekiti State governor, Ayodele Fayose, are subtly promoting Obi’s candidacy within the ADC. He made the assertion while reacting to Fayose’s recent comment describing Obi as the only viable figure within the ADC. Fayose had said, “Peter Obi is the only life in ADC. Other lives there are semi-existing. Atiku and Tambuwal destroyed PDP.” In a post on his X (formerly Twitter) handle, Adeyanju questioned the motive behind what he described as coordinated support for Obi by Tinubu’s loyalists. He suggested that their actions were driven by fear of a strong northern presidential contender. “Why are all major Tinubu supporters promoting Peter Obi, their man Friday?” Adeyanju wrote. “From Keyamo to Fayose, etc; they want the coalition to present Obi.” He further argued that the ruling party’s allies appeared uncomfortable with the possibility of a northern candidate emerging from the opposition coalition, particularly former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, whom he described as a “serial contester.” “Why does it look like they are afraid of a northern candidate, especially the serial contester Atiku?” he added. “Their fear is too obvious.” Adeyanju’s comments have sparked renewed debate within Nigeria’s political space, as discussions intensify around opposition realignments, coalition politics, and the search for a formidable challenger ahead of the next presidential election. https://voicenews.com.ng/tinubus-supporters-backing-peter-obi-for-adc-ticket-adeyanju/

Kingibe also addressed her recent defection from the Labour Party to the African Democratic Congress (ADC), explaining that the move was a strategic decision taken collectively by Labour Party members seeking re-election in 2027. Lifestylecom: |
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yADdJSckFSY The Senator representing the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Ireti Kingibe, has firmly dismissed claims that the Minister of the FCT, Nyesom Wike, poses a threat to her political future ahead of the 2027 general elections. Speaking on Wednesday, Kingibe said the minister has no influence over her chances of returning to the Senate, stressing that elections in the FCT are decided solely by voters. “Absolutely no,” she said when asked if she felt politically threatened by Wike. “Minister Wike cannot make me win, nor can he make me lose. He also cannot impose anybody on the FCT.” According to the senator, the FCT has a long history of independent voting patterns that defy political control, noting that no leader—past or present—has been able to dictate electoral outcomes in the territory. “From the time of former President Olusegun Obasanjo till now, hardly anybody controls how the people of the FCT vote. The FCT is simply not structured that way,” she said. Kingibe also addressed her recent defection from the Labour Party to the African Democratic Congress (ADC), explaining that the move was a strategic decision taken collectively by Labour Party members seeking re-election in 2027. “I moved to the ADC because that’s where all of us from the Labour Party who are intending to run in 2027 decided to go, including those contesting area council elections,” she explained. “You need a platform to run, and the ADC is the viable alternative for those of us in the opposition.” She emphasized that her defection had nothing to do with Wike, urging the minister to focus first on upcoming local government elections before speculating about 2027. “Let’s see what happens in the local government elections before he starts talking about 2027,” Kingibe said, adding that she doubts the FCT would be Wike’s political priority as the next general elections approach. Assessing the minister’s performance, the senator acknowledged areas requiring urgent attention, particularly waste management and healthcare delivery in the FCT. She lamented the poor state of public health facilities, claiming that many hospitals lack essential drugs and equipment. “Some hospitals in the FCT are empty. Beyond paracetamol, you can’t get anything,” she said. “These are serious issues that directly affect the well-being of the people.” Kingibe also urged the minister to show greater respect for the rule of law in the administration of the FCT, noting that governance must prioritize citizens’ welfare above political considerations. https://voicenews.com.ng/kingibe-wike-poses-no-threat-to-my-2027-re-election-bid/

The One Meal a Day for the Children Initiative (OMDCI) has reaffirmed its commitment to supporting vulnerable children, women, and the elderly across Nigeria in 2026. The pledge was made by the Founder of the non-governmental organisation, Mrs Ijeoma Nwokpoku, during the group’s first outreach for the year, held on Monday at Amudo in Aguinyima Community, Ezza South Local Government Area of Ebonyi State. Nwokpoku said the initiative is driven by the need to improve food intake among needy children, women, and the elderly, with the aim of fostering healthier and more dignified living conditions. According to her, ensuring that every child has access to at least one nutritious meal daily remains central to OMDCI’s mission, in line with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) on ending hunger. “This outreach marks our first charity activity for 2026 as we step into the year with purpose—ensuring that no child goes hungry and no woman is forgotten,” she said. “Beyond food, we offer hope and remind beneficiaries that they are seen, valued, and supported.” She disclosed that the initiative is largely self-funded, with support from family members and friends, adding that despite financial constraints, the organisation has continued to make tangible impacts. Nwokpoku revealed that OMDCI has sponsored three university graduates from the host community, while several others are currently receiving educational support. She added that the organisation has also provided assistance to widows, the elderly, and indigent patients in settling medical bills. She noted that OMDCI operates across the 36 states of the federation and the Federal Capital Territory, with a long-term vision of building a society where no child goes to bed hungry. However, she identified limited funding as a major challenge to the NGO’s operations and appealed to well-meaning individuals and organisations for support to expand its reach. Also speaking, the organisation’s Legal Adviser, Mr Nathaniel Nwokpoku, expressed confidence that OMDCI would remain steadfast in its mission of ensuring food access for the less privileged. During the outreach, a health talk was delivered by a nurse, Mrs Ukamaka Nwafor, who encouraged beneficiaries to consume natural and healthy foods and maintain adequate water intake for overall well-being. Responding on behalf of the beneficiaries, Mrs Oluchukwu Nwuzor and Mr Chukwuma Anyigor expressed gratitude to the founder and the organisation, describing the support as a lifeline for struggling families. Highlights of the event included a medical outreach, distribution of food items, educational materials, wrappers for women, and other relief materials. https://voicenews.com.ng/omdci-pledges-expanded-support-for-vulnerable-children-women-elderly-in-2026/

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6FhW4aptMIg FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike insisted that Rivers State had already taken a firm political position and would not be pressured into changing course. “Rivers State has taken a decision. We are not taking a decision today—we took it already. Nobody forced us. We are the first state that did it, and we did not lose elections here,” he said. Wike warned against political abandonment, alleging that some actors encouraged confrontation but retreated when consequences followed. “That is how they pushed the young man into trouble. When the trouble came, they ran away. There is no coming back to that. Rivers State has taken a decision,” he said. He concluded by urging restraint and respect for Rivers State’s political autonomy.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HKg-ku20J-w The National Coordinator of the Obidient Movement Worldwide, Tanko Yunusa, has said the movement will remain within the African Democratic Congress (ADC) and abide by the outcome of the party’s presidential primary, even if former Vice President Atiku Abubakar emerges as the candidate. He said the movement, which supports a former Anambra State governor, Peter Obi, would compete fairly alongside other aspirants, including Atiku Abubakar, but expressed confidence that Obi would prevail due to the scale of support he brings. “As democrats, we will go in there and contest equitably well with every contestant based on democratic tenets. We believe that at the end of it all, Mr. Peter Obi will come out on top with the large teaming population that he is bringing into the ADC,” he said. Asked what the movement would do if former vice president Atiku Abubakar won the party primary, Yunusa said, “We will remain at the party and give the party the lease of life it demands democratically.”

In his speech he said, I travelled and met with one of the best authors, Professor Nicole Fox of California State University, who wrote on conflict, reconciliation, and the transformation of Rwanda. Her writings inspired in me a confidence that Nigeria can move from conflict and instability to consensus and rapid socio-economic transformation. To have a first-hand experience of how Rwanda was transformed, I travelled to Rwanda and had the opportunity of having a valuable time with President Paul Kagame to further learn from his experiences in the leadership of Rwanda. It has remained one of my most treasured learning experiences. Lifestylecom: |
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dsa3fpaM4qw Bauchi State governor, Bala Mohammed, has accused the Federal Government of allegedly using the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) to harass and intimidate opposition leaders across the country. Mohammed made the allegation while speaking in an emotional tone after receiving a Safety Ambassador Award from the Institute of Safety Professionals of Nigeria (ISPON). The governor claimed that the APC-led Federal Government was abusing state institutions, including the courts and the anti-graft agencies, to harass Nigerians who do not belong to the ruling party. “The APC-led Federal Government think they can use the courts, an institution of government, and the EFCC to pursue and prosecute Nigerians who are not within their party. If they don’t stop, we are going to declare war,” he said. Mohammed expressed shock over what he described as attempts to link him to terrorism, despite enjoying constitutional immunity as a sitting governor and serving as a leading figure in the opposition.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-XObUFE_CQE As the year 2025 ends today, we stand on the threshold of a new year, which we hope will mark the beginning of Nigeria’s long-awaited socio-economic transformation. For every nation and people, moments of profound national challenge demand clarity of purpose, courage, and decisive action. For Nigeria, that moment is now! Many have said that Nigeria is an independent country in name, yet today we must begin a new struggle: the struggle for true independence based on self-determination, human equality, and national reunification. We must reclaim our country from a small group of opportunists who have captured the corridors of power and return it to its rightful owners – the Nigerian people! What is most painful is that many of those who once benefited from democratic governance have now become accessories to a stolen mandate, shamelessly celebrating electoral injustice in public, and working hard to destroy democracy through coercion, manipulation and outright gangsterism particularly on opposition parties. Let me assure Nigerians that we will defend our fragile democracy and make it resilient. We will decisively defeat any attempt by the ruling party and its agents to manipulate or rig future elections. The will of the Nigerian people is sacrosanct, non-negotiable and those plotting to subvert it in 2027 should rethink their actions. Nigerians have endured enough and will resist any assault on their mandate through all lawful and legitimate means.

The United States has announced a partial suspension of the issuance of certain visas to Nigerian nationals, with effect from January 1, 2026, citing border control and national security concerns. In a statement released on Monday, the US Mission in Nigeria said the restrictions would take effect at 12:01 a.m. Eastern Standard Time under Presidential Proclamation 10998, titled “Restricting and Limiting the Entry of Foreign Nationals to Protect the Security of the United States.” Nigeria is among 19 countries affected by the measure. Others include Angola, Antigua and Barbuda, Benin, Burundi, Côte d’Ivoire, Cuba, Dominica, Gabon, The Gambia, Malawi, Mauritania, Senegal, Tanzania, Togo, Tonga, Venezuela and Zambia. Under the proclamation, the US will impose a partial suspension on the issuance of nonimmigrant B-1/B-2 visitor visas, as well as F, M and J visas for students and exchange visitors. The restrictions also extend to immigrant visas, with limited exceptions. However, several categories are exempted from the suspension. These include immigrant visas for ethnic and religious minorities facing persecution in Iran, dual nationals applying with passports from countries not affected by the suspension, Special Immigrant Visas (SIVs) for eligible US government employees, participants in certain major international sporting events, and lawful permanent residents (LPRs). The US Mission clarified that the suspension applies only to foreign nationals who are outside the United States on the effective date and who do not hold a valid US visa at that time. “Foreign nationals, even those outside the United States, who hold valid visas as of the effective date are not subject to Presidential Proclamation 10998. No visas issued before January 1, 2026, at 12:01 a.m. EST, have been or will be revoked pursuant to the Proclamation,” the statement said. Despite the new rules, Nigerian visa applicants may still submit applications and attend interviews. However, the US Mission warned that applicants “may be ineligible for visa issuance or admission to the United States” under the proclamation. https://voicenews.com.ng/us-to-partially-suspend-visa-issuance-to-nigerians-from-january-1-2026/
