Prince Goodwill Edward, Son-in-law of the former president of Nigeria, Goodluck Jonathan is being admitted into a hospital in Calabar after he was shot by unidentified gunmen in his apartment in Calabar on Friday.

Police made it known that this is the third or fourth attempt to take his life.

He,being the Special Adviser on Youth Affairs to Governor Ben Ayade was attacked at his Housing Estate home in Calabar.

The hospital he was admitted to is still unknown and so is his health condition.

Edward who hails from Abi local government area of Calabar married Jonathan's daughter in 2014.

Rumors circulating about the vanishing of Evans have been rendered false by the Nigerian police.

This followed a report which alleged that Evans' whereabouts were unknown and that he had vanished.

"Evans is safe and still in custody" said the chief superintendent of police (CPS).

The spokesman for the force headquarters,Jimoh Moshood made it known that Evans will be charged to court as soon as all ends are tied.

In progress of its curbing of riot by badoo cult members, Lagos State Police Command joined with other security agencies and local security volunteers have arrested 87 suspected Badoo members while declaring 20 other people wanted in connection with activities of the group in Ikorodu.

The 87 suspected Badoo members were arrested in an all-night operation on their hideouts in Owutu and Odongunyan in Ikorodu.

Those declared wanted for cult related killings include: Moshood (a.k.a Mosho); Alfa (a.k.a King of Boys); Papa; Fela; Alakoto and Chukwudi.

The police also declared 14 others wanted for kidnapping in Ikorodu. They include: Agbara; O/C; Femi (a.k.a FM); Pencil, Odidan; Jaru; Allen; Bush; Happiness; Fagbo; Junior; Nuru and Jamiu.

Operatives of the Inspector General of Police’ (IGP) Intelligence Response Team (IRT) have arrested five suspected kidnappers terrorising Port Harcourt, the Rivers State.

They are Gift Attah, 26, alias Okwulogu, Steven Ogbuka,25, Chimele Chinda, 26, alias Aeroplane, Daddy Stephen, 33, alias Marshal and Atayero Abiodun, 48.

Their arrest followed the abduction and eventual release of a woman, Mrs. Blessing Kime.

The suspects allegedly collected an undisclosed amount as ransom before releasing the woman.

Nigeria has dropped in the latest FIFA rankings released by the world football governing body on Thursday.

Previously ranked 38th in the world, the Super Eagles and are now occupying the 39th position in the world, and down to sixth in Africa from the fourth position they occupied the previous month.

This drop may not be unconnected to the 2-0 defeat suffered at the hands of South Africa last month in Africa Cup of Nations qualifier.

The South Africans on their part moved one step up from 65th to 64th spot in the world.

The Baale of Shangisha in Magodo, Lagos Mainland, Chief Mutiu Ogundare was on Wednesday abducted by three men along Center for Management Development (CMD) Road, Ikosi-Isheri Local Council Development Area (LCDA).

Ogundare was said to have received a telephone from supposed developers, who had indicated interest in a landed property within his domain.

The callers were said to have told the Baale where to meet them, prompting Ogundare to drive to the address with one of his brothers.

On arriving the location, the three men, it was gathered, appealed to the Baale and his brother to join them in their White Toyota Venza vehicle so that they could go check out the land.

Alhaji lssa Ore, the chairman of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW), Kwara branch, on Monday appealed to the Federal Government to revive the moribund tyre manufacturing companies in the country.

Ore told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Ilorin that this would curb the importers of tyres from importing fairly-used ones.

He also said that it would reduce the rate of motor accidents on the country’s highways.

First Lady Aisha Buhari left yesterday for London on a visit to President Muhammadu Buhari, who is on a medical vacation in the United Kingdom (UK).
The President left for the United Kingdom since May 7 on a follow up consultation with his doctors.
Mrs. Buhari last month visited her husband.

John Cardinal Onaiyekan, the Catholic Archbishop of Abuja, has called on Christians, to rise and Christianise Nigeria instead of complaining that Muslims want to Islamise the Nation.

The gunman, who shot six people at the Bronx-Lebanon Hospital Centre in New York, United States, on Friday, Dr. Henry Michael Bello, has been identified as a Nigerian.

Some Nigerians in New York, who knew Bello, confirmed this on Friday.

The New York Police Department (NYPD) has also identified him as a Nigerian-born doctor.

Bello, 45, shot dead a woman, on the 17th floor and injured at least six others on the 16th floor, before killing himself the NYPD Commissioner, James O’Neil, said.

Five of his victims were seriously injured and “fighting for their lives.”

The Vice Chancellor of the Federal University of Technology (FUT), Minna, Prof. Musibau Akanji, has described as baseless rumour, the proposed hike in tuition fees by 38 federal universities.

Akanji said there is no plan to hike the tuition fees of federal universities in the country.

He said that the university management condemned the allegation in all its totality, stating that the rumour was meant to cause panic and confusion.

In a statement signed by the university Deputy Director of Information, Mrs. Lydia Legbo and made available to The Nation, the vice chancellor reiterated that the management of FUT Minna does not collect tuition fees from its students, adding that what the students pay are minimal fees charged for other services.

The Federal Government said it has released the sum of N420.2 million to the Nigeria film industry popularly called Nollywood to improve and support aspiring practitioners.

A statement issued by the Deputy Director of Information, Federal Ministry of Finance, Mrs. Patricia Deworitshe, on Friday in Abuja, said the money, which is the second tranche payment will benefit 105 film distributors.

The Federal Government had earlier introduced the “Project Act Nollywood” with three primary components aimed at developing the movie making value chain.

A teenage boy has reportedly sold two of his father’s Sports Utility Vehicles valued at N7.5 million for a N350, 000 in Umuahia, Abia, in order to buy hard drugs.

The Commander of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) in the state, Mr. Akingbade Bamidele, who spoke at a workshop on substance abuse and illicit drug trafficking for senior secondary school students, organized by the National Committee on Narcotics and Substance Abuse, said the teenager carried out the act because of his involvement in drugs.

Bamidele, who spoke on the topic: “Illicit Drug and the Law,” said the teenager was later brought to NDLEA facility by his parents for counseling and rehabilitation.

Sunday Enia, a 20- year-old man, who allegedly broke into a shop and stole N100, 000, was on Friday brought before an Okitipupa Magistrates’ Court in Ondo State.

The accused, whose address was not provided, is facing a two-count charge of burglary and stealing.

He, however, pleaded innocence of the offences.

The Magistrate, Mr Banji Ayeomoni, granted the accused bail in the sum of N50, 000 with a surety in like sum.

He said the surety should provide evidence of a year tax payment to the government.

China on Friday strongly opposed a plan to sell weapons worth 1.4 billion dollars to Taiwan, and has asked the U.S. to cancel the deal.

A Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson,, said the sale of military equipment, which the U.S. State Department approved Thursday, threatens U.S.-China diplomatic relations.

“The U.S. should revoke the weapons deal plan in order to avoid damaging China-US relations and cooperation in important fields,” Lu said.

China has filed “solemn representations” with the U.S. on the matter and “stresses that no one can shake the Chinese government’s determination to safeguard national sovereignty and territorial integrity,” he added.

An Instagram user, Ann, today shared the profile of an Uber Driver who allegedly attempted to forcefully have sexual relations with her after she entered his cab yesterday night.
