Arewa Cottons of Kaduna state have been partnered by the Cross River government to cultivate a cotton farm project in the Yola local government of Kaduna state.

The Chief Press Secretary to the governor of Cross River state, Mr. Christian Ita made this known in an interview with NAN in Calabar.

He said the cotton project was purposely brought up to serve as cotton supplier to garment Factory in Calabar.

He said 30 tonnes of raw cottons is expected to be produced from the 2,000 hectares cotton farm.

Lieutenant General Tukur Buratai, the Chief of Army Staff made a statement on Saturday that the Nigerian Army would deploy 230 soldiers to Liberia.

He made this statement at the end of a four week intensive training on Peacekeeping and Leadership.

Edo State Police Command Thursday paraded 50 persons arrested for various crimes ranging from murder, kidnapping, armed robbery and illegal possession of firearms.

The suspects were among those arrested between April and July in Edo State.

State Commissioner of Police, Haliru Gwandu, who paraded the suspects, said it was information provided by members of the public that led to the breakthrough.

A Federal High Court in Lagos on Tuesday ordered the temporary forfeiture of Victoria East Park Hotel and Suites on Igbogbo-Mayegun Road, Ikorodu, Lagos, to the Federal Government, over an alleged N53.7 million fraud.

Justice Chuka Obiozor authorised the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) to seize the hotel for 21 days to enable it conclude its investigation of the alleged fraud.

The order followed an ex parte application filed by the EFCC, stating that the hotel was acquired with proceeds of fraud by one Ebiesuwa Fredrick.

Seven lawmakers on trial for ‘money laundering’

Eighteen senators are under investigation by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) for alleged N367.5billion fraud, it was learnt yesterday.

Seven are on trial. Some of the cases date back to 10 years.

A senator is being investigated for alleged stamp duty infractions.
One or two senators (outside the list) are under investigation for their alleged involvement in the N19billion and $86million London-Paris Club refund in which seven governors have been implicated.

The Nation stumbled on a fact-sheet which indicates that 11 of the senators under investigation are from the North. The others are from the South.

The National Assembly resolved on Monday that the 1999 Constitution needs some reforms that would enhance the development of the country.

The Deputy Senate President, Ike Ekweremadu, who addressed journalists at a retreat for the Senate and House of Representatives Committee on Review of the 1999 Constitution held in Lagos, said some of the contentious issues would be reviewed to meet the yearning of the people.

Ahmed Satomi,the Head of the state emergency management agency announced that an incident happened around 6:00 a.m in the London Ciki area of the state capital which was later confirmed to be a suicide bombing by a female bomber who detonated explosives at a mosque in Maiduguri,Borno state.

Two Nollywood Actors, Odunlade Adekola and Bolaji Amusan aka Mr. Latin were last night attacked by armed robbers along Illishan-Sagamu road while they were returning from a Glo music show in Ijebu-Ode.

It was reported that Mr. Latin told premiumtimes About 7:30 pm they ran into armed robbers who had already stationed themselves on the road.
He further explained that Odunlade was driving ahead of his car when he suddenly sighted the Road block by the robbers,he attempted to hastily leave the scene but the robbers shot several bullets at the tyres causing the car to stop,.

He said both of them alongside aides had to leave their cars and run into the bush and stayed there for almost two hours till the robbers left the scene.

Lai Mohammed the minister of Information and Culture says that the Federal government is planning to put a stop to entertainers shooting movies and music videos outside the Country.

He said, shooting videos outside the country doesn't help the economic situation of Nigeria, it only improves the economy of the country videos are being shot.

The minister made this known on his visit to the headquarters of the Copyright Society of Nigeria (COSON) yesterday.

On Wednesday,Security Forces["Police,Department of State Services(DSS), Rapid Response Squad(RRS),Lagos State Neighbourhood Watch Corps(LSNC),Oodua People's Congress(OPC) and a Local Vigilante group,Onyabo"] apprehended 133 badoo suspects in different parks in Ikorodu during raids at Ikorodu Main town,Bayekun,Majidun and Igbogbo.

The arrest made it the fourth since the security forces began to apprehend cultists,ritual killers and Kidnappers in Ikorodu.

We gathered that most of the apprehended suspects were raided in Majidun,an area close to being occupied by militants.

Justice Agbadu Fishim,the judge of the National Industrial Court (NIC) has been arraigned by the EFCC over collection from Seven Senior Advocates of Nigeria (SANs) a sum of N4.65 million.

He was arraigned on a 19-count charge of unlawful enrichment.

He was therefore granted bail on self recognizance.

It was reported that according to Rotimi Oyedepo,EFCC's prosecutor that Fishim collected a total sum of N4.65 million from seven SANs,a lagos-based lawyer and one other law firm between 2013 and 2015.

He claimed that the money was paid into Fishim's firstbank account,300819941

Oyedepo also emphasized that the Judge couldn't give an account of how the money got to his account.

Two employees of the telecommunications giant,MTN,three bankers and six other people have been apprehended by the Operatives of the Police Special Fraud Unit (PSFU) over defrauding subscribers of N150 million.

Apprehended Suspects are:

About N5m is being generated from waste recycling in the University of Lagos(UNILAG) said Mrs. Sade Nubi,the Senior Environmental Engineer of the University of Lagos.

Romelu Lukaku, Manchester United's 75million Euros signing has been apprehended in L.A for holding a rowdy pool party in a rented Mansion in Beverly Hills where he was holidaying with his fellow football star,Paul Pogba.

The Beverly Hills police made it known that he was visited Five times and warned about the noise last sunday.
