writerights:Did i Mention ASUP in my post?? FG is servicing 60% of State Univerisites budget. If states Universities are really that independent of FG sponsorship, there is no need being in ASUU.but that is not the case. If FG stop funding state Universities,School fees would be as high as 200k and above. That is,if the state really want to produce quality graduates. So you think States are funding their Universities Independently ![]() |
famzynet:You are really informed.Thank you. |
One of the demands of ASUU is to increase funds in State Universities. So that Profs in Fed and State would earn the same. If a state University decides not to join ASUU,it is to their own detriment. The main reason for creating State Univerisites was to enable indegines Attend Universities. The Funding of these Univerisites rest on the State Government. But, of recent,States Could not Fund Univerisites anymore.FG had to take over. So States Universities had to join those in Federal and Strike. Those that opted out and those that are not part of ASUU,I Heard they usually pay a particular Amount of Money(Like Fine) inorder to continue Lectures.i stand to be corrected though. |

The Joint Health Sector Unions, JOHESU, has threatened to resume the industrial action it suspended on 30th May 2018. The body said this was imperative following Federal Government’s failure to resolve lingering disputes. It said it would down tool if the issues in dispute are not resolved by Thursday, 31st January, 2019. JOHESU chairman, Comrade Biobelemoye Josiah issued the 15-day strike notice in a letter addressed to the Minister of Labour and Employment, Dr. Chris Ngige. He stated, “In view of the apparent indifference of government to permanently resolve these lingering issues, some of which have persisted for over five years now, the Joint Health Sector Unions by this letter notifies the Federal Government of her resolve to resume the suspended industrial action by Thursday, 31st January, 2019. “Having waited for this long it is surprising that the following matters have not been resolved,” he noted. Among issues at stake are upward adjustment of the CONHESS Salary structure; unjustified withholding of the salaries of JOHESU members for the months of April and May, 2018 and headship of hospital departments. Others are non promotion of members on CONHESS 14 – 15 as Directors in some Federal Health Institutions, and implementation of Consultancy Cadre to JOHESU members. https://www.google.com/amp/dailypost.ng/2019/01/17/johesu-announces-date-nationwide-strike/amp/?espv=1 |
firstolalekan:If you are from West or North and you apply for UNN,I Bet you,Admission is sure. |
These 3 Universities has Earned my Respect over the Years. |
notoriousbabe:Sharapp |
Any Ranking that concerns Nigerian Universities these Three Universities Always Lead. UI Covenant UNN FG should Focus More on UI and UNN. There is a Secret behind these 2 Universities Others Don't know. UI:First University in Nigeria UNN: First Indigenous University in Nigeria. Covenant University to Me is our Nigerian Harvard. If My children would study in Nigeria, Covenant would be the best place. Other universities are also trying. |

cosmatika:You know nothing in Pathology.Just keep shut.I always laugh when some of these MBBS will come online and start shouting "we did all the things MLS do in 5yrs within 12months". please and please when MLS is talking about MBBS they are talking about your consultants in pathology that did diploma in Laboratory Medicine not a General practitioner that knows only basic in laboratory interpretation. |
frank41:MBBS cannot chase MLS out of the Lab because they are not one and same profession. MCB and BCH know nothing about what is going on in the Medical Lab.You guys will start shouting in the US and Canada bla bla bla.Just know that those graduates there will undergo further training. MLS dont have any problem with MBBS but the Laboratory comprises of different professional like MLS and MBBS.MBBS should head and supervise junior residents under them and let MLS supervise junior scientists. MLS and MBBS can interprete results.Lets stop being childish. How can a MLSt generate a result he cannot interprete?. If it is a hospital settings, the MBBS can interprete. If it is private Lab,the MLS can interprete his result. There is no LAW in Nigeria empowering MBBS(MDCN) or even MLS(MLSCN) to interprete result.Any one of the two professional that sees the history of the patient can interprete the result. Let us understand our boundary and respect ourselves. |
I know this will lead to problem.we need peace to reign in our Health sector.Every Health professional should focus on working as a team.I know the Medical Doctors cum pathologists are the Head in our Laboratory in Nigeria. It is very important the Pathologist and the Medlab scientist work together as a team inorder to bring sanity to our Laboratory. Those of you shouting i did pathology in 4th year, please just shutup.Because what you know in pathology in 4th yr is only basic. When the medlabscientists are talking about Medical Doctors, they are talking about Specialists in Laboratory Medicine not a MBBS holder who is a GP that knows almost nothing going on in the Laboratory. |
I tire for UNN.Change of Degree form rose from 5k to 100k,which they later reduced to 50k reluctantly. Now School fees,Those in final years are complaining because what they paid in their penultimate year was lesser. The first years are complaining because non of them will pay anything less than an 100k.No SUG to fight for Us.infact, the stupid SUG Officers are all enjoying themselves in Sweden chai!!.If students should protest they will send everyone home and shutdown the school. Is UNN the only federal University in Nigeria that recession affected?...what of ABU,UNIBEN e.t.c.are they not federal Universities also but their fees are affordable for the common man.Anything Igbo dominated dey always fear me.ALL LIONS AND LIONESS,LET US ALL STOP THIS EVIL.OZUMBA MUST REDUCE THE FEE. |
BCH Vs MCB everytime.well no one is superior jare, just that BCH students believe their courses are hard because it is laced with chemistry(nightmare).MCB and BCH have almost the same application ranging from medical,food/industrial,environmental.e.t.c.In conclusion,BCH or MCB will not put food on your table if you don't graduate with a good grade and........(fill in the gap).Nigerian labour market na bitch. |
pinkylovely:Accreditation lasts for a couple of years(either full or provisoinal). You can study MLS there if motions are on ground to obtain full accreditation.Just know that a university with full accreditation may lose it during the next accreditation.so its just matter of the school and the department in particular to make sure they don't lose it so they would be able to graduate their students.follow this link to get more information.http://www.mlscn.gov.ng/?page_id=69 |
Universities need adequate funding to meet up with other international universities. As it stands,Nigeria do not have the money(so they said sha)to fund universities. The only way to meetup with adequate funding together with the little Gov't gives them is to increase students' school fees.School fees will continue to increase until government sits up. |
pinkylovely:It means their accreditation is temporary to offer MLS. |
asuustrike2009:And you think getting it right is to scrap POSTUME.We need quality starting from our primary schools up.Remember when it was said that a primary school student cannot write letter, later it was secondary school, now it is now a university student cannot write letter.Remember, that the paper you mentioned is still the legal evudence that you attended a formal school.Even in the so call developed world,You will still present that same paper before testing other qualities you might possess.LETS improve the quality of our education through funding, research among others.Scrapping POSTUME,WAEC or even JAMB will not add anything to our already fallen educational sector. |
asuustrike2009:You are wrong sir,The carrying capacity is still small. If you are a student in any of the public university you will agree with me that the facilities are under pressure.Tertiary institutions admit more than their carrying capacity just to make money.A course/class that the Carrying capacity is 80 will admit close to 250.Even if admission is shared evenly among public/private schools,it will still not be enough.JAMB said that the Capacity of ALL Tertiary instiutions in Nigeria is 500-600 thousand, and we have close to 1.7-2.0 million students sitting for JAMB each year. What does that tell you?close to 800-1million candidates would score above the required JAMB cutoff.especially with this 120 mark |
asuustrike2009:I still stand on what i said, the carrying capacity is too small compared to those seeking tertiary education. How many parents can afford private/state tertiary schools. Most federal schools are too competitive.Though i think your point about making JAMB and WAEC credible is still OK. |
asuustrike2009:Which old days, can you compare then and now?is like you don't know the quality of education is falling each year. |
It has'nt gotten to these na.We all are entitled to our various opinion. If someone else's opinion is'nt in line with yours, just make your point and stop calling names.Later all of una go claim say una be students SMH. |
asuustrike2009: |
asuustrike2009:where exactly are you referring to as "outside"?.How many of those "outside"students seek Tertiary/university education.Scrapping POSTUME will not stop anything.I agree that schools expliot students through charges.but only WAEC or UTME isn't enough requirement to gain admission into our tertiary institutions because those seeking admissions are far above the carrying capacity. |
skimmy005:Can you campare the so called"outside country"educational system/standard with that of Nigeria?your guess is as good as mine. The stress prospective students passed through to Reg/Sit for UTME is the fault of JAMB.That should'nt be an excuse to scrap POSTUME.let me ask you is WAEC trusted?. |
Confused Government. The senate should not scrap POSTUME rather they should regulate the price.Last set that did'nt sit for postume had the worst results. We can't trust only JAMB,WAEC neither can we trust Only POSTUME.Just regulate the price shikena. In my school,POSTUME price is 2000 naira. |
BossBallz:There will always be a scenario where a physiotherapist is better off than a dentist. But its quite rear especially in NIGERIA.Physiotherapy is still new in Nigeria.Just follow your heart. |
BossBallz:You don't see much prospects in Medicine really?.The best medical courses are Dentistry and Medicine."it is at par with medicine"holds a lot,you don't expect people to start breaking it down(google it,you are a student).physiotherapy is a nice course but when it comes to comparism, dentistry is way better. |
