The truth is,dentistry is good with lots of specializations(just google them).physiotherapy is also good in its own right.but we all know there will always be hierachy and the higher you are in the ladder, the higher the pay and vice versa and dentistry is way higher than physiotherapy home and abroad.physiotherapy is not that recognized in Nigeria but dentistry is. |

Meel: Is there discrimination of certificate in employment by employees between Private University and Fed/ State uni?
Would love to know every scientist view on this. Am a students of a State uni that wants to cross to a private uni to study MLS. I dont want a situation in the future that I will not be preferred or allowed to be placed on same level of opportunity with my colleague in govt owned institutions.
cc nelszx I believe there is no discrimination, they all recieve the same training. In my own case,i only got confused about the class of degrees in relation to employement, and i think i have been cleared about that too. |

Scholar212: 1. As long the certificate is still classified, a 3rd class can't have same chances as someone who graduated with 2.1. If you are an employer I bet you will choose a 2.1 graduate over 3rd class all other factors been equal. To me classification of BMLS should have been scrapped, medical degrees are unclassified as Nursing, pharm and others have adopted with 3.0 as minimum point out of 5.0 to graduate as Grades D and E will be eliminated and C become minimum grade for any course.
2. NO, you can't go for NYSC without doing internship, infact it is a prerequisite for camping, permanent license will still be requested in camp which you can't provide if you haven't done internship.
3. I think it is just licensing exam that is done don't know much about this. Others knowledgeable in this aspect will shed more light Thanks a lot i appreciate. |

davbravo: 1. It's unclassified in my school (UNILAG).... they use "Distinction"( those on 4.5 and above upon graduation) and "Pass" ( those on 2.5-4.49).....there's no 3rd class as those below 2.5 end up being withdrawn I'll find out more when school resumes.why i was concerned was because last 2 sessions, the best graduating student of MLS had 2.2 and i wonder what his other classmates grades might be. |

Go for Dentistry.if i have another opportunity now,i would go for dentistry instead of MLS.when you want to choose, look at their job description and ask yourself the one that will go with your Personality.know the one that has more opportunities within and OUTSIDE(we don't know what awaits us tomorrow). In conclusion just follow your heart. |

Goodafternoon everyone, please i have some few questions and i need answers to. 1.if someone graduates with a 3rd class, will the person still have equal chances with those with 2.1 and above? 2.can someone bypass internship to go for NYSC if the former is not forthcoming? 3.if someone intends practicing outside preferably the US,will the person go back to school or will the person only be required to sit for their liscencing exams? Thanks. |

fzybah: well my brother.... don't let d comments of people reshape ur thinking . I can categorically say that those condemning these courses don't have deep understanding about them ..... MLS has never taken the places of these courses except in d hospital sector .... how many MLS graduates do u see in pharmaceutical company ? but u will find microbiologists and biochemists there. how many MLS do u find in breweries ? but the part of the main workers in the breweries are Biochemists , microbiologist who work in the quantity control unit ..... How many MLS or Doctors do u find in oil and gas but u can still find biochemist ..... Can A Doctor work in Flour mills, Chemical Industries, food making industries etc... don't only focus on Hospital .. and remember dt if Doctors and MLScientists don't work in government owned hospital , they are paid peanuts... Guy MLS is not dragging all those places you mentioned with you guys na.BCH and MCB are the ones trying to reap where they did not sow.If you are in BCH or MCB and you are planning on specializing in the medical aspect, you will be frustrated,Except lecturing.know what you want and strive to get it not some shortcut. because from what i have seen, most BCH and MCB graduates like specializing in the medical aspect and bet me,you will be frustrated.focus on other aspects your course can offer and you will be glad you did. |
