Fellow Nigerians guess what we came across a photo that should remind the ignorant and ungrateful South Africans who feel the need to attack those who helped them in ways that can never be repaid. 1 Share

Science/Technology / Windows 8.1 Vs Andriod Kitkat Which One Is Better by lmeed(m): 11:56am On Apr 19, 2015 |
With Windows Phone 8.1 Microsoft’s OS finally became as full featured as its rivals, which along with its stylish, unique design means it’s a very tempting alternative to iOS or Android. But with Android 4.4.4 KitKat Google has improved on its OS in numerous ways too and while it’s since gone even further with Android 5.0, it’s KitKat which is still running on most Android phones. Both operating systems have been thoughtfully designed and undergone years of polish to reach the point they’re at now, but there are numerous differences between them, so if you’re wondering what’s different and where each excels, we’ve got the answers. The Look Windows Phone 8.1 is arguably the most stylish mobile operating system around and it certainly stands out, with its vertically scrolling interface full of Live Tiles, each of which is essentially a miniature widget. It’s colourful and has far less empty space than Android, which could risk leaving it looking cluttered but as the tiles all line up neatly and are generally colour coordinated it never does. Many Windows Phones apps and the stock ones in particular are also designed to fit with the look of each other and of the interface as a whole. Menus tend to consist of white lettering on black backgrounds and everything has a clean, minimalist look. Android on the other hand has a more conventional interface. Or at least it’s more like other mobile OS’s, notably iOS. There are rows of tiles along the home screen with quite a lot of space between them, there’s also a bar at the bottom which displays the same tiles no matter which screen you’re on and it scrolls horizontally rather than vertically. The apps in Android are static icons but there’s also proper widget support, which means that you can have for example a large clock or calendar on your screen, or perhaps a news feed. It makes it a lot more customisable and in fact almost anything on Android can be changed or altered, from the keyboard to the entire look and operation of the interface. So you can make it look and work more or less however you want if you put the work in, but stock Android 4.4.4 KitKat is less stylish and distinctive than Windows Phone 8.1. Android apps are more varied in their appearance than on Windows Phone, especially when you consider that different manufacturers put their own overlay and apps on the phones, but the stock apps tend to have a fairly unified look. They’re a little more cluttered than their Windows Phone counterparts, but still have a clean, simple design, so they’re rarely confusing to use. The Apps There’s no getting around it, Windows Phone 8.1 has an app problem. The number of available apps has been steadily growing and includes many popular ones like Facebook and Instagram, but there are still well under 400,000 available apps compared to over 1,300,000 Android apps So if you’re happy to stick just to big names then Windows Phone will for the most part serve you well, but if you want a wide selection of apps then Android still has an advantage. Although as you'd expect Windows Phone has native support for Microsoft Office products with greater features which is something business users should consider. Ke |

Technology Market / Keep Your Android’s Battery Healthy With These Tips by lmeed(m): 9:31am On Apr 18, 2015 |
How can you make your smartphone or tablet battery last longer? Forget apps, we’re talking about good practice here: how you treat your phone, when and how often to charge it, and how these things differ across battery types. With more and more devices being produced with unibody cases, there is a greater requirement to make batteries last longer. After all, there’s no longer an option to replace the battery! You Can Use Apps: But They Need Your Help We’ve shown you many software- based ways of preserving battery life , and which apps and services you need to turn off. The thing is, you shouldn’t leave it all to the apps. How you treat your phone throughout the day and when charging or discharging will help to prolong battery life both in the short-term and the long-term. Different batteries have different rules, however. Currently there are three types of battery in use: Lithium-Ion, Lithium-Polymer and Nickel-Cadmium. For your smartphone, you probably have a Li-ion battery, but you can check the battery type in your device by removing the back cover — or if your device is unibody, check the documentation or Wikipedia. Check the appropriate section below for how to keep your Android device battery healthy.

Politics / Traders Vent Their Anger On Governor Orji Over Election by lmeed(m): 12:31pm On Apr 17, 2015 |
In a situation that is now a regular occurrence, Governor Theodore Orji was again booed and pelted with sachet water on Tuesday at Onu-Imo market at the boundary between Abia and Imo states. The governor is widely disregarded by traders in Abia State because of his indifference to their plight in Aba, the commercial nerve centre of the state. He was on his way to Owerri Airport en route to Abuja when traders, who heard the siren of his motorcade, trooped out to the road, armed with bags of sachet water, jeered and booed him, shouting, “Onye-oshi vote, Onye-oshi vote,” meaning one that steals votes. READ ALSO: APGA Chisftain Wants Election Cancelled In Abia According to The Sun, Orji was suspected to be travelling to Abuja to pressurise the electoral body, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to have the state’s governorship election, already declared inconclusive, declared in his favour. Orji and his party, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), allegedly hijacked the electoral process when the governorship candidate of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) was comfortably coasting to to victory. Some of the traders, including Chinedu Nwankwo, James Orakwue and Kingsley Maduagwu, said it was worrisome that Governor Orji and his son, Chinedu, could be wasting billions of public funds on the INEC to win their elections as legislators and impose their surrogate on the people, when workers and pensioners were owed several months of salaries and pensions. They said: “The billions of naira being lavished by this heartless family is the money meant for the development of Aba and Abia, which Orji abandoned, as well as the payment of salaries of workers and pensioners. God will one day bring Orji to judgment, in or out of office. He must answer for his inhumanity to the people of Abia, non-indigenes, traders, teachers, doctors and medical personnel, whose destinies he has toiled with for eight years of his administration,” he concluded. |
