Festus Kayamo wrote yesterday: Christians and Islamization of Nigeria Most university graduates are nothing but huge disgrace to the academics and the certificate they carry. I now understand why a former education minister said some Nigerians graduates are unemployable. I can't explain the kind of gullibility some people show in issues of religion and ethnicity. A graduate will see a message from wailers saying a serving minister said President Buhari wants to Islamize Nigeria and without even referring to what the constitution says about religion they will start sharing and defending. Is religion no longer a constitutional matter? Can Buhari wake up one day and pronounce Nigeria an Islamic nation without the National Assembly amending the relevant laws? Would anybody with such agenda get 2/3 of the 36 houses of assembly to support such amendment? Some people suck! Buhari as a Military Head of State with a Muslim Vice when he ruled by decree didn't Islamize Nigeria, it's now that such decision must get the nod of our legislators at both state and federal levels that some Nigerians including the so called educated people are believing. Like I've always said, the bane to Nigeria's development in our generation may not be corruption but gullibility. It's a time bomb waiting to explode. We Christians are always jittering. Always feeling inferior to people of other faiths. When will Muslim accuse us of Christianizing Nigeria? When? In the current democratic dispensation, out of 18 years, we have had Christian Presidents for 14 years. Obasanjo did 8 years while Jonathan 6 years. When did Muslim accused anybody of wanting to Christianize Nigeria? Even in the Christiandom, we hate ourselves so much that Pastors now spend more time discrediting fellow pastors and their churches in pulpit than preaching the gospel. Discrimination everywhere! I asked somebody yesterday that why it's common for a Christian to leave a church within to another church very far away in the name of "My Church". Is it the church and pastors we worship or God? Is it not the same God we claim to worship? Biblically, nobody own the church. The church is owned by God. Why have we as Christians personalized ownership of churches? You no hear of the Church of God but 'My, our Church'. Are you God? Why are you usurping God's ownership Powers? Our God is a jealous God that doesn't want his glory to be shared with any man. I find it difficult to explain why a man will leave over 20 churches behind to another one distance away just because it's not his church. This to me is hypocrisy! I'm also a victim of this unexplainable doctrine and hypocrisy but I'm beginning to ask myself critical questions that will make me overcome it soon. I've not seen Muslim say this is not my mosque, I can't go there except on Fridays when they all go to Central Mosques for prayers. As Christians, we must stop exercising morbid fear over nothing. We must stop the hypocrisy and discrimination even amongst ourselves. Let love and tolerance guide us as we pursue our heavenly race with renewed vigor and determination. |

Forwarded: This is educative- posted as received : REMINDER: Awolowo advocated for secession to be included in our constitution, backed by the North led by The Sardauna. Azikiwe was against it, backed by the colonialist British. Now history and posterity has proven Awo right. Excerpt: Zik Interview with New Nigeria in 1975 ........... Again, however, when the 1954 constitution conference started, my good friend, Chief Obafemi Awolowo tabled a motion to the effect that in the new constitution, provision should be made that any state which feels like seceding should do so. I was opposed to it and said ‘no’ and said that once we have a federation, we are indivisible and perpetual. That was when we began to use that expression - ‘The Indivisibility and perpetuity of the federation’ - and that to secede would amount to treason. And so, a debate ensued. The Secretary of State then was Oliver Littleton, later Lord Chandos and he was very much interested and that was his first time in seeing that people of African descent were people actually debating at a high level. So a full day was given to Chief Awolowo to make his points. He spoke brilliantly as a lawyer. He made his points why secession should be incorporated in the constitution. He cited the case of the Soviet Union which is a federation, and that secession is written there so that any state in the Soviet Union can secede at will. He also cited the case of Western Australia and eventually he finished his case and was applauded. We adjourned. The next day, I had to reply. I availed myself of the opportunity to, well, demolish the arguments of my friend and I cited the case of United States which based its constitution on that of the Swiss Confederation. That is Switzerland. I pointed out a case, I think, that of Texas versus White, where Mr. Salmon Chase, the Chief Justice laid down the principle - he was really an arbiter - that the union was intended to be perpetual and indivisible and that any attempt to divide the union by secession was treasonable. The North (NPC) supported Action Group. The question was then: Should we have secession? The Colonial Office came to our rescue. You know, the usual principle of Britain - ‘divide and rule’ (laughs) but this time, it was in our favour. So, the colonial office backed us. Lord Chandos said that on the face of the arguments before him it would be suicidal to incorporate secession in our constitution and that is why we have section 86 in our constitution that if any region or state should secede, then it will be an act of treason and that was what led to this war, because Col. Ojukwu seceded and so violated the constitution. Posted by: Edwin Ogunbo |

Photos have shown the shocking moment two British tourists were frogmarched n*ked along a Thai beach and arrested – after being accused of having s*x in the sea. According to The Sun UK, the couple were spotted together in chest-high water in front of beachgoers on Sunday morning at 2.30am in Pattaya, Thailand. Shocked onlookers sitting just yards reported to police the pair were having s*x and officers arrived and forced the pair to get out of the water. Footage shows the drunk couple stumbling along the sand and falling back into the ocean as two unimpressed officers with torches look on. The unclad man – a 26-year-old from London – and the unnamed woman in just a bra were eventually made to get dressed and pack away their beach hammock. The woman can be heard protesting in English: “We’re not going to the police station, we’re going this way, yeah.” But officers walked them the 300 yards to Pattaya City Police Station where they were charged with public indecency and each fined 1000 Thai baht, around £20. Lt. Col. Sombat Kaewmuang, Deputy Inspector of Investigations, said: “Police received a report at 2.30am on July 23 that one male and one female tourist were unclad together on Pattaya beach. Reports were they were having s*x. “Both Thai and foreign tourists had gathered around them. Police checked and both the man and woman were intoxicated. “They walked unclad out of the sea and staff made them wear clothes. “Reports were that they were having s*x but they both denied this and it is not possible to prove it. “They were both unclad in the sea playing together and they guilty of breaking Thailand’s law on indecent conduct in public, obscenity and drunken behaviour. ‘’They were both British. They were detained and interrogated and both were fined. They have apologised.”

Do you know that the major actors responsible for the victory of the ill fated civil war were Yorubas (Ben Adekunle, Obasanjo, Gen Adebayo, Awolowo etc) Do you know that it was ONLY the yorubas that stood by Ojukwu in his early days in exile despite being a treasonable felony to do so. Do you know that no Igbo leader, not even one, has the gut to visit Ojukwu in exile within the first seven years. Only Yoruba 'cowards' like Soyinka, Tai Solarin & co were braved enough to visit and spend time with him in Abidjan. Do you know that of all his contemporaries it was only the Zik of Africa that ran abroad during the political turbulence of late 60s. Do you know that if Abiola was to be Igbo in the case of June 12, they won't have gotten Obasanjo. Do you know that despite the heroic welcome giving to Ikemba upon his return from exile, the same people rejected him from becoming a senator less than a year after? Yorubas are not cowards. We are compasionate deep thinkers who don't do things precipitously and we see beyond tommorow. We don't fight wars we can win with brains with hands. We are warrior who use great ideas, intellection and strategies to fight war. We can decide to lose a battle just to win a war. We are the most sophisticated microcosm of the entity called Nigeria. We are the glue that bind Nigeria together. We are Yorubas, omo to ni ran. The desendant of Oduduwa. Tayo Olajubu. |

IN ORDER TO IMPROVE ON ELECTRICITY TRANSMISSION AND DISTRIBUTION 218 STRANDED CONTAINERS FOR THE PAST 8 YEARS WERE BEING CLEARED AT THE PORT IN LAGOS. The Minister of Power, Works and Housing, Mr. Babatunde Fashola and the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) wednesday took delivery of 218 stranded containers of electricity equipment in Apapa, Lagos, which were abandoned at the port for over eight years. Receiving the consignment at the Duncan Terminal in Apapa, Fashola said the equipment would boost power supply in the country. Fashola added that 77 containers were cleared from Duncan terminal, while 114 containers would be cleared in other terminals. According to him, the development is part of the federal government effort in ensuring that all stranded electricity equipment at the port get accelerated clearance and waiver to cushion stable power in the country. He said that the government would ensure that the consignments were moved immediately to the site for commencement of pending works. According to him, President Muhammadu Buhari has approved the disbursement of fund for the clearing of stranded containers of power equipment and materials at various terminals so as to improve power delivery to every Nigerian. “I want to appreciate the effort of the Vice President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Prof Yemi Osinbajo for his support in the actualisation of the clearing these stranded containers. A lot of hard work has been put into negotiation for the release of these power materials due to the accrued demurrage as a result of the suspension of the issuance of import duty exemption certificate, for some period in 2014,’’ he said. The minister who was represented by Chief Executive Officer of TCN, Mr. Atiku Abubakar added that the shipping companies and the terminal operators are expected to support this administration’s effort to move other containers at their various terminals to project sites. Also speaking, the Chairman, House of Representatives Committee on Power Hon. Daniel Asuquo said that House was happy to be part of the success story of the release of the stranded electricity materials at the port. Asuquo said that within a year, the present administration was able to address these equipment challenges.
