Testimonies are very important; as
information, as a reference point, and for the
good interest of posterity…so I’d like to share
one with you guys…
I’ll try to be brief too. I live in ajah, in the
ilaje area, in a decent, closed off street. Well
developed though, but the plots on both sides
of my building are undeveloped yet, with thick
vegetation. Now, I share some interests in
snakes with the good Dr Mark, and I’m quite
comfortable with them, I sometimes capture
them (mostly the non poisonous types), spend
time playing with them and eventually release
them back into the habitat. I have neighbors
who arent comfortable with this, but I’ve
explained to them and shared articles as well
on the snake types and their being non
poisonous as well.
about 2 weeks ago, a snake came into the
house and Paul, my colleague, captured it, but
this time, it was a cobra, small, but
nonetheless, venomous. we captured it, like
always, and kept it in a jar inside my building.
my neighbors begged that we kill it but I
would have none of that, I told them that I
would rather give it to my good Doctorwho
would either release it into the wild someplace
else or send it to the right bodies for
conservation or study, but my neighbors
weren’t happy at all. I called Dr. Mark and
told him about it and he promised to come in
the following day, which was Friday to pick up
the snake. As bad luck would have it, the
snake escaped from the jar, within the house
and it was a neighbor who noticed it first. I
told him not to worry and immediately began a
snake hunt. I called the security guard and
together we scanned the house from top to
bottom, searching every dark corner and every
possible hiding place but couldn’t find it. it
had gone, where to, we couldn’t figure. this
made my neighbors very uncomfortable and
they complained bitterly about it. To prepare
for the worst, I called Dr Mark and told him
about the escape, also asked him and my
friend Slimbone, for antivenom, just to be
prepared for any eventuality, at the same
time, made plans to fumigate the following
day, to allay all our fears and purge the house
of every cretin inside.

Following day, we couldn’t do the fumigation
because there were dogs in the house, some
hand raised corso pups, my dog and good
friend, Buffy, a pekingese, and some bully
pitts that we kept downstairs as well, we had
to plan moving them away for a few days, this
happened successfully on Sunday morning. by
8am they had all vacated the house and were
told to return on Monday evening. I had left
the island on Saturday morning with Buffy
and spent the weekend on the mainland. I
returned on Monday morning, Buffy and I, but
we remained in the car and didnt go into the
compound until around 9am. I needed to
change and prepare for work. I opened the
gate and saw the Bully pitts already in the
compound playing, so I let buffy stay
downstairs with them while I dashed in and up
to prepare. A few moments later, a heavy
storm started and it was serious, so I opened
the door downstairs and all the windows so the
dogs could have some.shelter from the rain.
By the time I finished preparing and came
out, I noticed Buffy already removing
spittoon from his mouth, although he was
wagging and still playful, I knew immediately
that he was reacting to the fumigation. The
other dog was completely unperturbed but
then again, he wasnt brachycephalic like
Buffy. In no time, i took him straight to Dr
Mark’s clinic where he was quickly seen to by
the good Dr himself. Buffy was okay, stable
and even playing with other dogs there as well,
plus, the spitting had stopped completely as
well so all was good. I left him at the clinic for
continued observation while I returned to work,
with word that I’d return to collect him in the
afternoon. As the day went by, I spoke with
the Dr back and forth, checking in and was
told he was doing just fine. at about 2:30pm,
while heading back to the clinic to pick him up,
Dr Mark phoned me (he never does unless
theres a problem. lol) and I knew immediately
there was something wrong.
He began by asking me if I was sure that it
was only the after effects of the fumigation
that Buffy was suffering from or if there was
something else, and I answered that Buffy was
perfectly okay, up until he came into the
house with me during the storm. I asked what
the problem was and he said Buffy just
collapsed. One minute he was playing, and the
next, he was flat on the ground with his
eyeballs lolling about and tongue hanging out,
getting inflamed. thankfully, I was already on
ado road, close to the clinic, so I intensified
my speed to get there earlier. I arrived in less
than 4 mins and to my consternation, Buffy
was in a delirious state, stretching himself to
full length, and jerking back and forth, eyes
completely wide and unfocused, tongue was so
enlarged the mouth couldn’t hold it.. my
Buffy was dying, fighting for his life and
losing it right before my eyes, my heart broke
into a million pieces there and then and I k.ew
that I wouldn’t be the same if the worst
happened. I said to the Dr, in a very quiet but
firm voice, Dr. please dont let this dog die..
(he would later tell me that he felt the plea
come from my spirit and that drove him to do
even extra to save Buffy’s life) At the time,
they were trying to pass a line through his
veins and drip him but Buffy was hysterical,
hyperventilating. I asked the Dr what was
happening and he explained that the dog’s
temperature had gone beyond 44degrees on
the thermometer, and was in shock, at the
same time dehydrated. I couldn’t watch what
was happening so I left the room, started
praying fervently and begging God for my
dog’s life, I was confused, afraid, blaming
myself for letting this happen, especially with
all my experience, but I didnt give up. if ever
there was a time for recompense, this was it.
I’ve been in several surgeries and emergencies
with dogs professionally and knew I had to help
somehow, so I went back in, fully fortified in
my spirit and determined to fight, as God
directed. I called my friend, who is a full time
mum to buffy in everyway, because I couldn’t
handle it alone and also needed someone that
Buffy loved, to be closeby for moral support.
Dr Mark, very calm in all the craze, quickly
brought in a bucket of water, filled it with ice
then soaked Buffy in it. this was quick
thinking, done to crash the high temperature
of the dog so he can begin to manage the loss
of strength and rehydrate the dog. We held
him in the bucket for about 25mins, by this
time, he had stopped jerking but was very
weak, head and eyeballs were lolling about,
tongue still engorged and protruding, we
carried him to the examination table and
proceeded to hydrate him. he was dripped in a
forearm, and at the same time, receiving
another drip orally, this to reboost his
strength. after a while, Dr had to move the
drip to the second arm, afterwards, moved it
to one hind leg, just ensuring that the dog
had enough fluid in its system, through the
veins and orally as well, As he continued,
around 25 minutes into dripping him, Buffy
started to come to, his eyes began to focus
again and his tongue began to shrink as well,
life was returning to my dog, my dearest
darling Buffy..I couldn’t hide my relief, yes,
this was a fight, a real battle for life. I
watched my dog almost die and also watched
him being saved through calm and calculating
hands, all under God’s direction.. long story
short, we left the clinic that evening with
Buffy, understandably stable but very weak
still, and took him home. Since then, he has
been.nursed back to good health, mostly by my
friend Jenny, his mum, and myself. Although
we have visited the hospital once after the
crazy day, Buffy’s health has improved on a
daily and we are so happy that he is almost
back to his full self once again.
Music Business / Re: Well Done, Peruzzi by Obinna Agwu by logadims: 5:53pm On Jun 13, 2019
TheAngrymob:
“Never let a good crisis go to waste.” - Anonymous

If there is one thing every human being knows or gets to find out soon enough, it’s the truth in the statement, “nobody is perfect.” Although no boss will take that from you as an excuse for failing in your duties, it doesn’t make the statement less true. Mistakes are us; the best of us learn from them and do better, others don’t and repeat them. But even those who learn from the mistakes of yesterday are bound to make new ones today, and on and on it goes. Yet, nothing of importance was ever made without mistakes and crisis are often a precursor to major successes.

But when you are a celebrity, your mistakes tend to be more public than it would be for us normal folk, and a small matter can quickly snowball into a major crisis. This was the case earlier in the week when news broke of the rising star, Peruzzi’s assault on Pamilerin for basically saying that Teni was the more talented artiste of the two in a tweet. The matter became a trending topic on social media and soon became a full-on crisis, which was subsequently defused when Peruzzi issued an unreserved apology which was accepted by Pamilerin. A good judgement call on Peruzzi’s part.

Crises, though problematic, always carry a seed of opportunity in them, but often celebrities freak out when in crisis and fail to take advantage of the inherent opportunity they present. For instance, in March 2018, at a free show sponsored by the Enugu state government for Flavour, it was alleged that countless women were raped and/or molested at the show venue. Flavour's response was interesting, to put it mildly. He simply went mute, hoping that everything will blow over. Eventually, everything seemed to blow over, but was it forgotten? No. In another related event, some months prior to the Flavour show, on the 19Th of November 2017, at the Nnamdi Azikiwe stadium in Awka, it was also alleged that many female fans were sexually harassed and raped at PhynoFest. What was Phyno's response? Anger, disbelief, denial and little empathy as seen in this tweet: “The event wouldn’t hold if we can’t guarantee d safety of d fans that came tru. And this is coming up a month after d event.. how come?” Can you believe that?

Bear in mind that the people who were alleged to have been molested or raped at the two events highlighted were fans of Flavour and Phyno who traveled from their homes to see their beloved superstars, only to be sexually assaulted and then treated so shabbily by the very stars they so adored. In a way, flavour’s silence was, at least, a tacit endorsement of the rape culture which remains a massive stain on our society. For musicians who sing about women a lot, Flavour and Phyno missed a great opportunity to stand for the women who love their music, and women in general, when it mattered. They could have made videos or released statements tendering their unreserved apology and shown empathy to the victims; they could have taken responsibility for ensuring that at least some of the perpetrators were brought to book and made efforts to visit one or two of the victims. But they didn’t.

Contrast their responses with Ariana Grande's response to the suicide bomb attack at her May 2017 Manchester concert; her first tweet: “Broken. From the bottom of my heart I am so so sorry. I have no words,” then she went back with a bunch of her Superstar friends for a benefit concert that raised $13 million for the victims; she also visited some of the injured in the hospital and the mother of one of the deceased. And she has consistently put out a word to remember the victims on May 22nd of every year since the incident. How about that? Big difference!

As we established earlier, crises are inevitable, but I think these five points will help artistes respond better, even without any PR support.
1. Respond quickly, don’t play dead
2. Take responsibility, apologize
3. Tell the truth, don’t prevaricate
4. Don’t be defensive, Look for the seed of opportunity in the storm
5. Improve the quality of your team – (most important)

In the two cases highlighted above, both artistes missed an opportunity to become strong advocates for the banishment of rape culture from our society. Rape culture might affect women directly, but the whole society bears the brunt of the malaise. The above events would have been an opportunity for the artistes involved to learn more about rape culture in our society and lend their voices and star power to educating the youth and hopefully cause a change in behaviour. This, by the way, would have made them bigger stars than they are today. But PR said no.

So, although Peruzzi made a huge mistake by hitting Pamilerin in the first place, the fact that he apologized makes a world of difference. And unlike Flavour and Phyno, wherever this matter is mentioned in the future (and it will come up), it will always be said that Peruzzi apologized (forget about Davido's problematic apology for a minute). Could the apology have come sooner and be better worded? Certainly. But apologies are better late than never.
Well done, Peruzzi.

Lmao I find this thread very funny. You think importing is the solution to the two problems you listed above? Surely!! You kid.

You think these scammers are in Nigeria alone? Many months back we witnessed the case of a Chinese guy that sold a castrated pocket bully to another country for $50k.
You actually even stand to loose more when you get scammed from importing. There are bad eggs everywhere.

The simple solution to the aforementioned problems is simply to buy from reputable breeders, or breeders that belong to a breed club. Here in Nigeria, you have the luxury of even going to see the dogs in their abode.
Not so much for importing, where all you’re trusting is pictures and words of mouth.

This thread makes me laugh. Just say you need traffic for your website and we’ll understand.
***smiles*** Oh Nairaland!! A place where stupid kids claim to be wise. Mr. experienced... you can take your stupidity to another thread. if you're what you claim to be, why don't you write on same topic? ??

Very salient points raised. We have been privileged to import some successfully and must add we also dodged some bullets. GSDs specifically.

Always deal with a known and trusted breeder they have a reputation to protect cos that reputation can easily be destroyed. If you can, let someone who has done it before guide you through. If you think "oyinbo" man can not collect your money and throw you junk. Think again.

Here's our last import from Serbia just over a month ago.
you raised a very valid point bro!

HOW TO IMPORT DOG INTO NIGERIA

This has been one very big challenge or will I say, problem for lots of dog lovers in Nigeria. A lot of Nigerians have in one time or the other
fallen into the hands of fraudsters who claim to
be importers.

A regular occurrence includes the following:
You paid a guy you do not know- just
because you saw him online claiming to be
a breeder or importer, you paid him some
amount of money.

After payment, you’ve been debited, all
of a sudden the guy is no longer picking
up your calls, is busying your call, switched
off or in most cases has even blocked you.
This can cause a lot to the health of
someone.

The second regular occurrence is:
You met a well known guy. He showed you
pictures of his past and present deals/
dealings. You paid him. Few weeks or days
later, the dog arrives only for you to get
what the both of you never agreed on. You
got something entirely different. This can
be very disheartening you know.

I have heard and seen lots of cases of
fraudulent transactions between genuine dog
lovers and supposed breeders(fraudsters).
I always get angry whenever I come across such.
One thing I find funny is the fact that, these
so-called breeders (thieves) end up getting
more and more victims in the name of clients.
To solve this very big problem in Nigeria. I have
decided to liberate Nigerians especially those
ready to be liberated by Putting them in a
Step-by-step approach on
“How to import dogs into
Nigeria.”

Importing a dog into Nigeria is no silver bullet
anymore.

Truth be told, anyone can buy his or her dogs on
his own all you need are little consultations here
and there and everything will fall in place.
<strong Buying the right dog depends solely on
your taste, needs and pocket- that is the main
issue.</strong
Also Note This : Those breeders abroad are very
much eager to send in rubbish into Africa. Only
very few will give you unbiased and sincere
review of thier dogs. You must be careful.
So, you must know what you want and ask
questions.- This is very essential.

Finally, Let me clarify, everybody must not
bring in dogs on thier own for reasons of
