Hi Everybody! I just got AL from Paderborn. I want to book my appointment and I don't know if I should book as Category A or B.

The website says if you're "holding a bachelor's degree with a grade of 1. Class - 2. Lower Class and being accepted for a master's degree (also a DSH course-related admission to the master's program) or PhD study in Germany," and I had a First Class.

The appointment booking website also has this option "Registration for a long term visa (more than 90 days) for students of the category A (TestAS certificate standard score of 100 - 130 / very good B-1 certificate / good B-2 certificate / bachelor's degree 1. Class - 2. Lower Class / scholarship / research hosting agreement)"

Congratulations on your admission. Unless you have a German scholarship, you’re for category B.

"Genuine" SL still works. From my little understanding, when u submit any SL gotten from German state at the embassy here in naija, it will be forwarded back to ur choice destination in Germany (the state where ur school is located) just like every other document u submitted. So upon proper screening, if the state u are heading to is not satisfied with ur sponsors income and all that, they can reject ur SL, and you know what that means.

Again the delay in screening SL can be frustrating atimes. I know a friend who attended winter 2018 interview by September last year and submitted his SL same day. his sponsor got the SL for him from another state other than Hamburg where his school is located. His SL was screened for 90days (that's how long it takes them to screen SL) and he got his visa January this year. If not that he was able to do his enrollment here in naija before then, maybe after all that long period of screening, he may have suffered rejecting at the end. So what am I saying, it looks like different states use different yardstick to assess or issue SL to sponsors.
These and many more reasons make most people go for BA option more.
Bet then some still get this visa without any of them o.. (very uncommon though). If u know the meaning of GRACE! Then u will understand all I just explained

Wow. It takes 90 days for SL to be screened generally? Or is the timing peculiar to the city your friend applied to? Because, mehnn 90 days is not beans o.

For what course? And when was the application deadline of the said course or is it a Rolling admission?
Sorry I’m just curious cos I applied since February and application deadline was march and no news from them yet!

Lol. Haba. Enter dustbin ke. I think as long as you got a notification for a successful application, you shouldn’t worry about the bin.
Anyway, my course is English and American Studies. I applied since January and yes, the deadline was 15th of March. Though the common deadline for most departments is ending of May. Hopefully, you’ll get an answer soonest.
