25 year old Yakura Idi, pictured above, from Gwange Ward, Damaturu, Yobe state has been arrested for allegedly killing her eight-month old son, Mohammed Idi. According to a statement by the Yobe state police commissioner, Zannah Ibrahim, Yakura was arrested after she used a knife to kill her son and then buried his corpse in a shallow grave in her family compound.
The remains of the baby has been exhumed and will undergo autopsy while the stained knife has been kept as an exhibit. Reason for her committing this heinous crime is yet unknown.

YBNL vocalist, Adekunle Gold has revealed how his love for Tiwa Savage pushed him into making a photoshopped picture of himself and Tiwa Savage, which somehow created a link between himself and Olamide.

The singer, who hails from the royal Kosoko family of Lagos, recalled that his love for Tiwa Savage made him create a fake picture of himself hugging her from the back. He later uploaded it and seeing the reviews, he did the same for popular OAP Toolz and screen diva Tonto Dikeh.

Adekunle Gold claimed he was only “business friends” with Olamide since he helped the label design the logo and help design most of Lil Kesh and Viktoh’s work after they joined the label.

On how he became a member of the YBNL team, the singer said, ”I would never have thought that an Olamide would sign me, so there is no way i lobbied or pushed or sent my songs to him to listen to before signing me on the label, it was em..

when I dropped Sade, apparently he liked it and everybody in the YBNL team loved it, so 2days to OLIC concert, the first one ever, he called me to come chill with him at the hotels for rehearsals and everything. so 2 days after the concert, he called me that he would love to work with me that he thinks my song is a future and he doesn’t want it to change, i quickly took the deal before my guy would change his mind.”

The singer also opened up on the type of music he produces claiming they are all stories that relate to his life and stories of others, and that his much anticipated album GOLD would be dropping immediately after the Ramadan fast.

Iyiola Omisore, former Chairman of the Senate Committee on Appropriation, has hit back at the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), describing it as a tool being used against the opposition by the federal government. Mr. Omisore spoke through a statement issued yesterday stressing that the EFCC's decision to declare him wanted was senseless and born out of vendetta. He said:
“I read the statement issued by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) purportedly declaring me wanted as an attempt by that organization and its leadership to tarnish my image.
“That statement, if indeed it was issued by the EFCC, is the height of mischief and a deliberate attempt to assassinate my character. It is now very clear that the EFCC is indeed playing out the script of persecuting and harassing perceived opposition groups in the country.
“To be sure, there is no basis for the EFCC’s so-called statement. Only on Tuesday, May 24, we appeared in court with the EFCC asking for permission of the court for an extension of time in the preliminary objection to a suit filed against me. “The Managing Director of Firmex Gill, which the EFCC joined in their case, indemnified me from the company’s contracts and any such obligations.
“In other words, there is nothing related to me in the company’s contract deal with the Office of the National Security Adviser (ONSA). The company has even sued ONSA for its inability to pay the balance of the contract so awarded to it.
“Therefore, I am not aware of any issue relating to a contract of N700 million. There was no issue of N700 million anywhere. The relationship between the company and ONSA is civil and contractual, which has nothing to do with me,” Mr. Omisore said in his statement.

“Formerly, I worked with Intercontinental Bank PLC. That happened shortly; I lost the job when the bank got liquidated and everything went flat. But, as a man, you have to work and I can’t see anything I can’t do. So that was why I joined the new trend. The business has been on for the past 11 years; I met it in 2012, when I came to Lagos. A groom filed for divorce from his bride on their wedding night because she was busy texting her friends instead of having sex with him. A relative said after the wedding ceremony the Saudi bride and groom went to their hotel room in Manama in Bahrain and when he tried to consummate their marriage, his wife decided to use that time to reply friends who had sent their congratulations.
The same relative said the groom asked her to stop texting she refused and became angry. He added:
"When he asked her if her friends were more important than he was, the bride answered that they were."During the heated argument between them, the groom told her he was divorcing her and left the hotel.
The relative said that the groom filed for a divorce, the case was filed and the court referred it to the reconciliation committee to see if the newly-weds could be reconciled. But the groom refused to withdraw the case insisting he was no longer in being married to the bride and that the divorce case should proceed.

The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) led by Ayuba Wabba says they will proceed with its planned strike despite this morning's injunction by the National Industrial Court ‎restraining organized labor from embarking on its planned strike action tomorrow May 18th.
The head of information of NLC, Benson Upah, in an interview with TheCable said‎ “‎NLC’s position has not shifted. The strike will go on tomorrow,” he said.
When asked if he could be quoted, he said: “Quote me the strike will go on tomorrow.”
The leadership of NLC say the take-off point for workers in Abuja is at the NLC secretariat by 8am.
