If I can spare around 150k for wife's IELTS exam and Credential evaluation I should get an additional 20 at least to gimme 443. Just thinking of d next step. To request for a remark in listening to see if my score could jump to 8 from 7.5 or rewrite IELTS in about a month's time and hope to score better. What do u think guyz?

Bro I'll personally advise you rewrite IELTS, and get wifey to write her IELTS and get her ECA. All hands you can find on deck. This is a big move, give it everything you've got. You might just focus on a June Invitation, by that time you would have achieved better IELTS score, got points support from wifey and claim fresh points based on sibling being a PR or Citizen.

This is what I feel is the best course to take and it's open to criticism from more experienced members.

I have 7.5 in listening and 7 in others. Using d CRS calculator, with 8 in listening I should be in d threshold of 430 which is enough to beat d cutoff mark considering d announcement of 423 few days ago. Interestingly an addition of 1 or 2 to my score in listening should 9get me d 8 band considering d IELTS band rating. Should I also request for a remark or just rewrite the exam? What do u think guyz?

Hello. I actually think you should apply for a remark on your listening. I don't think you have anything to lose. You are already in the pool,
if you get an invite at 420, you'll accept the ITA and then hold off on submitting your application until your remark is concluded. If you do get an ITA and your scores are upgraded and your crs increases and you already got an ITA at 420, you simply write a letter of explanation to that effect attaching the scanned copy of your old and new TRFs and email notification of upgraded result from british council. If you do not receive an ITA at 420 before your request is concluded, be rest assured that if you do get an upgrade, you would get one.

You did well in convincing me. I'll request a remark on the Listening section. I agree I have nothing to lose except for the £60 remark fees.

I used to believe in the subjectivity theory until I read on nairaland about people who successfully got their marks bumped up in reading and listening. If you are absolutely sure that you didnt doo well in some parts, then you can let it go.

Let's be hopeful that you make the next cut off. Cos your ietls result is invalid during the time of the remark until its ready.. So a bird in had may be better. All the best

I was going to suggest a remark too and look at writing another too if deep down you know you didn't do well in the lsitening . If you know a .5 will pump your score to 470 think about it

I think my result in Listening reflects my performance, I switched off during the map reading section...unfortunately. So my plan is to hang on for two more rounds and see changes to CRS before rewriting IELTS.

Your ietls result looks almost good, have you considered a remark while its still fresh. Only 15k extra compared to the cost so far, while you wait for ITA, please don't let that result slide.

I thought of that too. But Listening section is objective. If it was subjective sections like Writing and Speaking, I would have challenged the result. Furthermore, I have maximum CRS points from all sections but Listening.

Hi Guys, thanks to all who have contributed to this topic. I started the journey by reading from page zero, and trust me it's been worth the effort.

Below is my timeline, hoping to keep updating as milestones are reached. I will be participating in the discussion henceforth so as to contribute my quota to this pool of knowledge.

My advice to aspiring pool candidates;
1. Make extensive research- I had all my questions answered right here on this topic!
2. If you're about to take your IELTS, please concentrate more on Listening and Reading. If I had 8 in Listening, my score would have been 478!

A fake charger is a potential fire hazard. As the OP posited, they are made mostly of substandard materials. Just a little more spend could go a long way in safety.

Beautiful stadium, nice development. Am just not thrilled that it is 30,000 capacity. A standard arena for fifa is 45,000. The smallest premier league stadium is 33,000 and its the Liberty stadium- Swansea's. Ibom aesthetics is world class. Its facilities is awesome (for a state governed project), but what is worth doing is worth doing well. I'd prefer this project to be completed in 2020 with no rush and posses the absolute thorough qualities that'll shake the world- just like Abuja did.
All the same, we can learn from this and move-on. Kudos to the facility managers for ensuring that a mandatory 7yrs maintenance was agreed and enacted with its constructors- Julius Berger. That's a welcome development.

I love this thread...... I'm doing a course on city development and we got to study a lot of examples of modern cities in the west that were built from the scratch and are still being built. I have to write a paper on a city, it's development strategies, analyse it n all and i remembered,there's something like this going on in Lagos,Nigeria why not read about it and find out more,so i started reading a lot about eko atlantic and it's an amazing project. I'm really impressed at how far they have gone, the strategies employed and all. I can't wait for it to be completed.
So i'm using eko atlantic as my study case,i hope i write a good paper
