The Enough Is Enough Movement Initiative (EIEMI) strongly condemns the tragic and unacceptable extrajudicial killing of Mr Oghenemine Ogidi, an upcoming musician, in Effurun, Delta State, by ASP Nuhu Usman of the Nigeria Police Force. This senseless act represents yet another painful reminder of a recurring and deeply disturbing pattern of excessive force and disregard for human life by some officers of the Nigeria Police Force, who have been entrusted with public safety. “We are outraged. We are saddened. And we are resolute in demanding justice,” the Movement stated. “No citizen should lose their life in such a reckless and unlawful manner at the hands of those sworn to protect them.” EIEMI emphasised that this incident is not isolated, but part of a broader systemic failure that continues to erode public trust in law enforcement. The Movement therefore calls on the Nigeria Police Force to urgently implement the following, as quick and necessary measures to mitigate and forestall future occurrences of this dastardly act: 1. Mandatory mental and psychological evaluations for officers at regular intervals 2. Comprehensive reorientation and retraining programs focused on human rights, rules of engagement, and community policing 3. Implementation of strict accountability mechanisms, to ensure officers who abuse power are swiftly identified and prosecuted. The EIEMI extends its deepest condolences to the family, friends, and loved ones of the deceased. “We grieve with you in this moment of profound and avoidable loss. We pray that God Almighty grants you strength, comfort, and justice in the face of this painful tragedy.” The Movement also acknowledges and appreciates the swift response and initial actions taken by the Inspector General of Police, Tunji Disu, in addressing the situation. However, EIEMI stresses that beyond immediate reactions, there must be sustained and visible efforts toward internal cleansing and institutional reform within the Force. “Swift action is commendable, but lasting change is what Nigerians truly need.” EIEMI further calls on residents, citizens, and especially the youth of Delta State to remain calm and law-abiding during this trying, agonising and frustrating period, while firmly insisting that justice must not only be pursued but must be seen to be done. “Anger is justified, but it must not be allowed to snowball into further chaos. Let us channel our collective demand into peaceful insistence on accountability.” The Movement concludes with a clear message: “No more excuses. No more patterns of abuse. No more lives cut short. Justice must prevail.” Enough Is Enough. According to news from the National Assembly, Former governor of Delta State, Senator Ifeanyi Okowa has allegely mobilised the Delta State Commissioner for Finance Chief Fidelis Tilije and other loyalists to the National Assembly to work against the creation of Anioma State, as the voting for the choice of the sixth South East State takes place. Senator Okowa who has been in a running battle with Senator Ned Nwoko sees the creation of Anioma State as a move to relegate his influence and has been using proxies to fight against the Creation of the state being championed by the latter. According to latest reports, Okowa has mobilised his former Commissioner for Finance Fidelis Tilije (who still serves as commissioner in the present cabinet) and other henchmen to compromise the South East Legislators with a bribe of $30,000 for each legislator. They are being helped by other loyalists of the former governor including Hon Nnamdi Ezechi and Hon Victor Nwokolo. This information was revealed by a South-East legislator who requested anonymity, while the voting is to take place soon. Anioma State has already secured the signatory of more than 95 Senators and has been dubbed as the most viable State Creation proposal for the South East today.

Former Member of the Delta State House of Assembly and Chieftain of the All Progressives Congress in the State, Honorable Samuel Osi Okocha, has tasked the Delta North Political class and elites to work with Senator Ned Nwoko in his advocacy for the creation of Anioma State at the National Assembly, insisting that it was time to set aside any differences or inhibitions in the interest of our people. In a statement from his base in the U.S., the former Aniocha North representative said the call was aimed at eliminating unnecessary sentiments that would derail the project. According to Hon Okocha "The recently concluded Public Hearing by the Senate indicates, the massive support that the Anioma State Advocacy being championed by Senator Ned Nwoko enjoys from different sections of the nation, and it calls for more cooperation from the home front. "In a recent interview on Vanguard Newspaper before the public hearing, I made it clear that the level of progress made on the advocacy is worthy of commendation. Now the public hearing has been held and we are closer to the actualisation of this agitation, therefore, there is a need for all stakeholders, the political class and elites to close ranks with the Senator. Speaking further, Hon Osi Okocha called for a high sense of patriotism and understanding from political leaders and stakeholders, insisting that the Anioma State advocacy had progressed beyond local considerations, and was now a national affair. He also stated " I have heard some arguments from those not entirely in support of the creation of Anioma State, and while I believe everyone has a right to their opinions, I believe this is a time to align our interests with that of the majority. "The level the advocacy has attained today is beyond Senator Ned Nwoko or his political survival, because we must not forget that the Anioma State advocacy has been on for more than 5 decades and is bigger than even the Senator himself, he is only the arrowhead of the advocacy in this present generation and time. "As a former legislator, I understand that a project of this nature requires a lot of lobbying, tact and diplomacy to succeed, and with the level of progress made thus far, it shows Senator Ned has done well. Securing the support and signatures of over 90 senators is huge, and he deserves support and encouragement. Continuing, Hon Osi Okocha called for the understanding of the political class, elites and stakeholders of Anioma Origin, insisting that although no one was indispensable, their input towards the actualisation of the project was invaluable and important. He concluded "At this juncture, I want to emphasise that the input of notable Anioma leaders, political office holders, and stakeholders across the country and beyond is very much needed. We must not constitute ourselves into obstacles and hindrances because we will be judged and rewarded by posterity.

JUSTICE FOR IVAN: SENATE RECOMMENDS SENATOR NED NWOKO’S MOTION FOR ₦200 MILLION COMPENSATION TO FAMILY. Abuja, Nigeria – In a landmark resolution that underscores the Nigerian Senate’s commitment to justice and institutional accountability, the Red Chamber has recommended the payment of ₦200 million as compensation to the family of late Ivan Onose Omhonrina, the two-year-old boy who was tragically killed by a stray bullet during an anti-drug operation conducted by operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) in Okpanam, Oshimili North Local Government Area of Delta State. The resolution followed a formal petition brought before the Senate by Senator (Prince) Ned Munir Nwoko, who represents Delta North—the constituency where the incident occurred. The petition was submitted on behalf of the bereaved Omhonrina family following the July 13, 2023, operation, which resulted in the fatal shooting of Ivan and left his younger brother, Eromonsele, barely a year old, with an eye injury. The disturbing circumstances surrounding the incident revealed that NDLEA operatives, in pursuit of suspected drug traffickers, reportedly fired live rounds indiscriminately in a densely populated civilian area. One of the bullets penetrated the premises of a local shop where the children were seated, striking the toddlers and resulting in Ivan’s tragic death. Moved by the gravity of the incident and the need for accountability, Senator Nwoko took immediate legislative action by presenting a detailed petition to the Senate Committee on Ethics, Privileges, and Public Petitions, chaired by Senator Neda Imasuen. The committee launched a comprehensive investigation involving medical records, eyewitness testimonies, and security reports. Following extensive deliberations and findings, the committee submitted its report during Senate plenary, recommending that the NDLEA be held liable and that a ₦200 million compensation package be paid to the family. Senator Nwoko, in presenting the report, urged his colleagues to consider the broader implications of unchecked use of force by security agencies and to recognize the weight of a young life lost. The Senate responded with resounding unanimity. A minute of silence was observed in memory of Ivan, and the Senate adopted the committee’s recommendation without dissent. In addition to the compensation, the Senate called on the NDLEA to conduct a full internal review of its operational procedures to prevent future occurrences of excessive and deadly force in civilian environments. Notably, it was confirmed that the officer responsible for the fatal shooting is currently undergoing prosecution, as part of a broader effort to ensure justice and institutional responsibility. Observers have praised the Senate’s resolution as a watershed moment in legislative advocacy for victims of state violence. Legal and civil society analysts have also noted that the outcome sets an important precedent for proactive legislative responses to systemic abuse and negligence. Senator Ned Nwoko’s leadership in the matter has drawn national attention, with many hailing the Delta North lawmaker as a model of responsive and people-centered representation. His timely intervention, thorough documentation, and unwavering pursuit of justice are widely regarded as the driving force behind the Senate’s firm stance. “This case is not just about compensation—it is about institutional conscience, rule of law, and the sanctity of human life,” a statement from Senator Nwoko’s media office noted. “No family should have to endure such tragedy without redress, and no agency should operate above the law.” The resolution has been transmitted to the relevant authorities for implementation, with civil society stakeholders now watching closely to ensure full compliance by the NDLEA. The Senate’s decisive action, led by Senator Nwoko, offers renewed hope to victims of institutional excesses across the country and reinforces the legislature’s role as a defender of citizens’ rights and justice.

Executive Director of the Rural Electrification Fund(REF) in Rural Electrification Agency, Hon. Doris Uboh, has advised contractors involved in power sector projects to improve their performance, noting authorities are poised to dismiss any of them failing to meet expectations. During an interactive and familiarisation meeting with stakeholders in the power industry, Uboh emphasised the importance of stakeholders and contractors only undertaking projects that align with their capabilities and expertise. The former member of the House of Representatives expressed readiness to collaborate with local stakeholders, highlighting that external interventions have not effectively addressed the longstanding issues in the power sector. According to her: “I am impressed with the presentations I have received and listened to so far, especially knowing that you all share my passion and belief that it will take Nigerians to make Nigeria work. “Bringing in external hands has only worsened the situation for obvious reasons. The fact that there are Nigerians like you who are willing, know the terrain, have the experience and are ready to work to provide solutions to the issues of epileptic and inadequate power supply is commendable.” The REF boss emphasised the widespread issues faced by Nigerians due to power instability as well as the Federal Government’s commitment to resolving them in a timely manner. According to her: “The issues affecting the power sector have become a problem that impacts all Nigerians, regardless of their wealth. These issues now manifest in places that were once thought to be immune.” “Furthermore, the Minister is deeply concerned and passionate about ensuring successful outcomes. Fortunately, young people currently play a dominant role in the industry, with many of us having exposure to international experiences through academic studies. This has allowed us to witness the success of foreign power sectors, instilling confidence that similar achievements are possible here. “Highlighting the importance of maintaining good conduct and honoring contractual agreements, Honorable Uboh emphasised, ‘I recently attended a workshop where I reiterated our Zero Tolerance Policy for Failed Projects.'” “As an agency, we are committed to supporting developers facing challenges within our scope. However, stakeholders must avoid taking on more than they can handle. If necessary, we will reassign projects to more capable individuals to ensure successful outcomes. Our primary goal is to achieve results.” “Even if you are a close relative, excessive delays on a project, as mentioned by the Minister, may lead to consequences. I will not hesitate to take action, even if it means parting ways with family members or colleagues before facing dismissal myself. “Before you tarnish my reputation, I will assign the job to someone who can execute it because I am exhausted, and so is everyone else, from these recurring power complaints. It feels as if something is fundamentally wrong with us as a people, but in reality, there is nothing wrong with us.” https://thenationonlineng.net/well-replace-underperforming-contractors-in-power-sector-ref-boss-vows/ |

Eventually, the effect of time will be in play and what will be, will be, and when this happens, the Almighty God who operates outside time, and space and realms, will have in motion, the manifestation of his abiding love on personalities like the young Justin Nwaeke Junior, a businessman and politician who hails from Ika North East LGA, who can be argued to have paid his dues. Born in Igbodo, Delta State Nigeria, Justin Nwaeke Junior, agreeably, a consensus of opinions insist that he maintains a personality perceived to sincerely desire the general and greater good, but records are for sacred purposes and herein are basic details about his personality. Justin Nwaeke Junior secured his Higher National Diploma in Marketing at the Abia State Polytechnic, thereafter moving to Abuja, Federal Capital Territory, from where he was posted to the Rural Electrification Agency (REA) for the compulsory one year National Youth Service Corps participation. After NYSC, through his resourcefulness, Justin Nwaeke Junior was regained at the Rural Electrification Agency Abuja, where he worked for the next four years, spending half a decade with the REA. He thereafter worked with Lafarge Nigeria, where he held forte as Personal Assistant to the South South Zonal Sales Representative of of the company. Through these periods of his life, he maintained a soft spot for social service and eventually got appointed as Special Duty Officer to Honorable Francis Ejiroghene Waive, Member Representing Ughelli/Udu Federal Constituency at the House of Representatives. In this capacity, he has served the Federal Republic of Nigeria through loyalty and commitment to his boss, Hon Waive. A leader, a fighter, Progressive and Comrade-in-arms, Justin Nweke Junior took the bull by the horn in 2022, when he expressed his intention to represent his people of Ika North East Constituency at the House of Assembly, going ahead to purchase both forms at the National Secretariat of the All Progressives Congress, Abuja. But Justin is not one to leave out the impact of men who were God’s instruments of empowerment to him, as he is always alive with cheers, deference and humility, when the words of Evangelist Moses Kamanaya always come to him. He believes and commits to the towering image and personality of Evangelist Kamanaya, who he says remains his backbone and father, thus conceding to shelving his ambition in the interest of peace and unity in the party. When the 2023 Gubernatorial and Presidential Elections heated up, Justin was called upon to form the secretariat of the Ika North East LGA Campaign Council set up by Former Deputy Senate President Senator Ovie Omo-Agege. From the above, Justin Nwaeke Junior clearly falls into the category of those who have been empowered with wisdom from heaven, having also learnt from experiences and lessons. Part of those experiences manifested via his sterling leadership antecedents as Founding member and Pioneer President 10 Brothers Association, a group made up young patriots committed to social justice and development. Justin Nwaeke Junior despite his many engagements, maintains utmost privacy with his wife and children, but remains charitable to the needy and less privilege, providing support and help, as well as being open to socially progressive interactions. Justin Nwaeke Junior is professionally certified as a member of the Chartered Institute of Purchasing Supply Management of Nigeria (CIPSMN) 2019.

The Director General of the National Biosafety Management Agency (NBMA) Olorogun Dr Rufus Ebegba KSJ, has praised the efforts and campaign consistency of the Delta State All Progressives Congress (APC), its Gubernatorial Candidate Senator Ovie Omo-Agege and running mate Rt Hon Friday Osanebi, stating that the Progressives are ready to take over and deliver. Dr Ebegba made this comment shortly after the Media Interaction between the Delta APC Gubernatorial Candidate and The Nigeria Union Journalists, (Delta state Chapter), at the State Campaign Office, in Asaba. He said " The APC is ready to wrestle power from the PDP, and from all indications victory will be ours. " We have the most sellable and prepared Candidate in Senator Ovie Omo-Agege, whose record of performance is very visible for all to see. " Compared with the PDP, the APC Candidate, Senator Agege is miles ahead in terms of exposure, performance, intellectual, human capacity management and social impact. "His ability to manage the affairs of the party alongside the leadership, the number of projects attached to his name, indeed gives the APC and Edge". Speaking further, the Biosafety DG urged deltans to align with the APC and Senator Ovie Omo-Agege to deliver good governance and better leadership. He said " Looking at the Manifesto EDGE TO BAND, and from the manner he responded to the questions, it's clear that APC and its Candidate are better prepared to handle the business of leadership and governance. "The PDP has failed the state and deltans will have better fortunes with the APC Government, this is why we must choose the best option. "We all must support APC and Senator Ovie Omo-Agege for Governor of Delta State, come 2023", he added

Minister of Transportation and Immediate Past Governor of Rivers State, Rt Hon Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi has declared his intention to run for President of The Federal Republic of Nigeria. He made this declaration at the Rivers State All Progressives Congress APC thanksgiving event, in Porthacourt, today. This brings to an end tons of speculations about his interest in succeeding President Muhammadu Buhari whose temure elapses in 2023, after serving two tenures. Rt Hon Amaechi was a two term former Speaker of the Rivers State House of Assembly, as well as former Special Assistant to Deputy Gov Peter Odili in 1992. He has also served as Chairman Conference of Speakers, Chairman Nigeria Governor's Forum. Ameachi was Director-General Presidential Campaign Council 2015, a feat he repeated in 2019. In February 2022, he was turbaned Dan-Amanar Daura 'The Trusted Friend of Daura'. He is currently serving his second stint as Minister of Transportation. CRA as he is fondly called has the experience of the legislature and executive, and he goes into the Presidential Contest as one of the Candidates to Beat. #AmaechiForPresident.

PRESS BRIEFING BY THE DEPARTMENT OF STATE SERVICES (DSS) HELD AT ITS NATIONAL HEADQUARTERS, ABUJA, ON TUESDAY, 14TH DECEMBER, 2021 Gentlemen of the Press I bring you warm compliments of the Director General, State Services (DGSS), Alhaji Yusuf Magaji BICHI, fwc. 2. The importance of this Press briefing is to partner with you to inform the public to be mindful of groups and individuals desirous of causing a breakdown of law and order in the country. This is more so that the Service has observed that some persons who are desperately seeking for power use wrong and skewed narratives to not only mislead citizens but overheat the polity. Already, they are exploiting and politicising the issue of insecurity in parts of the country for pecuniary and other selfish reasons. Many simply want to use the situation to cause divisions among citizens, seek cheap popularity and/or present the country as ungovernable. 3. The Service therefore warns that those who are involved in these should desist from such destabilising acts. It also enjoins politicians to play by the rule and avoid statements or activities capable of inflaming the fires of division and violence prior to 2023 elections. Opinion moulders like the clergy, religious and traditional rulers are also to guard their utterances and avoid inciting pronouncements. 4. In a related development, it is common knowledge that criminal elements will heighten their inglorious activities before, during and after the festive periods. Therefore, religious and community leaders, hoteliers and operators of markets, parks, recreational and relaxation centres are to be at alert and watch strange movements and activities around their facilities. Such facilities include places of worship, palaces, markets, schools and other public buildings. Owners and operators of these public spaces and their patrons should endeavour to isolate and report suspected rogues to security agencies for prompt response. Consequently, the Service’s interactive website and complaint lines will remain active and available to the public. Its formations at the State and local Government levels will be open 24 hours of the day. This is in line with the Service’s commitment and support to the populace. 5. As schools vacate and students return home for holidays, there is likelihood that subversive gangs will target them for recruitment for undesirable intents. These may include but not limited to financial crimes, armed robbery, civil disobedience and violent protests, substance abuse, banditry and kidnapping. In this respect, parents and guardians are advised to be watchful of their children and wards and ensure that they do not engage in unlawful acts. Aside students, recessing members of National Assembly/State Houses of Assembly and other public/private sector workers on vacation may be predisposed to threats of various degrees. This also applies to Nigerians who may travel from within and outside the country to join their loved ones for the celebrations. 6. These individuals are susceptible to kidnapping, hijack, assassinations, armed robbery and political manipulations. They are advised to be security conscious in order not to fall victims of these attacks and destructive political maneuvers. Let me reiterate at this juncture that those who sponsor kidnapping, banditry, terrorism, insurgency and all kinds of attacks on security agents, civilians and vulnerable populations should have a rethink. These persons, whether in the North or South, know themselves. There is no doubt that they have crossed the lines and it is now time to crush them. 7. On IPOB and the alleged ill-treatment of its detained leader, the Service has, without any fear of contradiction, applied restraint in making public statements over the matter. The reason is simply because it avoids joining issues especially over a matter that is sub-judice. But for the sake of transparency and democratic accountability, the Service has decided to make some clarifications. 8. It (the Service) denies all the inciting allegations by IPOB and states that: i. Nnamdi Kanu is not, in any way, maltreated in custody. Accusations of maltreatment negate the Service’s Standard Operation Procedure on the implementation of rights of a suspect; ii. Nnamdi Kanu enjoys full luxury in the holding facility incomparable to any of its type anywhere in the country. He is accorded full rights and privileges. He is never denied his right of worship or freedom from his select religious practice. iii. Adequate attention is paid to Kanu’s health. He has unhindered access to the best medical care and doctors. Kanu, himself, has confirmed to his visitors that the Service has never, in any way, maltreated him. He even confirmed this to the quartet of Senators Ike Ekweremadu and Enyinnaya Abaribe; Bishop Sunday Onuoha of the Methodist Church, Nigeria and Co-Chair, Interfaith Dialogue Forum for Peace and Ambassador Okechukwu Emuchay, MFR, Secretary-General, Ohanaeze Ndigbo, who saw him on Wednesday, 8th December, 2021. iv. The story of Kanu being starved is fallacious. He could not have been starved as he enjoys meals of his choice. That he is not allowed change of clothing is also false. He is regularly allowed change of clothing as against what is presented to the public by IPOB propagandists. Assuming he is being maltreated, how come his visitors told him he was looking well? All the allegations of violation of his rights as a suspect, victimization and starvation among others are not true. v. It is unfortunate that some elements have decided to use outright misinformation to represent the state of affairs. Those who make these false stories do so to attract undue attention for the singular purpose of achieving a desired end. Rather than focus on how he should get justice, Kanu’s legal team and some mischievous elements among them have chosen to use fake news to mislead the public. While the Court in its wisdom ordered that Kanu be remanded in the safer DSS Custody, some of his legal representatives, for reasons best known to them, preferred Kuje Prison and have failed to explain the rationale for such choice. vi. It may interest the public to note that a particular lawyer among Kanu’s Team is feasting on the matter such that one can conclude that his interest is beyond getting justice for his client. Be that as it may, the Court has the final say on the matter. 9. Instructively, the media is reminded of its duty in national security. As influencers, media practitioners are called upon to use their platforms to pursue peaceful coexistence. They must commit themselves to the unity of the country and shun misinformation, fake news, hate speech and such other misleading narratives. Journalists, while discharging their constitutional roles, are enjoined to be objective, conflict-sensitive and patriotic in their reportage. 10. Overall, citizens and residents are advised to cooperate with security and law enforcement agencies for lasting peace in the country. They should be wary of efforts designed from within and outside the shores of the country to misdirect or use them to undermine public order. Therefore, they should exercise caution in the way and manner they may conduct their affairs during the festivities and beyond. On its part, the Service will continue to collaborate with other sister agencies and relevant stakeholders to ensure that all law abiding citizens and residents pursue their legitimate businesses without hindrances. 11. While it has become expedient to issue these warnings and advisories, the Service maintains that it will not hesitate to deal, in accordance with the law, with those who may wish to test its resolve in ensuring internal security and national stability before, during and after the yuletide. For those that wish to, they must note that nemesis and the long hands of the law will definitely catch up with them. For emphasis, no one, no matter how highly placed, will be allowed to take laws into his or her hands. 12. Finally, the DG, Management and Staff of the DSS appreciate everyone who has supported the Service in its effort to ensure peace and security in the country. Let us remember that security is the responsibility of everyone. Let us support security agencies to achieve the desired peace for our country. We wish every one of you and indeed all Nigerians a hitch free yuletide season. As we look forward to a new year, we wish you a prosperous 2022. Thank you. PN Afunanya, Ph.D, fsi Public Relations Officer Department of State Services National Headquarters, Abuja 14th December, 2021.
