He sat still and drew empty stares
Boisterous smiles
Cocked head
Naked emotions on his aged face

Threadbare bones on heavy raiment
shiny skull betrayed the tired smile
Shady deals on his mind
While the attackers marauded behind

Memories of his fleeing youth
conquered every fear of a frail boot
He now wears! Thinner than the 'loot'
His memories a thousand fleeing demons!

Every head shook in those failures
The open eye that now caresses the coal tar
Apart from a faded smile
That still hung on his unfinished memories

LiteratureFlute For The Gods by lordthunderbolt(op): 8:07am On Oct 15, 2014
The hot liquid
Caress the silent gavel
The spirits shared bouts of love
Opprobrium men readied fate

Some for injustice
Others for freedom of some poultice
Veneration and atrocious ills
Let the gods decide for men are biased!

If men whisper the bribery to gods
The piper their mouth piece
Who says the spirits are not biased??!
Masquerades a kind piece of all kinds?

Blankets of opinions and confused men
Is the flute of the gods
The mystery hoick, who knows?
If they are gods! Why dance to our flutes and wine??
LiteratureRe: Endorse Topics To Make The Frontpage by lordthunderbolt(m): 7:52am On Oct 11, 2014
Cuddlemii:
Hello Everyone,

It has come to our attention that the literature section is not fully represented on the FrontPage.
Therefore, I have decided to create this thread, to ensure a long-lasting solution.

This thread would serve as an endorsement thread for topics(.i.e. FrontPage Recommendations).
The reason for using the word, "endorsement" rather than recommendation is to show the level of commitment.
We are not just selecting topics for the sake of it, but putting our signatures on them (.i.e. contract / testimonial)
Writers should set themselves apart from other posters. Much is expected!

RULES & STANDARDS

1) A Topic can be recommended by anyone apart from the writer itself.
The reason being that, writers would focus only/more on their own write-ups.
**We need to help, nurture & evaluate each other**

2) Topics must be worthy of the FrontPage:
The topic must be a reflection of the section.
Think of the topic as the section's brand.
To be candid, not all threads have quality write-ups.
Some need extensive work, some need little adjustments here and there.
**Proper spacing, paragraphing, punctuations, etcetera**

3) Topics must be selected from all Literature Genres:
Genres like Poems, Novels, Drama, Short stories, Fiction, Prose, Humor, Biography, etcetera must all be given a fair chance.
**Stories should not make the FrontPage all time. We should market, encourage and motivate all our writers alike**

4) Each day, I would select the first recommended topic from the pool of topics endorsed and submit it for the FrontPage.
You have until 8am in the morning to endorse a thread.
In the case where the first topic is not worthy, the second or third topic would be chosen.
**Please, review the threads thoroughly before recommending them**

5) The moderator & Super moderator(s) have the right to disregard topics that do not meet the standard
or do not conform with the rules and regulations of the forum.

**Sometimes, topics might not be included on the FrontPage.
Due to circumstances, interruption, disruption, eruption & uncertainties grin.
It's not automatic, it's not rocket science, it's a process!
The recommendation from the literature section might not get in on time. Just be patient!**

LiteratureSHADE....A Poetry Of Struggle Between Humans And The Spirits by lordthunderbolt(op): 7:48am On Oct 11, 2014
Shade shade daughter of the sage

Loved an enchanter of the spirit

An apprentice to the gods

And she the spirits trailed

Beautiful spirit 'they' wailed

She ran to Dele!

I learn from the gods themselves!

And none shares my bride!!

Who can stand the king of spiritshuh

Not a mortal

Neither an apprentice

Who was a perfect judgehuh

The gods don't protect their apprentice

neither can the spirit  marry

And none can touch our beautiful shade

Neither will the spirit accept Dele

Life twirled in shadows

Dele grew old

Shade younger and more beautiful

The regrets of the spirit hung

The gods...The spirits

held both ends of the coin

And a brave Dele opted for peace

To hold his fading walking stick

neither could die

Neither could have Shade

And the greatest of guilt of the apprentice

The gods never punish spirits!

Or do theyhuh

LiteratureTHE BRAIL. ....A Poetry For Lost Minds by lordthunderbolt(op): 7:23am On Oct 11, 2014
Gothic brails for sight

'They garble in broad day light

Marbles of 'fear' cave in their spite

Burning candles can't light the wild

shame! Shame!! they called!

And sneered, jeered and mauled!

Miles of memory stalled

Gates of bolted dissent jailed

The 'blinds'! The screamed the heavens

Decline! Their trade of the season

Damaged every brail of reason

Fibres of reason shredded for the heathens

While filthy hand's dinners are clean

they fed fat while we grew slim!

Our nightmares became their ''dream''

Bring the brail! The blind never smile in 'gleam'

My brothers please hold 'our hands'

Don't let us wander like lambs

Roaming the land

Intelligent cowards of  mine

Please my fathers why the stance?

We the 'youths are in a trance

Do we have a future? We are not here to dance!

We are not irresponsible and it's no lie

Our 'country' of old is changing

The innovation of our world is branding

Our ethics is crashing

Everyone passes the blame debating!

My brothers, out hands are not tied

There is so much to do....don't shy

Hold our minds...so it doesn't stay dried

We want change!  Let's be United first...are we tiredhuh?

EducationFulani Herdsmen Rampage. ...a Poetry For My Children... by lordthunderbolt(op): 11:45pm On Oct 06, 2014
Aboki Aboki zo mana!

The children in the street called

Cows wagged their tails to the mallam

Their children beg for inspection madam

Our children pelt the devastating cows

That digged the farms

And the cows ran the van

The mallam demanded their tiny hands

Or a greater harm

One dead cow is better than our clan

And we pondered the harm on our land

His priced asset remains our legs and hand

Fulanis! !!!

What is a dead cow to a human life?

Next time they scream Agboki zo mana!

I must make them visit their grand mother
PoliticsLeadership And Opposition Manacles=apc Headache by lordthunderbolt(op): 11:27pm On Oct 06, 2014
I've been trying seriously to stay above some of the confusion around my state, Akwa Ibom being my first love above other states in Nigeria, but this one am utterly tired of accusing myself for being quiet! My governor has been very fond of confusing both his accusers and his followers in a miasma of projects, and plethora of missing monuments of identification, recently a good friend of mine who had been visiting our house has lost touch with were the mango tree was which is now replaced with beautiful street lights powered by nature! Am sure most of his detractors may have missed their directions after spending some weeks outside the state.

My lovely state keeps revolving around ecclesiastical feats and magnanimous drama ranging from the opposition calling the erudite 5 star hotel and conference centre an abode of sin! Not shocking enough are other recreational facilities like the tropicana cinematography complex a master art of corrupted delusion!

Times the opposition in Nigeria makes many sick and others very ecstatic over varied topics, we should be asking some pertinent questions so that we don't create a monster and indemnify it an angel! When did development become a white corrupted elephant project? When did the sea port at Ibaka become a collateral misadventure?  And whosoever that attacks the government just for the purpose of taking over ever had been better than the former?.

Many issues abound and this opposition forgets that the failure of government is the failure of all its citizens because it's citizens are human and they are not ruled by malevolent spirits! But by humans who are neither perfect nor correct! We as citizens should stop ogling with fanatic fantasy while the festered issue remains leprous and untouched, also the media houses should also be very careful on some projected issues pouring out of its orifice, yes! It may make the headlines, it may even break box office records! It may even be most misguided for the realist and the unenlightened!

The sphere of political chasm must be arrested before the opposition will erase reality with hate and ecstatic fantasy of malevolent citizens who mean ill because to them every leader is a potential looter and a mindless corrupt bot that doesn't even care for the public...but they never see the hidden hand profiteering from our loss and that of our country that will never allow fixed pipes to remain sealed! This makes leadership in today Nigeria a search for utopia, and every politician is viewed in the spectacles of a biased magnifying glass where a speck becomes a mountain! And argumentum ad populum blames everyone that has a political coat minted on the saddles of leadership!

Humans are the hardest specie and democracy admonishes us to speak up both good and vile, education makes it worse, where an illiterate can never teach a proffesor! Leadership is never meant for babies and a call to action is imminent for everyone to look deeper into the sacred faucets of leadership and choose a man who above all values the ethics of a community more than a demeaning lifestyle.

Leadership is not a cake walk, before you criticise...have you ever lead before? ?? If you haven't lead before how can you know the rigors to leading different people with different languages who never understand their boundaries?

The strings that bind him are heavy but loose

For all to see his use

What can he accept? What can he defuse?

The people or the politician? Who will be refused?

This is the dilemma of a king sitting on pins

Whose cabinet are king pins

Pinning him to puppet strings

Blaming his confused state as lack of will

When the king is only a puppet

What can he do? But be a prophet

To others who can be called expert

After he has been exposed to corruption experts

What corrupt men smiling as leader!

Dealing with any that comes with eraser

To exorcise corruption from their boxers

To such a man! Is an enemy meant for the hangers

Where are the passionate men?
Who stood here aeons ago stern
Neither frustrated by hunger nor pain
Where are they? After all these years of strain

Where are the young maidens who use to play here?
And adore the young men working in the street
Who made the street litter with joy to play
What changed? As we groaned the years of gray

Where are the children who use to dance?
And fill the streets with laughter as they prance
Probably a new dance to be shown to the old with a
stance
Why have these bitter wars made children to grow old
in elegance?

Where are all the flowers that grew on our streets?
Now are used as vegetables to feed!
The frail and hungry, who can't stand on their feet!
Standing where these men once stood at ease

How soon does history repeat its tricks
Amongst us...here we are debating its stink
Battle fields and ethnic purging shouldn't we think?
How our children use to plat there on that brink

Look at those abandoned fields
All rich in ''Green Gold'' now wasted with no yields
Tradition was abandoned to civilization to shield
''dark crude'' with nothing to shield this hatred, so they
bleed

I remember the youths used to be here debating for
change
Now only few are here, others are brainwashed to
avenge
Innocent bystanders, who can't even revenge
Others are building their cities, others are fighting to
quench

I know the passionate mothers who stood for their
children
Would you allow this war to bury these treasure of
brethrens?
Or dissolve the country you bore? In excruciating
migraine?
Nigeria is our children...lets stand up and protect our
fallen brethren!
PoliticsRe: “There Is So Much Eagerness To Discredit Us"- Nigerian Military by lordthunderbolt(m): 5:27pm On Sep 30, 2014
obailala: There's a difference between outright discrediting of the Nigerian Military and simply stating the obvious. I would categorically say it that the Nigerian military is weak against the tiny insurgence and the reason for this is clearly before our very eyes.

There are several moles in the military aiding bokoharam. There are also a lot of stinkingly corrupt top defence chiefs who through their corruption has rendered the almighty Nigerian military spineless in the face of a tiny bokoharam insurgence... The political leadership of Nigeria is also culpable; a lot of people in power are profiting massively from the huge defence budgets. Even the recently approved $1billion dollars will still go down the drain if the corruption infesting the system is not tackled.

Ordering Newspapers not to report the atrocities of BH does not mean the atrocities were not being committed daily. Also, ghost websites like Sahara reporters and premium times reporting the situation as it is does not mean they are in support of the BH massacre.

Until our leaders stop playing politics with our lives (accusing opposition for BH) and focus their attention on those corrupt military chiefs and civilian accomplices in the defence ministry who loot defence budgets, the Nigerian Military will continue to be spineless.
chairman shey you are a Nigerian? huh?
the army is recruiting. ...This English is not helping us
please enlist and then repeat this spurious burlesque again. ...let's see if your language will still be the samehuhhuh

By all means, go on strike. It's ur constitutional right. But mark my words. The rifts among ur member associations WILL be ur downfall. Government successfully used "divide and rule" tactics on NMA (NARD vs MDCAN). So again I say: Piece of cake, Piece of a55 grin
