Nairaland / General / Re: Britons Disgusted By Nigerians Who Fly To UK Hospitals To Give Birth by lordy(m): 4:07pm On Jan 18, 2017
The Britons' comments show so much hatred. Why?
Nairaland / General / Britons Disgusted By Nigerians Who Fly To UK Hospitals To Give Birth by lordy(m): 2:21pm On Jan 18, 2017
A new reports has it that British citizens are extremely disgusted by non-British women, especially Nigerians, who fly into the UK to give birth, calling them all sorts of names.

“Let them give birth in hospital car park,” says a Briton of Nigerian women who fly to UK for childbirth.

“Stop these vermin at the point of entry,” advises another.

Story is on Concise News

British citizens are very disgusted by Nigerian pregnant women who fly into the country to give birth and, therefore, want the UK’s health tourism bill amended, Concise News gathers.

This was made known recently following a story published by The Sun in which it was reported that a Nigerian mum flew to Britain to give birth to twins and racked up £350,000 (about N136m) hospital bill in the process which will be paid for with tax payers money.

The woman had a Cesarean section and her baby were admitted in the intensive care unit of the hospital racking up the huge bill in the process.

Yet another Nigerian woman was accused to have drained tax-payers off their resources by giving birth to quadruplets after going into premature labour on a flight to London. One of her babies died.

UK citizens have repeatedly criticized its government for failing to clamp down on health tourism, which is estimated to cost tax payers £230million a year.

The unimaginable words used to describe Nigerians who fly to the UK to give birth, however, sends some shock waves down the spine. Below are some of the comments:

Shirley Connolly
“This is why everyone arriving in the UK should be checked to see if they have health insurance. If not then charge them 5 times more than if they bought it before they set off, before they enter the country. If they wont supply proof or refuse, refuse them entry. Time to come down hard on them, It should be if you are not born here no matter what your status is within the UK you pay for your medical treatment. No wonder we have families in Africa send their HIV positive family members here they get the drugs for free. Should never happen test if positive sent back they are not our tax payers problem.”

Kay Richards
“Well all my comments on this thread on DE have been moderated. All I said is that pregnant women should not be allowed to fly. All immigrants should have insurance. Stop all foreign aid and take out monies owed to NHS. This has been going on for years. Mostly at London hospitals. The govt. has got to stop talking about doing things and actually DO them.”

Speediedixon

"cluck the lot of them! if they don't have a Uk passport and speak English with an English accent let them give birth in the hospital carpark! if they die let it be a warning to the clunts!"

Nairaland / General / Lagos Or Rio De Janeiro, Which Is Safer? by lordy(m): 3:52pm On Jan 05, 2017
American Professor of economics says Lagos is safer than Rio De Janeiro which happens to be tourists major destination.

What's you opinion?

An American professor of economics at George Mason University, Prof. Tyler Cowen, has described Lagos, Nigeria, as being a lot more safer than tourists major destination, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

Prof Cowen, who defied friends and associates’ advice not to travel to Lagos for security reasons, said that he was described as ‘crazy’ to have considered visiting Nigeria.

“Some Nigerian expats warned me I might not get out of the airport alive,” wrote Prof Cowen in his Bloomberg column on Tuesday.

“The reality is that I walked around freely and in many parts of Lagos. I didn’t try to go everywhere or at all hours, and I may have been lucky.

“Yet, not once did I feel threatened, and I strongly suspect that a trip to Lagos is safer than a trip to Rio de Janeiro, a major tourist destination.

“In my first trip to Rio I was attacked by children with pointed sticks. In my second I found myself caught in a gunfight between drug lords,” disclosed Prof Cowen.

Nairaland / General / EFCC Arraigns Katsina Permanent Secretary For Fraud - Concise News by lordy(m): 4:49pm On Jan 03, 2017
By Concise News correspondents

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) today January 3, 2017 arraigned one Sule Yusuf Saulawa, a permanent secretary formerly attached to the office of the Deputy Governor of Katsina State, before Honourable Justice Sanusi Tukur of the Katsina High Court.

Saulawa was arraigned on a one count charge of Obtaining by False Pretense contrary to section 1(1)(a) of the Advance Fee Fraud and Other Fraud Related Offences Act, 2006.

The accused person, who is a permanent secretary in Katsina but currently without portfolio, allegedly obtained the sum of N2,500,000 ( Two Million, Five Hundred Thousand Naira Only) while he was attached to the office of the Deputy Governor of Katsina.

He obtained the said amount from the complainant under the pretext that the then Deputy Governor’s office would award the complainant a contract for the supply of fertilizer to all the Local Government areas in Katsina State.

Saulawa obtained the money under the guise that it is for the purchase of bidding documents. It was further alleged that after obtaining the money from the complainant, the accused person cut contact with the complainant.

Investigation into the alleged fraud by the EFCC revealed through one Kabiru Dan-Asali who disclosed in his statement that he was present at the time the complainant, Musa Baba, gave one Nasiru who is a boy to the complainant, the sum of N2,500,000 ( Two Million, Five Hundred Thousand Naira) on behalf of the accused person. The accused person confirmed this in the voluntary statement he made to the EFCC.

Despite all this, the accused person pleaded not guilty to the charge when it was read to him in court. In view of his plea, prosecution counsel, Sa’ad Hanafi Sa’ad requested the court for trial date.

He also asked that the accused person be remanded in prison custody. However, cousel representing the accused person, Bashir Mohammed, moved a bail application praying the court to admit his client to bail pending the determination of the case.
