The Economic and Financial Crimes
Commission (EFCC) has arrested a popular Abuja socialite who is also a top official of the Nigerian Prisons Service, Dr (Mrs) Imaobong Akon Esu-Nte. The suspect, a Grade Level 14 Officer with the Federal Ministry of Finance seconded to the Nigerian Prison Service as Head, Capital Accounts, was picked up Tuesday May 6 by operatives of the anti graft agency. And for several hours, she was grilled by investigators over allegations bordering on corruption, abuse of office and money
laundering.

EFCC officials said they received tip-off
regarding the suspect’s lifestyle which was inconsistent with her position as a public servant on a monthly salary of N121, 460
($751).

The suspect owns several exotic cars and properties scattered over the (Federal Capital Territory) Abuja. Among her properties is a
palatial mansion, a duplex with two-bedroom Boys Quarters at Sun City Estate, Abuja and another duplex at Karu Extension, Abuja, which is nearing completion.

Three luxury automobiles were recovered from her at the time of arrest. They include a Mercedes Benz ML 350 4matic wagon, Mercedes Benz GL 500 SUV and a Toyota
Sienna.

EFCC sources said Imaobong’s arrest was triggered by intelligence report on suspicious inflow of huge funds into her account with a new generation bank.

Close scrutiny of the account by investigators literally opened a can of worms, as it came to
light that the suspect is the promoter and signatory to the accounts of three companies: Abasiaga Global Resources Limited, Abasiono Nigeria Limited and Ememima Globalb Ventures Limited, the companies were established after she was posted to the Nigerian Prison Service and all the directors are her children (Dr. Etsu Daniel, Eme Faith
and Uwen David).

She is also the owner of two other
companies- Darima Properties and ID
Petroleum.

Sources revealed that several cash and cheque deposit into the accounts of these companies and the personal account of Imaobong in Zenith and Access bank could not be justified. The accounts of her
companies are said to have recorded an inflow of not less than N200million between 2009 and now.

Another startling discovery by investigators for which the suspect has failed to provide an
explanation, is the nearly N60million she paid in various branches into the account of Redeem Christian Church of God, a prominent pentecostal church in Karu, a suburb of Abuja. ‘There are instances in which she paid N5m, N7m and N6m into the church’s account. Obviously this cannot be tithe an EFCC investigator told SaharaReporters.

She must explain the source of the funds and the purpose for which the payments were made”, one of the investigators who pleaded not to be named because he was not authorized to speak on the matter said.
Equally shocking, is the discovery of five names that consistently (on monthly basis) paid money into the private accounts of Imaobong at Zenith and Access bank since she arrived at the Nigerian Prisons Service as
Head, Capital Accounts.

At press time, the socialite was still facing interrogators, unable to explain her sudden wealth. Sources informed SaharaReporters that she told her interrogators that she made her money doing contracts, contrary to provisions of the public service rule that forbids a serving officer to establish companies or prospect for contracts.

Spokesman of the EFCC, Wilson Uwujaren while confirming the arrest warned public officers engaged in corrupt practices to desist or risk the wrath of the law. He said the agency was determined to ensure that
officers who abuse their positions for self enrichment are brought to book.

He equally pleaded with the members of the public to stop celebrating corruption by asking questions when it is obvious that the lifestyle of certain persons can not be supported by their known sources of income.

Kogi State on Wednesday made another unusual history as its fourth democratically elected governor, Yahaya Bello, was sworn in without a deputy.

The man nominated by the All Progressives Congress to be Mr. Bello’s deputy, James Faleke, made real his threat not to present himself for swearing in with the governor.

He was conspicuously absent at Wednesday’s ceremony, and no replacement was announced at the event.

The legal implication of that arrangement remained unclear Wednesday.

It is the first time in Nigeria’s political history that an elected governor would be inaugurated without a deputy.

The North-Central state had made another history late last year when a leading governorship candidate, Abubakar Audu, died before its governorship election is concluded, throwing the state into what appeared a constitutional logjam.

On Wednesday, Mr. Bello was inaugurated amid pomp and ceremony by the Chief Judge of the state, Nasir Ajana, who administered the oath of office and that of allegiance on him.



Mr. Bello was picked by the All Progressives Congress to replace its late candidate, Mr. Audu.

Mr. Faleke objected to the party’s decision and approached the election tribunal in the state asking it to declare him governor-elect.

He contended that the election had been won and lost before Mr. Audu died and that he (Faleke) should have been pronounced governor-elect.

Mr. Faleke has repeatedly claimed that he was not consulted or taken into confidence by anyone regarding the choice of Mr. Bello as Mr. Audu’s replacement.

He was also quoted in various reports as expressing suspicion that the party was planning to announce his replacement on the grounds that he absconded from Wednesday’s inauguration.

Those attending Wednesday’s inauguration include the National Chairman of the APC, John Odigie-Oyegun as well as the governor of Nasarawa state and the Minister of Communication Technology, Adebayo Shittu.

The President of the Senate, Bukola Saraki, was represented by Kabir Gaya, a senator and former governor of Kano.

The Senator representing Kogi East, Dino Melaye, who gave the welcome address, said Wednesday’s inauguration was historic because “a minority is now the governor of Kogi state”.

He pledged that Mr. Bello would not disappoint the people of the state and called on all aggrieved people to unite and cooperate with the new governor for the sake of Kogi state.

overtaken, as an Indianapolis mother gave birth
to seventeen babies for over 29 hours.

Dr. Jack Morrow, the doctor that assisted the

gonna have nightmares about this day for a
long time! This was my last delivery!”, he
says.

The governments of the United States and the United Kingdom have said they do not recognise the passports being issued by the Movement for the Actualisation of the Sovereign State of Biafra.

The National Director of Information, MASSOB, Sunny Okereafor, had said two weeks ago that the passport was valid worldwide, adding that the travel document costs N5,000 while its renewal costs N2,000

He had said, “I assure you that the Biafran passport is valid. Except Nigeria, other countries of the world accept Biafran passport and allow our citizens to travel with it. In Europe, North and South America, Biafran passport is accepted. Nigeria is the only country that seizes Biafran passport. Go to neighbouring Ghana here, they will stamp the passport for you. Don’t be confused by the propaganda of the Nigerian government that there is nothing like Biafra passport.

“MASSOB appeals to Biafran citizens to procure their passport and use it to travel. If you doubt me, get a Nigerian passport while I have my Biafran passport; when we get to Europe, you will see who they will welcome than the other. Many people with the Nigerian passport have been repatriated, but have you heard of anybody with Biafran passport receiving such ill-treatment?”

However, our correspondent sent an email to the American consulate in Lagos to inquire from the US regarding the claim of MASSOB.

In his response, the Deputy Public Affairs Officer at the consulate, Frank Sellin, said, “The United States does not consider passports purporting to be from a Biafra entity to be a valid legal document for purposes of visa issuance.”

A similar response from the British Government was sent to The PUNCH via email.

The UK recalled that it did not support the disintegration of Nigeria during the 1967 Biafran War and had not changed its stance 49 years after.

A statement by the Press and Public Affairs Officer, British High Commission, Abuja, Mr. Joe Abuku, read in part, “The answer is unequivocally ‘no’. The UK does not recognise the so-called Biafran passport

“The position of the UK Government during the Biafran War is a matter of historical record. The UK Government’s position, which reflected the Charter of the Organisation of African Unity, was to recognise the borders laid down at independence.

“The Biafran War caused great suffering and the UK supported the reconciliation work that followed the conflict. The UK supports the territorial integrity of Nigeria and the Nigerian Government’s commitment to work for a secure and prosperous Nigeria for all Nigerians.”

Hello Blogger’s Lab!

I beg you all to read this to the end, it might be of
use to you!

I am sure not upto 10% of people here knows
me… probably the people that knows me here
may Tag me as scammer because i did some failed
deals on group members adding last year!

I am actually a Young blogger and i started it in
2014 after i left secondary school… i worked for
one person or another and i end up getting
stories or getting scammed.. i then decided to stay
on my own but nothing worked out because i bought
several adsense which got disabled… just when i
got an adsense account from a genuie source and
i made my 2 months earnings $1300+ i got
disabled again while waiting for my pin! that was
in August 2015

I lost hope, i felt frustrated, i felt sick, and i
couldnt help it again i even decided to do Stuffs
that are not legit online so i can make money but
nothing worked!

in september 2015 my schoolmates introduced
me to Bet9ja sport betting and the very first day i
attempted it, i played with 1k and won N14,000
Little did i know that it was a welcome Notice! I
used half of the money to buy a new pair of
shoe…. and i took the rest the next day!
within 1 hour everything was taken away from
me! I felt bad that day and i went back to my
hostel. i kept on playing and loosing all my
feeding allowances, food money, borrowed
money, & hard earned money. The highest money
i have ever won was 28k
Last week my uncle decided to send me 100k
from USA through western Union and i decided to
go and boost some of the money… i keep playing
this thing not because i am addicted, but because
i thought i can recover all the money i av loosed!
and i see some people turn to instant millionares
through bet9ja… Olamide,lilkesh,phyno and
crazeclown supports it as been ambassadors to
this bet companys!

I took 30k from the 100k my uncle sent to me to
the bet shop last week and everything wooped
away. i went to withdraw another 30k… it all went
within the twinkle of an eye again… i went ahead t
o withdraw the last 40k and i only had 1k left to
go back home. it sounds like i am the biggest fool
of all time , but till now i cannot explain the spirit
that pushed me to do so. I was just regreting and
there was nothing more i could do.

Today Tought me the lesson of my Life! on
wednesday my mom gave me 15k to keep for her
when she travelled to ilorin she told me she was
going to come back next week monday… so on
thursday again, i was forced to go and play this
thing.. i said within myself that i wont play with
more than N1000 no matter the case only to find
myself loosing the whole money as usual. then
unfortunately, my mom called me that she was
coming home on friday that i should get the
money ready as she needs it to fuel her car and
buy stuffs as she was going for a wedding i
couldnt tell her anything because she trusted me and
that is the only reason she gave me the money to
keep! i started sending out messages to all friends
on facebook 90% ignored me probably because i had
one issue or another with them, i started selling
all i had …pages, groups, i even sold my phone at
3k just to raise money. finally i was able to raise
N7000 … My mom asked for her money this
morning and i told her that i kept it in the bank
that i was going to withdraw it from the bank… i
went to bet9ja again to see if i can raise it to 15k
and give her all the money without any stress.
Everything went again as usual. That was when i
knew that i am addicted and it is more like a curse
i can break.

I spent 2k Airtime calling different people to help
me with money, Both Enemies and friends
everyone turned me down… but just in
time Francis Vincent Donvin sent me a message
that that i should send my account number after
recieving my message.. I asked for only 10k and
he gave me 20k to settle myself he told me that
he could av helped me to start a life Afresh but he
sees that i am already an addict to gambling.

immedately i sent my Account Number he
credited me with 20k immedately and that is how
i got out of all trouble today! I have made a
promise to myself that i will never Gamble again
and i will look for a platform to start Blogging
again!
