The 28 feet statue, Jesus De Greatest, which will be the fifth tallest statue in Africa, will be unveiled at St. Aloysius Catholic Church in the Abajah Town Nwagele local government area of Imo state, on January 1, 2016. The statue was funded and offered to the church by Obinna Onuoha, founder of Premier Petroleum Limited.

According to a statement signed by Onuoha's rep, the statue has a total weight of 40 tons and is made of marble. Onuoha, an indigene of Abajah, and a devout catholic, is a graduate of York St. Johns University in the United Kingdom and the Harvard Business School

Governor Ayodele Fayose of Ekiti State says he is more
politically relevant than former President Olusegun
Obasanjo.


Fayose added that as the number one citizen of Ekiti
State, he wields more power than Obasanjo who “goes to
Abuja to beg President Muhammadu Buhari for political
favors.” The governor said this during a press conference
in Lagos on Sunday. He said;



“I was governor without a godfather. I was
governor for three years but Obasanjo took me
out. Obasanjo is now an expired man today and I
am still more than relevant. He is expired. He goes
to Aso Rock every week to go and beg.

“How many times did Buhari visit him (Obasanjo)
when he was President? Buhari did not go to Aso
Rock throughout. He didn’t even go for Council of
State meetings. What is Obasanjo looking for in
the Villa? A man of 80! What is he looking for?

“He keeps writing to Presidents to nominate
ministers for them. That was Goodluck Jonathan’s
offence. Enough is enough.”


Fayose said he had discovered a plot by Buhari to
remove him from office.


He faulted the setting up of the Nigerian Army’s Board
of Inquiry to investigate alleged malpractices and
involvement of its personnel in the 2014 Ekiti and Osun
states governorship elections.


The governor said since the All Progressives Congress
had failed to upturn his victory at the Supreme Court, the
APC-led Federal Government was planning to present
the army panel’s report to the Supreme Court and
ultimately remove him from office.


Fayose, however, warned that if he was removed from
office, against the wishes of the people of Ekiti State,
Buhari’s government would be ‘brought down’.


He said the international community, including the
United States, had described the 2014 Ekiti governorship
election as free and fair. He, therefore, wondered why
the APC could not respect the will of the people.


He noted that even during the 2015 National and House
of Assembly elections, the Peoples Democratic Party
won all the seats which showed that the PDP was popular
in Ekiti State. He said;


“The APC and the President are the ones behind
this. That military panel was selected to do a
hatchet job. The same military handled the
elections in Ekiti and Osun states. Why are they
singling out Ekiti? The PDP won in Ekiti while the
APC won in Osun and heaven did not fall.”


Fayose said he would continue to tell the truth even at
the risk of being murdered.


“I am going places, I have history to make. I am
going higher and higher. The very day Buhari’s
administration faces me, his government will come
down. I am a child of destiny,” he said.

It is being reported that Mavin records artist, Sierra
Leonean-Nigerian singer, Hadiza Blell, more popularly
known by her stage name Di’Ja, got married to her
Abuja-based lover yesterday night, December 10, in
Kaduna.


The groom’s name is said to be Rotimi.
According to Bishop Ikedi, security was tight at the venue
and guests were banned from using cameras.


The reason
why the wedding, which was shrouded in secrecy, was held
in Kaduna was because Di’ja’s mother is from Kaduna
while her father is from Sierra Leone.


There have been rumours circulating that Di’ja is pregnant
but they cannot be independently confirmed, but if it is
true, it may be the reason why the marriage was kept away
from public knowledge.

President Muhammadu Buhari has said that the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) will soon publish the names of those who looted Nigeria's coffers.
Buhari made the disclosure today, December 11, 2015, during the 15th session of the Anyiam- Osigwe Foundation lecture at the International Conference Centre in Abuja, The Cable reports. "As I stated recently, a good number of people who abused their positions are voluntarily returning the illicit funds," the president said.
"I have heard it said that we should disclose the names of the people, and the amount returned. Yes, in due course, the Central Bank of Nigeria will make information available to the public on the surrendered funds, but I must remark that it is yet early days, and any disclosure now may jeopardize the possibility of bigger recoveries.

"But we owe Nigerians adequate information, and it shall come in due course. It is part of the collective effort to change our land from the bastion of corruption it currently is, to a place of probity and transparency. Quite frankly, the anti- corruption war is not strictly about me as a person, it is about building a country where our children, and the forthcoming generations, can live in peace and prosperity.

"When you see dilapidated infrastructure round the country, it is often the consequence of corruption. Poor healthcare, collapsed education, lack of public utilities, decayed social services, are all products of corruption, as those entrusted with public resources put them in their private pockets. That must stop, if we want a new Nigeria.
"And that was why I said at another forum that people need not fear me, but they must fear the consequences of their actions. "Corrupt acts will always be punished, and there will be no friend, no foe. We will strive to do what is fair and just at all times, but people who refuse to embrace probity should have every cause to fear," he added.
Buhari had revealed, during an interactive session with members of the Nigerian community in the Islamic Republic of Iran on November 24, that some looters had started returning money stolen by them but that his government would not stop until it had recovered every single cent.

Former Leader of Niger Delta militant group MEND, Asari Dokubo has asked the Buhari led government to hands off the state governorship election or risk the whole country going up in flames.
In a statement he released today December 7th, Asari accused the Federal government of trying to rig the state governorship election to install APC governorship candidate Timpreye Sylva, an action he described as against the will of the people. He stated that any action in this direction will lead to a crisis that will make Boko Haram be described as a child's play.


"If by next week the Federal Government does not hands off from the Bayelsa polls by allowing the people to freely choose their leader but still interfering through the observed various guises and deception, then we would have no option than to return to the creeks to press for our rights as patriotic citizens being unduly oppressed and dehumanized all in the name of politics. We have said it before that President Buhari is executing an anti-Ijaw agenda and his aim is to steal our God-given resources to rebuild the north destroyed by Boko Haram. That is why he is hell-bent on manipulating the electoral process in Bayelsa State and hand it over to the APC. They are exploiting Sylva’s greed and desperation for power and therefore using him to carry out their evil agenda. But we want them to know that this country will go up in flames if they try it. Boko Haram will be a child’s play if President Buhari and his APC think they can upturn the people’s mandate. It would be a grave injustice which can never stand. We are Ijaw people and we have never been conquered”.

Aari stated that results collated and announced so far by INEC have shown that the incumbent governor and PDP’s candidate, Governor Seriake Dickson, had won 6 of the 7 local governments with a margin of 33,154 votes and has thus fulfilled constitutional requirement of 2/3 spread and popular votes.
INEC had earlier this week canceled the election in Southern Ijaw local government area and declared the governorship election inconclusive.

BEVERLY HILLS, December 09, (THEWILL) – Out of 20 emerging and developed economies in the world, Nigeria has been ranked as the 10th biggest exporter of Illicit Financial Flows, IFF, between 2004 and 2013.

The country ranked after South Africa in a study conducted by the Global Financial Integrity, GFI.

Disclosing this in a statement issued in Lagos on Wednesday by its Media Contact, Ms Christine Clough, GFI noted that China came first with 139.2 billion dollars outflow, followed by Russia (about 105 billion dollars), Mexico came third with 52.8 billion dollars, while Poland came last with nine billion dollars outflow.

The report, which pointed out that within the period under review emerging economies cumulatively exported 1.1 trillion dollars (about N217 trillion), noted that Nigeria alone exported 17.8 billion dollars about (N3.5 trillion), while South Africa exported 20.9 billion dollars during the same time belt.

GFI is a Washington DC-based research and advisory organisation working to curtail illicit financial flows across the globe. The statement issued by its Media Contact noted that the report entitled: “Illicit Financial Flows from Developing Countries: 2004-2013,″ revealed that the 2013 IFF was higher than one trillion dollars obtained in 2011 by 100 billion dollars.

It added that the figure marked a dramatic increase from 2004, when illicit outflows totaled just 465.3 billion dollars (N9.2 trillion) “This study clearly demonstrates that illicit financial flows are the most damaging economic problems faced by the world’s developing and emerging economies.

“This year at the UN, the mantra of ‘trillions not billions’ was continuously used to indicate the amount of funds needed to reach the Sustainable Development Goals.

“Significantly, curtailing illicit flows is central to that effort,’’ the GFI President, Mr. Raymond Baker was quoted as saying in the statement.

The report was release on December 9 to coincide with the International Anti- Corruption Day, same day the United Nations Secretary-General; Mr. Ban Ki-Moon, called on world leaders to redouble efforts at fighting all forms of corruption in their countries.

Embattled Radio Biafra director, Nnamdi Kanu, has cried out to an Abuja court asking Justice Adeniyi Ademola to grant him bail as he is dying in detention.

Nnamdi Kanu raising his hands in support to his supporters during his last appearance in Abuja Court At the Federal High Court in Abuja, Director of Radio Biafra, Nnamdi Kanu, has asked Justice Adeniyi Ademola, to set aside an ex-parte order procured by the Department of State Services (DSS) to keep him in detention, and also grant him bail.

Kanu’s counsel, Vincent Obetta, urged the court to grant him three reliefs. One of the reliefs was that the court admit his client to bail, and that it should strike out the charge of terrorism against him.

According to TheCable, the DSS had procured an ex parte order from the federal high court granting it permission to hold the director of Radio Biafra for 90 days.
This was after a chief magistrate court in Abuja granted him bail. Obetta argued that Kanu had perfected his bail conditions as of October 21, six days after he was arraigned, but the DSS refused to release him. He, therefore, asked the court to set aside the order granting the DSS permission to keep Kanu in detention for 90 days, and grant him bail.

The counsel also pointed out that the DSS flouted the order of the magistrate court and ‘abused court process’ by running to the high court to procure an order to keep his client in detention.

Meanwhile, the DSS counsel, M. U. Ndakwo, was unable to respond to Obetta’s argument as Ademola, the judge, called for an adjournment.

The case was then adjourned to December 14.

For those of us who have followed Nigeria’s politics
from 1999 till date, it is interesting to see how PDP and
it’s new status of opposition is playing out.

Out of frustration, the opposition party on Sunday declared
its defeated candidate, Governor Idris Wada as the winner
of the governorship election in Kogi State.

According to the PDP, Governor Wada scored 201,877
votes against APC Yahaya Bello’s 6,885 votes at the
supplementary election.

The PDP said Wada had more votes than Bello and
therefore is the elected governor.

The election which INEC declared inconclusive on
November 21 even when it was obvious that APC and it’s
candidate, late Abubakar Audu had won, finally came to
the same expected end at the weekend, with voting in 91
polling units across 18 local government areas.

It was won by Bello of the APC. Bello was named the
party’s candidate following the November 22 death of its
former candidate Prince Audu, who looked good to unseat
Wada after polling 240,876 votes.
But the PDP’s National Publicity Secretary, Olisa Metuh,
described Bello’s declaration as winner of the poll by the
electoral umpire as “a waste of time” that will not stand.
According to the PDP, INEC’s declaration of Bello as
winner amounted to a “waste of time, a waste of scarce
national resources and ridiculous shadow-chasing”. It
insisted that Bello did not participate in the entire election
and as such, could not be declared the winner.

To the PDP, “INEC declared Bello winner just to satisfy
President Muhammadu Buhari and the APC. INEC has
made a mockery of itself and the entire electoral process”.

By the PDP’s reckoning, Bello scored only 6,885 votes in
the supplementary election, against Wada’s 204,877 votes
in the overall election.

Anyway, PDP will have to go to court to prove their special
mathematics formula.
