Ok now ! For those hating on my humble sef simply coz I called Xiaomi mid-range brand . Let's put this our sentiments aside, would you call it Premium ? Ogini, kilode ? Talk true for just once in your life time Biko. I am on this page simply coz I wanna change my device as I usually does yearly, but when I kept reading Gcam up and down , shey na crime to ask why ? I am a tech specialist, but I strictly frown against tweaking device, imo: that's the only way I get to know a device is cool , yes indulge me to use the word Premium! My current device is still in Mint state , with this customer bruhaha and Gcam and bla bla I dey read . I had to conclude that I am holding on for now.

please ehn, just check online for the top benchmarked devices. Then come back and tell me if xiaomi is still a midrange brand. Hope you realise that they have a whole lot of other products. Just because their products are cheap compared to others doesn't mean they're not quality. Does a product have to be expensive before it is classified as toprange

1, although gcam boosts the image quality of xiaomi phones, that doesn't mean the phones stock camera don't take high quality pictures. We human beings are insatiable, hence, the need for people to want to push their device to the limit once they know it can be done.

I had to go through the process of of waiting for days to unlock my xiaomi bootloader just to flash the gcam and frankly speaking, I have never used the gcam app to take pictures even though the quality of the gcam pix is higher, this is because I'm perfectly satisfied with the quality of the stock camera and see no reason to have a sharper image quality.


As for the guy who said his phone went bad after update, nobody knows the circumstances that led to the issue except him. Also it will be absurd to expect that all items made by xiaomi will never go bad or have one or 2 defect per batch of production. What we are saying here is that xiaomi phones are less problematic when compared with brands like tecno, infinix, gionee, and that's a fact.

My max 2 is the first snapdragon phone I have mainly used, and it's the first phone that has lasted over a year without visiting the repairers despite the heavy usage and several fall.

This Gcam porting of a thing is popular amongst people using midrange xiaomi phones that are not satisfied with the stock camera app output. Gcam enhances that.

My reason for not getting the brand yet , coz what's the need when I can't confidently rely on the follow come camera app. Lenovo, Huawei and the likes are using their camera without the headache of having to root their device to use Gcam . Common Tecno sef are cool with their cam .
I'm sorry but truth is , all these post about rn this and that looks like a brainwash and hype then.

But wait o, why must you install Gcam, does it mean the follow come camera app isn't cool for taking pictures ? Just curious. Samsung and other phone users are not talking Gcam before taking good pictures.

Xiaomi has finally released the list of smartphones eligible for Android Pie/Oreo update, these devices are supposed to get Android Pie/Oreo update before the end of this year. Xiaomi has mentioned that the smartphones which have already received two major Android updates are unlikely to receive further Android updates. The list of smartphones eligible to receive Android update includes both Mi and Redmi range of smartphones.
