How does bringing Sanusi add value to the life of an average Kano indigenes ? Kano is currently under tension because the governor's decision is unpopular with the people. Do you know the respect the Bayero family has in Kano ? Hope he wont come and disturb Tinubu when it snowballs out of hand and turns to full blown riots.

This gov embarked on irrelevant issues. Did the people complain to him that they don't want Bayero and others? Why is he going against the peoples wishes. This gov wanted Sanusi but the people wanted Bayero. Why can't he do the peoples wishes and allow the sleeping dogs to lie. Displaced priorities. How many roads, schools, hospitals has he built for the people since he got there instead of Emirship tussle. At the rate he is going his performance will be worse than Obis that didn't build one school in 8 years.

If the then Governor, Ganduje had the constitutional power to dethrone Sanusi, why is the federal government trying to stop the current Governor from executing the same constitutional privilege to dethrone Bayero and reinstall Sanusi?

The government is using Ribadu and the office of the NSA to stir the hornets nest. If Kano boils over, it will spread like wild fire.

I will advise the current Governor to be careful, lest he falls into the trap Ribadu and Ganduje are playing at. If Kano boils over, they will declare a state of emergency and relegated the current Governor to the side with no influence.

Aside Ganduje's politics of bitterness, there was no justification for removing Sanusi in the first place! So, governor Yusuf was right in restoring him back to his throne.

Any other REASONABLE governor would have done same.

There is an heavy security presence at Government House in Kano amidst Kano Emirship power tussle.

Security personnel manned crucial locations, but they did not limit passage in and out of the site.

Our correspondent gathered that the governor's Chief Security Officer was noticeably concerned as he went about, reluctant to comment.

Top security operatives who earlier met with the 15th Emir of Kano, Alhaji Aminu Ado Bayero, are currently inside the government house holding another meeting.

Meanwhile, Governor Abba Yusuf who accompanied Emir Muhammadu Sanusi to the palace earlier on Saturday is still there.

Daily Trust correspondent saw his convoy inside the palace some moments ago.

Yusuf had earlier asked the police to arrest Ado Bayero for “creating tension”, but the police vowed to obey the court order against Sanusi’s reinstatement.

A Federal High Court in Kano on Thursday issued an ex-parte order restraining Governor Abba Yusuf from reinstating Emir Muhammadu Sanusi II.

Justice Mohammed Liman who gave the order also halted the implementation of the new law that abolished the four emirates of Bichi, Gaya, Karaye, and Rano.

But while issuing a reappointment letter to Sanusi on Friday, Governor Abba Yusuf faulted the order, saying the judge issued it from the United States.

Emir Sanusi later led Jumat prayers at Government House before moving to the palace.

But few hours after Sanusi entered the palace, Ado Bayero arrived the state and settled into a mini-palace.

He was later given military protection.

Comrade Aminu Abdussalam Gwarzo, Deputy Governor of Kano, had accused the National Security Adviser, Mallam Nuhu Ribadu, of facilitating the return of the dethroned Emir.

Gwarzo, in a short video interview at Emir’s palace in Gidan Rumfa, where Alhaji Muhammadu Sanusi, is holding forth, alleged that the NSA released two jets to bring Ado Bayero to Kano

He had said, “The National Security Adviser gave two jets to bring the dethroned emir to Kano and to bring him to the place. We don’t understood their intention.”

So, on June 8, 2014, Emir Sanusi ll became the Emir of Kano - after Jonathan “suspended” him from the CBN. Al-Haji  Ado Bayero had d!ed and he was considered a worthy heir to the revered throne.

The governor of Kano at that time was Kwankwaso. He was a strong ally of Sanusi. Sanusi fell out with President Goodluck Jonathan and fought against his second term bid. Kwankwaso and other northern PDP chieftains were very vocal and audaciously worked against Jonathan too.

So, Kwankwaso and Sanusi shared the same political views and ideologies hence, they were tied to the same “political movement” - it was easy to make Sanusi the Emir.

Sanusi ruled until March 2020, when he was dethroned by Fmr. Gov Ganduje.

[b][/b]WHY WAS HE DETHRONED

Ganduje, who served as Deputy Governor to Kwankwaso in his two tenures, fell out with his former boss. This stirred serious tensions and strains among the political elites in Kano state. Emir Sanusi took sides with Kwankwaso. This triggered Ganduje.

Sanusi, who’s known to be vociferous and fierce in criticism of anyone or govt he’s not in support of, waged war-of-words against Ganduje. He criticized his policies, and of course, the obvious kleptomaniac (corrupt) system Ganduje operated.

The last straw that broke the camel’s back was the defiant f!ght Sanusi put up to deny Ganduje access to a $1.8 billion loan he requested.
Ganduje had had enough and he was bent on striking back.
So, on March 8th, 2020, he arranged for a meeting with Kano Emirates and there, he dethroned Sanusi. His reasons were very laughable, of course.

He said, Sanusi showed “total disrespect to lawful instructions from the office of the governor.” He then added, “the removal was reached in order to safeguard the sanctity, culture, tradition, religion and prestige of the Kano Emirate built over a thousand years.”

Ganduje didn’t tell the public what “lawful instructions from the office of the governor” that Sanusi “disrespected.”

To ensure that his move of removing Sanusi stood, Ganduje hurriedly put up a bill, sent it to the State House of Assembly and signed it into law. The Bill further disbanded the Kano Emirate into 5 different parts - Kano, Rano, Gaya, Karaye and Bichi. He appointed Emirs for each location - of course, they all were his loyalists
Done and dusted, Sanusi is deposed and out of the way! He doesn’t have any more authority to speak. Ganduje is now free from his scrutiny and intense attacks.

Now, Abba Kabir Yusuf has taken over as the governor of Kano, from Ganduje. He’s a student of the Kwankwasiya political movement and a political en£my of Ganduje. He almost lost his governorship position to Ganduje’s stooge a legal battle, after the election.

It’s no brained that he’d move to reverse most or all politically-motivated decisions and policies of Ganduje - one of which is to install or reinstall loyalists or members from his political base - which Emir Sanusi is part of.

So, he colludes with the Kano State House of Assembly to abolish the 2019 law Ganduje signed, balkanizing the Kano Emirate into 5.

With the law now abolished, the 5 Emirates have been shut down leaving, the 5 Emirs sacked, leaving only ONE - which is Emir Sanusi.

So, this has to do with political permutations, battles, and power tussle. It’s simply the governors (political actors) using the traditional institutions to play “pin pon” (as they wish) and exact their political influence during tenure - it’s not about good governance or the people of Kano.

No clear difference between this and what Fubara and Wike are doing in Rivers state.

I don't think so o. There is no way the governor could have done this without Tinubu support . It only shows that Tinubu has chosen to dump ganduje and to go with other powerful ppl and groups within APC. Kwankwaso will work for Tinubu with the way things are going . Tinubu has given him a state and supported this. I won't be surprised if we have a repeat of 2023 In 2027. The worst that will happen is Kwankwaso party winning Kano , this scenario works well for APC as long as PDP and labour party doesn't win kano
