1.All those countries you mentioned have one thing in common...diversiifed, export manufactured goods and services, economies. Nigeria is an oil dependent economy, with 80% of government revenue comming from oil. And with oil prices being so bad to our bottomline over the years, we can't fund subsides like all those other countries. Let's not even start with the fact that at full production, the revenue is not enough for 200 million people, even if we cut curruption (AND WE SHOULD...).

Taxes pay for subsides. IN Nigeria, over 70% of nigerians do not pay tax to the government. Income tax i mean.

Plus, like I told you, we don't even have the cash to subsidse fuel, and even the one we are doing now is creating a deficit in our budget. Remember the auditing of the ways and means budget from day before yesterday? A large chunk of that went to pay for subsides, because of the resulting deficit brought in

Plus the same problems and issues with subsidy...smuggling, corruption and stealing ....happen in countries like LIbya, Iran, Angola and Venezuela. They are not run by NIgerians. I have already mentioned subsides in developed countries too are prone to corruption.

I said no cash...right now, we are using over 90% of available income to pay for debts, and our effective forex reserve according to JP Morgan is less than 4 billion dollars...so how would we pay subsidy. Something buhari was borrowing to pay for in the last 3 years of his regime, if not more?





RIght now we are spending over a trillion naira every month to keep fuel at N700 and below. Assuming we reversed it back to N200 , subsidy costs could reach 2 trillion naira per annum. That is 24 trillion...and that means our entire budget for the year...which we are already having difficulty financing, could be eaten by subsidy .

ANd the annoying thing is that when I point it out, I am called tinubu supporter. Abeg, since when did telling the truth about our economy mean you are an oppressor. It is not that I like having subsidy removed, it is we are in no effing position to maintain it,


Unless we change our economy to be diversified, exporting manufactured stuff, and taxing more and more of our GDP.

snatching food and survival from the poor is not the best approach to solving our drop in earning problems. The high loan portfolio is also as a result of corruption, tell me, what were the loans used for? Much of it were stolen too.

The Government should look more at reducing cost of governance and wasteful spending by politicians, until that is done, any measure put in place to make the masses suffer more will be resisted.

Subsidy is not bad, ours failed because we allow corruption in it. Britain subsidizes food and others for their citizens, The US and Canada does same. China and Russia does too. ours failed because people were submitting quotes for subsidy payment even when they didn't bring in any product.

It was the duty of the government to check mate this and sanitize the system but unfortunately, it is same people in government that were involved. Till date our oil is stolen, millions of barrels daily, who are those stealing it, they are people connected to government, that's why no one is arrested or prosecuted. Banditry and kidnapping thrives too because those involved are connected to those in Government

So the government removing subsidy just because we are paying so much for it is like cutting your nose to spite your face. It is like denying your children food just because someone is stealing from your provisions for them. The best approach is to catch and stop the thief not denying your children food.

The problem is that Nigerians are wicked people, Buhari, Abacha, Babangida, Tinubu, Gowon and the rest are Nigerians. They are not British.
