What sort of training do Auxiliary Nurses get? Why does the Matron or Chief Nurse not limit their duties and hand over proper nursing duties to trained Nurses, so that auxiliary nurses can focus on basics?

It's good that you're bringing this up and defending your names and your Nursing Institutions. Last year I met a nurse who continually injected me on one site till I bled and it hurt my leg (she also did my charts wrong). Another nurse had to stop her because there was no medical need for her to inject on that one site. I have no idea if she was an auxiliary nurse or not, I merely assumed she was a badly trained Naija nurse and lumped all of you together.

So now that you are speaking up, what can the medical council do and what can regular Nigerians do? How do we help.

By their fruits u shall know em,dey can't speak good english,dress shabilly n most of all,If u ask em d reason y dey r carrying out a particular procedure,dey won't be able to tell..d only way u can help is by going to good hospitals not clinics or maternity homes,its bou ur health

Its a tremendous effort I agree,for d president n some governors to slash their salaries n allowances,kudos to em. Wia I want action to be taken is dis NASS pple dat are just after dia own welfare,dey don't understand d meaning of sacrifice..dey shud also slash theirs too by 50percent,den I'll know we r really into change

Are u saying this just to keep them off your (original, certified nurses) jobs. because those private hospices don't pay high wages to you certified nurses no longer?

my anger is y shud quacks keep making mistakes and den pple blame it on nurses generally,not knowing dat their r wrong pple out dia,its not about d job,its about d lives of pple n our name...it is a proffesion dat one ougth to be qualified for bfor practising,just like oder professions,y shud nursing be different. U ask me for examples,I've seen someone brut to wia I practised with paralysis of d lowerlimb just because a quack injected into d sciatic nerve,there r somany examples n u know it..its bou change n making pple pay for their criminal acts

I think what OP is saying is that Auxillary Nursing staffs are not properly trained. She is trying to say that these people are employed in place of Regular nurses because hospitals don't want to pay proper wages to actual trained nurses.

This is not a small Issue. I am personally appalled that the government hasn't set proper regulations in the health sector. Why Risking the lives of Nigerians with nurses who aren't trained?
We have a long way to go.

Am so angered dat a so called proffessional body like d Nursing am midwifery council of Nigeria,wud sit their dumb asses,fold their hands and watch as dis quack nurses,destroy our own proffesional body,Nursing..its so sad dat Drs who hv maternity homes n clinics hv opted to employ cleaners and attendants and den train dem as quacks(Auxillary),just because dey can't pay a qualified nurse thereby putting the lives of many Nigerians at risk,all in d name of saving cost,these pple are not nurses,dey r quacks,dat is y all dey do is mechanical not scientific..am crying out to enligthened pple outdia to help save our humble proffesion n lives of innocent Nigerians who don't know d difference between quack(auxillary nurses) and professional nurses..NMCN is all about money n don't care about wat is going on in dis profession...in dis period of change I call on govt to look into dis private clinics dat train quacks and arrest dem,cos dey hv caused d death of so many especially,in d aspect of maternal and childhealth..say no to quacks..say no to auxillary nurses ...
