I love anything that has to with community service. Which is a selfless service and a service to humanity.

this is commendable

We need to continue promoting environmental health avereness and also encourage people on community service.

Instead of just abusing politicians behind keyboard...it's better to start with the little we have the capacity to do.

Health / Re: Police Arrest Five Over Coronavirus Hoax In Abuja by luckier9(m): 11:01pm On Feb 02, 2020
*Journalism is no crime, FCT Minister, Police should retract stance on arrested TheNigerian News staff*

Five staff of TheNigerian News Group working in one of the platforms, Television Nigerian, Pricilla Ajeshola, Jacob Orji, Abayomi Adedoyin, Peggy Shande and David Gold Enemingin were on Friday arrested, detained and paraded by the FCT Police Command on Saturday, on the instruction of the Honourable Minister of the Federal Capital Territory as persons attempting to cause panic in the nation’s capital.

These innocent citizens were illegally arrested around the Wuse District Hospital, where they were gathering materials for a special report on Lassa fever and Coronavirus.

We made every attempt to persuade the police who saw reasons for amicable resolution of this with the affected authorities.
Unfortunately, the Honourable Minister blatantly refused to yield to reason as his staff insisted on parading these patriotic citizens like common criminals.

This repressive attack on the media was ostensibly an attempt to suppress facts as to the FCT administration's handling of the outbreak of Lassa fever and Coronavirus that have put the world and citizens all over the country on alert.

The decision of those behind this humiliating episode to go this route of repression and maligning of the journalists is most unfortunate since TheNigerian News is not in the practice of undermining the country, our strict consideration of national interest is a cardinal principle for our organisation and staff all over the world. A visit to our websites and social media handles will present all these facts. If these overzealous agents ever cared to check the facts before embarking on this shameless acts against our staff they would have been convinced otherwise.

If the authorities had issues with the mode the journalists went about gathering materials for their report, the logical thing to do was to correct them as opposed to taking the repressive measures that now strongly suggest that residents of Abuja are being lied to in the territory's status in relation to the Lassa fever outbreak or even the deadly CoronaVirus.

Contrary to what the FCT Minister or any other person wants to say, TheNigerian News in its three years of existence has only promoted the image and reputation of our country and never involved itself in spreading falsehood.

We demand that the FCT administration immediately retract its stand on our arrested staff because they are journalists who were going about their duty to sensitize the general public about the Lassa fever epidemic across the country.

As a law abiding organization populated by responsible citizens, we will consult widely and take all necessary actions in line with our company policy and vision statement. We urge our readers and viewers to remain calm and not be dissuaded by this unwarranted provocation aimed at making us drop our pro-Nigeria stance.

The launch of our radio as earlier announced will still take place on the set date.

Politics / Why Fayemi, El-rufai Are Attending WEF Despite Fg’s Boycott – Onyeama by luckier9(m): 2:51pm On Sep 05, 2019
The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Geoffrey Onyeama, on Thursday, said that governors already attending the World Economic Forum (WEF) in South Africa is not an affront to the decision of the Federal Government of Nigeria.

According to him, those governors and other individuals were already in South Africa before a decision was reached for Vice President Yemi Osinbajo to boycott the WEF due to xenophobic attacks in South Africa.

Briefing State House correspondents in Abuja, he also pointed out that the WEF is an international function, which was not organized by South Africa.“The forum started a long time ago and the governors were already there before our decision was taken”, he said.

According to him, Nigeria only stated a position that its top officials would not be in Capetown to register its protest against the xenophobic attacks.

Some of the Nigerian governors who have gone ahead to attend the World Economic Forum included the Chairman of the Nigerian Governors Forum, and Ekiti State Governor, Dr Kayode Fayemi, and Nasir El-Rufai of Kaduna State.

Other Nigerians participating at the forum include a former Minister of Education, Obiageli Ezekwesili.

Politics / NLC Berates IPOB For Incessant Attack On Ohanaeze Leader by luckier9(m): 2:34pm On Sep 05, 2019
The Nigeria Labour Congress, Enugu State Chapter, has condemned the incessant attacks on the President General of Ohanaeze Ndigbo, Chief John Nnia Nwodo, by the Indigenous Peoples of Biafra (IPOB).

Speaking when the leadership of the NLC paid a solidarity visit to Nwodo in his house, its State Chairman, Comrade Virginus Nwobodo, said that it was unfortunate that rather than pour accolades on Nwodo whom he described as a solid and progressive leader whose type he said Ohanaeze Ndigbo has never had, IPOB was insulting such a revered leader.

The NLC said they rose to “condemn unequivocally the venomous outburst, insults, boundless vituperative attacks on one of the great leaders of Igbo nation”.

They described Nwodo as an “erudite, courageous, eloquent and well respected son” of Igbo land and described those attacking him as “suffering from delusion of grandiosity”.

The NLC said Nwodo must have denied himself certain comforts and positions in the government of the country just to achieve justice and serve humanity.

The NLC decried any situation that could lead to another war and urged IPOB to embrace peace that can lead to a referendum/restructuring.

Politics / Rivers Apc Next Steps. by luckier9(m): 3:35pm On Jan 08, 2019
READ*

I urge all Rivers State APC Candidates and Members to go about their campaigns and consultations as APC will field all their candidates in the forth coming elections.

SEE THE LEGAL POSITION AS PRONOUNCED BY THE SUPREME COURT.

The legal position in this respect before now is that any person whose candidacy is first forwarded by the party to INEC can be substituted by the party if a cogent and verifiable reason is given, but in the present Electoral Act, unless the person withdraws by himself or dies, as provided for in section 35, 36 of the 2010 Electoral Act, there can’t be any substitution.

The supreme court in the case of EHINLAWO v OKE 2008, 16 N.W.L.R PART 113 at page 357, delivered by Onnoghen JSC, held thus at ratio 3;

“The nomination by a political party may be by way of primary election, selection appointment etc or a combination of the above. Whatever the method adopted, the law is that nomination of a candidate to be sponsored by a political party remains within the absolute jurisdiction of the political parties”.

The apex court also went further to hold that,

“The courts do not interfere in the affairs of political parties and matters raising political questions as to how a political party should be run or who should be its candidate at an election is strictly a matter within the exclusive jurisdiction of the political parties and the courts lack jurisdiction to interfere. Thus, a political party has the unfettered right to nominate or sponsor a candidate it likes for any election and the courts have no jurisdiction to inquire into the issue”

At ratio 4, the judgment of Ehinlawo v Oke, the court further held that

“The court will not normally interfere with how a political party arrives at its list of candidates forwarded to the Independent National Electoral Commission.”

Onnoghen JSC also held in ratio 4

“that a political party is not bound to submit the name of a candidate who emerges the winner of the primaries conducted by it in its list of candidates.”

The court also held that it does not matter who wins the primary election of any political party that what is paramount is any person whose name is sent to INEC becomes the candidate of the party.

This is in line with the court decision in AKPAN v BOB EFFIONG, AS(2010) 4-7 SC (PT.II) at page 57. The position of the law is that any person whose name is sent to INEC cannot be substituted even if the person did not win the earlier primaries conducted by the party.

I submit from the above that a party reserves the right to send names of its candidates to INEC after having looked into all the complaints made by the aggrieved individuals, and the decision of the party to sponsor any candidate cannot be inquired into as how the candidates’ name made the list. The above position was enunciated in the case of EHINLAWO v OKE.

Finally, the position of the law is that the court will not interfere with how a political party arrives at its list of candidates forwarded to INEC as the chosen candidates to contest election. The political party could take a number of factors into consideration in arriving at the final list of its candidates to be sent to INEC. Failure to act on the result of the primaries therefore does not invalidate the list sent to INEC or make it enforceable in court.

It is still the prerogative of the party to send the name of any candidate it wishes to INEC to represent it in an election.

Romance / Husband Scarcity by luckier9(m): 8:59pm On Jun 04, 2018
HUSBAND SCARCITY!!!
by Maryam Habu shinga

HUSBAND !!!
This may not be the best time for me to write on this because of misinterpretations, but I can no longer resist the push. "Husband Scarcity" has become one of the challenges faced by many young girls today. If you go to prayer houses, majority of the intentions are prayer for a life partner. And this calls for concern. Casting our minds back to the time of our mothers and grandmothers, was there really much of a "Husband Scarcity" problem? Or, maybe there were more men than women then, or there was an adequate corresponding numbers of both genders. I don't think so. Maybe then, the women had values and were prepared to build a home and not park into a built home. Then, once a young man comes of age and can at least feed himself and his wife, he goes out in search of a wife and the woman really appreciates him and helps him to build a future. What am I really trying to say? We created what we now see as "Husband Scarcity" for ourselves. Today, the reverse is the case. Ask an average girl to define her dream husband; you get things like "he has to be tall, handsome, fair, and rich, own a house at least, and be presentable" and then she adds "God fearing" in order not to sound so worldly. Then, check the number of girls around you and the number of men that meet that standard, and you will see the problem. You hear girls say, "I cannot suffer in my father's house and then go and start suffering with a man." What a wonderful dream! What if from the beginning, you have everything you want and there is no suffering, and later in the marriage, the table turns around, then comes suffering? Will you run away? No one prays for suffering, but it is good to start small and end big, than start big and end small. The problem is that the description majority of girls give of their ideal man is virtually the same. When 50 girls want the same kind of man and the man that fits what they want is just 1 man, and the man can only pick one. Then, what becomes of 49 others? They simply start lamenting of "Husband Scarcity". Another irony of our time is that it is hard, due to the face of our economy to find a man who is of marriage age who possesses all those things these ladies want, legally (except those involved in Internet fraud); even the number of those in Internet fraud is not enough to match all those searching for already made husbands. If you look around, majority of the ladies of substance, of good value and virtue, who are ready to build a home with a man who has prospects, are married and not complaining of husband scarcity. The easiest way to find a husband now, is to change your view of who a husband is. A husband is that man God made and then saw that it may be hard for him to really actualize his purpose for making him, without a help mate and then made the woman and gave to him, and he felt complete and fulfilled MARRIAGE IS NOT A POVERTY ALLEVIATION PROGRAM. It is a mission of building the family of God here on earth. For those who see marriage as a way out of poverty, it is a way into bondage. Women are HOME BUILDERS, not HOME WARMERS... DON'T CONFUSE A MAN'S PATH WITH HIS DESTINY. Where he is today, may only be a route to where God has destined him to be tomorrow. Another truth is that YOU MAY BE THE ONLY FAST MEANS TO THAT HIS DESTINATION. Join in alleviating "husband scarcity". PICK UP THE RIGHT VALUES. I am not saying that you should pick anyone that comes your way and talks of marriage, not all men are husband materials. What I am saying is that you should stop setting your standard on material acquisitions or physical appearances. Look beyond the physical. WHAT MAKES A MAN WHO HE IS, IS NOT WHAT HE OWNS OR HOW HE LOOKS, IT IS WHAT HE IS MADE UP OF. And that which he is made of is, most times, not seen with the physical eyes, only its effects can be seen. Marriage is a permanent thing. Whatever is seen is temporal and that which is not seen is permanent.

This post is worth sharing, let it go as far as it can.
Politics / Court Disappoints Wike Today by luckier9(m): 10:33pm On May 24, 2018
The Supreme Court of Nigeria, in a sitting that lasted barely five minutes this morning, in Abuja, adjourned the matter brought before it by Rivers State Govenor, Mr. Nyesom Wike, whether elected local government chairmen he sacked from office are entitled to be joined in the matter instituted by the All Progressives Congress, APC, challenging the governor’s action.

The matter was adjourned until December 18, 2018.

The court had resolved that the Department of State Security, DSS, being the 17th Respondent in the matter, be properly served by Wike.

One of the lawyers to the elected chairmen, Barr. Emenike Ebete, who spoke to The Neighbourhood from the Supreme Court, summed the decision of the apex court to mean that until the matter was determined, any further action, including holding of the June 16 local government election, taken by Gov. Wike, would be both sub judice and a nullity. “The appellant did not serve one of the parties. If any of the party has not been served, the matter can not go on.”

The counsel gave an insight into the legal implication.

“The matter is still before the court; still pending. And since the matter is still pending, they ought to respect the processes before the court. It does not lie in their own mouth to begin to calculate when the tenure (of the elected chairmen) elapsed because the Federal High Court had said that it had nullified the election. To them that meant there was no election in the first place. So, if there was no election in the first place, how do you then ascribe tenure to something that had never been? So, it is the court that will determine whether there was an election, and if there was an election, when their tenure will run in the light of the nullification done by the court. Will it begin to run when they were sworn-in or from the day the court said it was a nullity? It is for the court to determine. Not even the Supreme Court, but the Court of Appeal. So, if they sit in their bedroom and begin to calculate (the tenure of the elected chairmen), that amounts to calculating when a man yet to be born would die. So, they can do what they want to do in their lawlessness but we still have the law here. It is for the court to tell us what should be done. Not them.”

One of the affected chairmen, Reginald Ukwuoma, himself a lawyer, explained to The Neighbourhood that Wike had prayed for the exclusion of the DSS, a prayer the court declined in the manner it was presented. Ukwuoma gave further explanation of what transpired in court today.

“The subject matter is the same thing they want to conduct. So, by every legal implication the matter will be sub judice. The matter is pending and if they go ahead to do election contrary to the position of the law, it is a nullity. And today the matter has been adjourned to the eighteenth of December for them to serve the Seventeenth Respodent which is the Director of SSS. And they had wanted to discontinue with (them) since they couldn’t serve them but the court said no they couldn’t discontinue in that form. The court told them that they couldn’t just cross their name by a line. That they must do that formally.

“The implication in Law is very, very clear that if a subject matter has not been disposed off you cant’t tamper with it in any form. It is elementary (in Law). But we know we are living in a state of anarchy where lawlessness prevails and the governor of the state is not given to rule of law.”

While the elected but sacked chairmen are praying to be made necessary parties in the matter, Wike thinks otherwise asking that they have no right to be made joinders. Wike lost his argument in both the High and Appeal Courts, the reason he took it to the apex court.

The matter came up as the first on the list of cases this morning as both parties opened their arguments.

It was gathererd that Gov. Wike had envisaged that the Supreme Court would give its ruling on the matter today. The Neighbourhood could not speak with any of his lawyers after the matter was adjourned despite attempts to do so.

Comrade Celestine AkpoBari, one of the affected, elected chairmen, who was present in the court, told The Neighbourhood that they would return on the 18th of December to continue with the matter. “The Supreme Court adjourned the matter to enable the service to the DSS to be effected. We shall return as adjourned.”

Both sides had their legal counsels present with OCJ Okocha, SAN, Emmanuel Aguma,SAN, Rivers State Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, leading the litany of lawyers on Wike’s side. On the side of the chairmen, ST Hon, SAN, Barr. Emenike Ebete and other lawyers, were in court.

Politics / Wike’s Broadcast Of Lies – Rivers Apc by luckier9(m): 6:28pm On Jan 09, 2018
WIKE’S BROADCAST OF LIES – RIVERS APC

The attention of the Rivers State Chapter of All Progressives Congress, APC, has been drawn to the broadcast by Gov. Nyesom Wike in which all forms of half-truths and sometimes outright lies were pushed into public space.

While some of the lies may be ignored at the moment and dealt with at a later date, however, it is manifestly important to immediately prevent unsuspecting members of the public, critical stakeholders and particularly security agencies from being hoodwinked by a frivolous list of supposed cultists and kidnappers contained in the governor’s broadcast. The truth has come out. Gov. Wike merely compiled names of cult groups opposed to his own gang of killers, names of his hit-men known to have fallen out with him, then some APC members and is asking for their arrests.

Since the broadcast by Gov. Wike, many are still asking a plethora of questions. Why did the governor know those persons as criminals as he claimed and never did anything since he came into office over 2 years ago? Why did he not make the names of those individuals available to security agents for arrest, investigation and prosecution? Why were those names kept until Don Wani was killed before he made them public in less than 48 hours after? Were those names given to him by security agencies? Indeed, how were those names generated; where they generated in Government House Port Harcourt or by the police?

The bravest attempts to answer the aforementioned questions simply confirm the fact that Gov. Wike merely want to muddle up investigations by security agents following the killing of his associate, Don Wani. The governor very well knows that if Don Wani and his boys could be tracked and killed in faraway Enugu, then information from his mobile call logs, text messages, bank accounts, etc. will likely reveal a lot which may incriminate him or his party leaders who freely played host to and/or appeared in photographs with Don Wani at various times in the past.

The APC calls on Rivers people, Nigerians and security agencies to look beyond the names made up of either opponents or his boys that have fallen out with him. Security agents should rely on names independently generated by the various security services over time and clamp down on them accordingly.

Again we ask: if Gov. Wike had names of criminals since he became governor over 2 years ago, why did he have to wait until Don Wani met his waterloo before he made such names public?

Some people expecialy Batch B that will be going to camp in les than two month time from now 'after Passing out of B16 on the 24th october 2017' the best state to choose besed on state payment of alawee aside 19500 of FG.
Here are the list of best states

1. LAGOS *6k state alawee
2. Enugu* 5k state alawee
3. OSUN* 5k
4. Edo* 5kand job space
5. Jos* 5k
6. Abuja* No state alawe but free choice of PPA
7. Abia* 5k
8. Akwaibom* 5k
9. Delta* 5k but pay in bounk after your servics before you can take it.
10. Gigawa. 5k.

After my research in this month of september, i was able to carry it out. But it dosn't means that other state don not pay. Some pay below 4k is only Rivers state that don't pay at all since 2016. You can make your correction because some of the informations are optain from secondary source
