Foreign AffairsMelania Trump's Plagiarized Parts Of Michelle Obama's 2008 Speech by lufemi(op): 7:24am On Jul 19, 2016
Donald Trump's wife gave a speech yesterday and almost repeated word for word the way Michelle Obama gave a speech in 2008.

According to CNN,
"At least one passage in Melania Trump's speech Monday night at the Republican National Convention plagiarized Michelle Obama's speech to the Democratic National Convention in 2008.
Side-by-side comparisons of the transcripts show the text in Trump's address following, nearly to the word, the first lady's own from the first night of the Democratic convention in Denver nearly eight years ago.

The controversy quickly overshadowed the speech, which was to have been her introduction to voters. It focused on her immigration to the US and her love for her husband.
A Republican operative familiar with how the campaign was handling the speeches said a number of senior aides had a role, edited Melania's speech, suggested changes and provided guidance.
The Trump campaign released a statement on the speech after the similarities were uncovered, but the statement did not mention the plagiarism charge.
"In writing her beautiful speech, Melania's team of writers took notes on her life's inspirations, and in some instances included fragments that reflected her own thinking. Melania's immigrant experience and love for America shone through in her speech, which made it such a success," according to Jason Miller, the senior communications adviser.
Earlier in the day, Melania Trump told NBC's Matt Lauer: "I read once over it, that's all, because I wrote it ... with (as) little help as possible."

Here is Trump, on Monday:
"From a young age, my parents impressed on me the values that you work hard for what you want in life, that your word is your bond and you do what you say and keep your promise, that you treat people with respect. They taught and showed me values and morals in their daily lives. That is a lesson that I continue to pass along to our son," Trump said.
And we need to pass those lessons on to the many generations to follow. Because we want our children in this nation to know that the only limit to your achievements is the strength of your dreams and your willingness to work for them."

And here is Obama, on August 25, 2008:
"And Barack and I were raised with so many of the same values: that you work hard for what you want in life; that your word is your bond and you do what you say you're going to do; that you treat people with dignity and respect, even if you don't know them, and even if you don't agree with them.
And Barack and I set out to build lives guided by these values, and to pass them on to the next generation. Because we want our children -- and all children in this nation -- to know that the only limit to the height of your achievements is the reach of your dreams and your willingness to work for them."

OP, I will start by saying that what you are thinking about is not wrong we all want the best things out of life. The only challenge is that the best things don't look like it in their raw forms most times. Gold has to be processes for its beauty to show. Rather than focus on her flaws, focus on her strengths. Grow together in love and you will realize all these things are variables that might come along. The irony is that when she eventually has all the physical attributes you want, it will not even be a concern to you anymore. I wish you the best.
EducationReason For High Fees And Turnout Of First Class Graduates In Private Unis. by lufemi(op): 10:17pm On Apr 10, 2016
The first thing to consider about private unis is that there is obviously no federal or state budget allocations; this means they have to generate funds internally. I will just go straight to the point using CU as my case study;

Source for funds; I know that CU generates everything within the school from student fees. I find it absurd that we can even compare them with federal schools. The first point to note is that the overall school student population is about 7000.

1.Generation of power: Most private school have electricity generated through out the night everyday for halls of residence and for CU includes 24 hours at weekends, of course, for this to be sustainable a lot of power has to be generated for the thousands of laptops plugged, the irons and cooking. Also note that for CU, the departments always have light at any time of the day either the PHCN cooperates or not. There are also internet facilities in all the areas of the school.IT enthusiast will agree that this will be an expensive infrastructure to maintain

2.Construction Projects: The new senate building is valued at 353million naira (http://www.dutumgroup.com/project/senate-building-of-covenant-university/), and in the last two years, CU had about 3 major constructions like such

3.Maintenance and Payment of staffs: All the workers have to be paid. CU is swept daily and every part of the school is included and toilets are also washed on daily basis. For any major event in the school, the hole school will be cleaned before 10am the next morning, you can imagine the manpower. You also can imagine the amount that will be paid to these workers including security men and lecturers. Will all these amount fall from the sky?

Hence, to whom much is given, much is expected. With all these things in place with the fact that the lecturers are mandated to teach and you are examined on what is taught as it is done in every normal setting in the world, there is no reason for hardworking students not to be rewarded. Also, the system is transparent and this makes it easy for you to seek for re-appraisal of your grades.

I would just like to say that the corrosion in the public sector should not be something to celebrate. We all deserve fair operation in the institution. The truth remains that either private unis are hated or loved, they are here to stay and they are getting the job done. So there is really no joy in boasting about how hard it is to get a first class in your uni. Every other part of the world rewards diligence. When it comes down to it,out of 200 first class candidates across 25 universities considered for Presidential Special Scholarship Scheme for Innovation and Development, 9 came from CU which is the highest number from a school and they topped a year before also (http://campusportalng.com/cu/covenant-university-graduates-tops-presidential-scholarship-scheme/16550/#ixzz45STeL3bW).

Call it any name you want, these schools are making progress in their short time of being around. I am sure I missed some other vital points , I just felt issues like this should be addressed.

I added some pictures of Covenant University(CU) below

BusinessBanks And CBN, Have Mercy On Nigerians In Diaspora by lufemi(op): 8:56am On Dec 30, 2015
Just to collect money from ATM here in UK last week, I was charged 402Naira to a pound. I decided to use moneygram so as not to enter debt. I was told that two banks said that they have exceeded their daily limit. I wold the person to go earlier the next day and at 8:10 am, they have again exceeded limit. Worst was today, the person practically opened the bank doors with them and limits was still exceeded. I wonder if people sending this money are spirits or the bank staffs collect money to keep. My business ATM card has been blocked for all international transaction due to CBN policies and to top it all, they are planning to stop Nigerian card usage for ATM from Jan 1st 2016. I have been therefore stranded and cannot get my own money out.

Why all these unnecessary evil when to the masses when the people that will steal the money and transfer over here will be given preferential treatments by these same banks?

BusinessDilemma Of A Young Entrepreneur: What You Should Know, If You Must Start Early by lufemi(op): 4:17pm On Dec 17, 2015
I have been privileged to work with a lot of startups and as I am in one myself. When I birthed the concept of my business in 300 level, I had no idea I would not be Dangote by now; the idea made so much sense and had a lot of financial prospect…idea is one major key, but the door between idea and success is the journey called implementation. I have done a lot of unbelievable projects I mostly don’t talk about and I have been blessed by awesome human resource team. The journey had a lot of sleepless nights, endless plans and I lost a lot of money (A huge part of my first invested seed was stolen and prioritized wrongly).

People always say young people should not be in entrepreneurship, it was not a choice for me, I could not just see myself tied to a routine for the rest of my life; it scares me, and there are too many problems in this life to be solved. I have learnt a lot from it and it has basically directed by thinking pattern and interest in details. I think about product success rate faster and can predict a lot of weak points in businesses because I have had a first-hand experience and has been consulted by majority of my peers in their startup. Probably the most important advantage is that it gives you a sense of focus towards what you really want to do in life.

The challenge for me cannot be under-emphasized

Lack of trust and support: Some days will show you so much success and some will flatly tell you that you are not capable. My first organised event, most friends and a lot of people promised to show up but we were less than 10. I printed a lot of handbills and made expensive posters, I learnt immediately that your idea does not matter to most people you meet until you start making money. My pains were much; I went for a presentation once and a man told me that I should cut my hair as he would not even allow his son to keep such, I have been looked down upon just because I am young, some folks will take undue advantage. A job that is of high quality might be charged for a mediocre amount; I submitted a proposal once and the man was really interested till he saw me physically, then he started misbehaving and dictating. I learnt to decrease physical meetings.

Lack of finance; there was the courage, zeal, passion and all those things motivational speakers talk about but there was simply no money. All these startup investment jingles and chants takes you through a lot of bias and scrutiny majorly because the person that will love your brand will basically need to see it through your lenses, this is most times not achievable till implementation starts. So you are better off using your savings and starting small if not, you may never get an opportunity.

Low network; Again let us even assume you have the vision and the money, who you know matters a lot. You will never land some big projects because someone influential needs to vouch for your competency. Never do a lazy work or shallow business, impress anyone that would pick interest in it.

Uncertainties and risk;
people love to advise! They see a lot of loopholes you overlooked, some will practically talk you out of the idea.

If you must succeed……

Start already! Many people more connected and richer than you are thinking of almost the same thing. Before you know it, you will see your idea on a billboard.

Know your audience, season and location; one of the most important factor is location; I wonder the reason most people sell ice in winter. You don’t need to start pure water business just because others say it is profitable, evaluate your environment if they truly need it. Don’t just start a business, ask if it really solves the need of some specific set of people

Stroke of genius; be creative and dynamic, the world is already filled with mediocrity, Be so good that they cannot ignore you.

Read books; Most people do not even research on what they are starting, you need to learn how businesses operate.

Have a continuous plan;
never stop planning, every next phase is another starting phase!

Learning never stops; do not feel like a boss when you have a little change in your pocket, learn to learn from people and things around you. Ask questions, ask for help if you don’t know it. Do not be arrogant

Be relevant; make sure you are always involved in a continuous process of contributing to others. The business idea is not just about you, it is also about as many people as you can drag along, success cannot be sustained if it is not composite. Not contributing is a real case of eating alone and dying alone.

Patience; I often get anxious sometimes and forget this; you need to be proactive, and you also need to be patient. The truth is money grows on trees but you have to patiently cultivate the tree and consistently nourish it.

I am sure there are more, you are free to add your opinion

BusinessHow to beg to seek help for your business. by lufemi(op): 6:28pm On Nov 15, 2015
I left school for Oshodi once to get components for my mini project and I bought a lot of things; resistors, LEDs, jumper wires and all, it was time to go back to school and I realized I had so little left and also discovered that I brought only one of my ATM cards with me, which happens to be the one without cash. I decided to call someone I did a transaction with in Computer Village in Ikeja to transfer money to my account, it was not even up to 5 minutes when he called back to say the money has been sent. I felt like a boss and foolishly decided to spend all the money I had on me. I took a drink and gala as expected and decided it was time to go back to school. Putting in my card to the ATM, the account was still empty. I was immediately apprehensive and I called my guy to confirm the transaction, he swore he has sent it and I trust him.

Now Oshodi to Ikeja was just ₦50 away and I had ₦20. The pride in me could not beg and I was just staring at the bus as if a miracle would happen. It is getting late now and my pride is giving way to anxiety. I started begging for ₦30.

I thought it would be easy, I started from the bus conductor who abused the daylight out of me, then to the roadside sellers, I even begged to transfer airtime for ₦30 but nobody wants to even give me audience. From saying “please”, they will just say they don’t have money. “That is how they will be using office clothes to beg for money up and down instead of them to work” a woman said in Yoruba.

After tireless and desperate efforts, I just sat there, I could not believe ₦30 “dragged” me like this. I was just looking at the bus as I once was and started thinking of the possibility of walking from Oshodi to Ikeja (as if I am mad!).

Finally, one of the passengers that has seen my hustle pitied me and called me to enter the bus and he would pay. I told him I have ₦20 and would only need ₦30 and the conductor said “See proud begger o, you even still get mouth, enter jare!”. I met myself in Ikeja and went straight to the bank to collect my money with my guy, incidentally the server was down as usual. Not after thanking my saviour in a manner the could almost make God jealous.

I have learnt from my experience several things,

Be smart, think before you act; Spend more time planning than acting, an effective strategy always wins the battle. I should have given my begging a strategy.

Never give full investment to what you are not certain about; I spent all my money without getting to ATM first, that was not smart. Always have a backup and mitigation plans that you are sure of before throwing everything you have in.

Never ever waste your time on the wrong audience; We all have constructs, bias and opinions about things and it is expected, so you should not assume everyone shares your passion and sentiments. I would have just entered my bank and politely state my issue to the the customer service; maybe telling him/her to check my account and thereafter explaining my dilemma and ultimately asking for 50 Naira won’t be a bad idea and I am sure many of you can think of other simple ways. Make sure you are speaking to those that understand you enough to help, if not you might have to hustle very hard to make them look at your direction. Getting investors should not be left to pity, speak informed and liberal investors.

Some things just happen; Ultimately, we cannot deduce every step of our journey, there are just things we cannot control. The conductor might have well told me to enter and not to worry, the ATM might have dispensed the cash; call this fate, life, chance , mood, favour or even luck. This is why I plan my journey with God.

Christianity EtcRe: What Was Actually The Forbidden Fruit In The Garden Of Eden?fruit Or Fornication by lufemi(m): 3:50am On Mar 09, 2015
Please before crucifying me, this is my opinion on the matter.
I believe that it was Sex because:
1. It was named the tree of the knowledge of good and evil at thesame time;I think Sex is still the only thing that remains good and evil at thesame time. It is also the only sin committed against one's soul and body (1st cor 6 vs. 18, 1st peter 2 vs 11)
2. Jesus had to come without sexual intercourse and also had none even through marriage to be a perfect sacrifice for our sins and so he was born without sin, neither did he commit any, so he gave us back the life we lost in the garden of eden (1st cor.15 vs.45). Remember God told them they shall die(Gen 2 vs.17) but it is more of a spiritual death than physical
3. God cursed Woman through the pain of childbirth, why not through any other means?(Gen 3 vs 16)
4. The first thing they noticed was their unclothedness, why not any other thing?(Gen 3 vs 6-7)

Overall, the most essential thing is to love God, either its fruit or sex, it does not matter. What matters is doing good and making heaven.

BusinessHow To Be Your Best In Business Without Fear Or Sentiments by lufemi(op): 4:20am On Nov 01, 2014
So in my first semester in 500 level, I soaked my clothes in the laundry room and went into my room only to come back and meet my clothes on the floor and a part was soaked into a much smaller bucket. I borrowed the two buckets I was using so I decided to look for it. My hall is a three(3) storey with Seven (7) wings so I moved from one wing to the other checking the twenty eight (28) floors and suddenly, I saw these buckets at a laundry room with clothes inside well soaked, out of anger I poured the clothes on the floor and walking back to my floor with my shoulders high. I was ready to see the demon that will stop me and eventually no one did.

On my way back I was going to my floor and met this big guy in my course, I told him about my ordeal and this time a ton of my folks were around. They were very angry believing if the person is not in our level, must be below us and so my big friend pumped my ego saying throwing the clothes to the ground was not enough, we should seize them. Again we started the journey back to the floor and I saw my my friend’s confidence reducing as we got closer to the floor and getting there we picked up the cloth and realized the size was XXXL!!!, someone just shouted my friend’s name and asked “Na you pour bright (not real name) clothes for floor?” and my guy just gave a flimsy excuse and told me to move. While hurrying back to our own floor I asked what was wrong and he told me the guy was one of the lords on the ground, he has been in school for close to nine years and very ill tempered. That was it! I almost could not wash my clothes again and even started thinking of how to calm him down if he descends on me. I was not bothered about this before I knew who he was and suddenly I could not stop thinking of the trouble I had created. Ideally I was right but my knowledge has moved my thought from justice to sentiment.

There is something about knowledge, it gives the right or wrong education. I have come to realize that the more we know most times the little we try to change the status quo. Apparently “research” has proved that it is not possible. We are getting educated for the wrong reasons. Knowledge was built to empower us in business not decrease our morale. Do not allow people to keep talking you off the things you have in your mind. What are you planning for so long? Get yourself used to the morals and positive side of stories and stop looking at their complications. Remember that all businesses are built by ordinary men. Ordinary men achieve extra-ordinary feats by transforming extra-ordinary ideas into big ventures and so they become legends. Legends are not born they are made.

Stop listening to the negative stories if you are not learning from it. Build your business with positive energy and never walk in anyone’s shadows. I understood from a friend that if you build your business with your unique dream, you should have no competition.

I am ending with me, I am learning everyday to keep trying, to learn from my negative stories and to build from other stories about me a solid brand. I strive to see the birth of my works daily and I rejoice in the liberation of others when I see they have a better understanding of theirs. There is enough job to go round, you have not just created it yet.

BusinessArchitects Of Our Economic Structure by lufemi(op): 5:16pm On Jun 06, 2013
“To the ancient Babylonians, it must have sounded like a wonderful idea. ‘Let us build us a city and a tower, whose top may reach unto heaven; and let us make us a name, lest we be scattered abroad upon the face of the whole earth.’ At least that’s how the Book of Genesis tells the story. The construction started well: the builders had plenty of brick, mortar and laborers. What they didn’t count on was the wrath of the Lord
. Outraged by the ambitions of the early engineers, the Almighty killed the project by forcing the workers to speak in different languages. The Tower of Babel became the first in a long line of marvelous structures that, for one reason or another, were never built."

By MARK ALPERT, Winter 1999 by Scientific American, Inc.

What must I consider to build my business?

I saw this really gigantic structure and it was really beautiful, I couldn’t count the floor but at least should be more than twelve stories. If you remember sir, this building did not drop there one day.It started from a dreamer who wants to build this building ( business in our case) then to feasibility studies; how relevant this building is and the location that suits it better then we plan to see what we have longed to see. Gradually we see this dream becoming a reality.

Embrace the lessons from hardship to build a strong business structure.

I once asked a builder what makes his building strong , he told me, rain would have to beat it and the sun shine strongly for its block to be strong; your business will suffer the rain and sunshine to become strong. My friend the depth of the foundation determine the height of the building; again for you to build above mediocrity, you cannot afford to give it a common foundation. It must be more refined in terms of research, skill, order, art, goodwill, excellence and passion amongst many others. Do not forget also that the texture of the ground determines how your building stands against the weather. Build a solid foundation for a solid structure. No one really notices a building at the foundation level until it becomes a full structure so expect the least from people at this stage.

What makes the best of buildings then?

We may, without offending any laws of good taste, require of an architect, as we do of a novelist, that he should be not only correct, but entertaining.

John Ruskin (1819 – 1900);

British art critic, writer, and reformer.

Stones of Venice

The greatest buildings in the world met a general requirement of standards but all over it is written the art and genius of its architect (the business owner being the architect in this case). What makes the building most beautiful is the light and the painting. You have to make a beauty of the knowledge of people working with you(knowledge is light to your business), enhance in knowlege to beautify your structure with light. Your knowlege in your field attracts people to you or to put it in Thomas Fuller’s statement in The Holy State and the Profane State, “Of Building”,

Light (God’s eldest daughter) is a principal beauty in building.

I will say about painting, that you should paint this your building with ingenuity of personal creativity; to rise above mediocrity, remember that you are the architect of this your business structure, they are following your specifications let me add this therefore by John Ruskin again on his Lecture on Architecture and Painting

No person who is not a great sculptor or painter can be an architect. If he is not a sculptor or painter, he can only be a builder.

I guess we thought of the same thing, the average businessman is a builder, to rise above mediocrity, you must be an architect.

Remember today that these buildings are also products of your thoughts so as not to end up like the Babylonians of babel, make your goals reasonable, do not raise business that inconveniences life itself, remember that it is the little things you do that earn you a great business; do your business with your conscience. If it doesn’t seem right or legal to your, its either you drop it or enquire properly. To make your great business structure, help your community, save a boy from starving, let them love your methods. You might never know if the boy will be your greatest asset later. Do not use your big business stature to intimidate the masses that cannot speak for themselves. These are the factors that makes the most excellent personalities and businesses of all times.

“It is not the sense of height, or breadth or length or depth that is stirred, but the sense of immensity…After seeing the pyramid, all other architecture seems but pastry.

Herman Melville (1819 – 1891)

U.S. novelist.Referring to visiting the pyramids at Giza
