PheemyS:Please verify before answering... They don't run on service pack zero, but surely works on win7 sp1 and Win 8.1 @op ignore the IE error, you should be able to continue installation without it |
The idea of learning via console is to *kiss, in my own view it doesn't make much *difference at least if you are learning from an experienced programmer Keep it straight and simple |
You need to parse your values to a string type... Label, textbox etc can only have a string value... Hope you get the idea? |
If you can solve this on paper, hook me up on whatsapp with 08030441069 |
I've got something challenging and interesting.... LET BUILD A COMPILER |

this is the continuation of my Article Today, i will be talking about the CORE CONCEPTS of programming languages as i mentioned yesterday... computer programming is basically about manipulating data(the quantities, characters, or symbols on which operations are performed by a computer, which may be stored and transmitted in the form of electrical signals and recorded on magnetic, optical, or mechanical recording media.) now, let look at the types of Data... 1,4,70 >>>> integer (numbers) A,D,H >>>> character (single letter) BOY, GIRL, How, TH >>>>> string (two or more letters) 10.5, 9.6 >>>>> float (non-whole numbers) Yes, NO >>>>> Boolean there are other types, but these are the basic ones you will be needing as a beginner ![]() i will take a break for now... see ya later in the evening ..... VARIABLE |
i will be writing on this topic for the next couple of days.... my intention of this article is to correct the negative impressions about computer programming, stimulate and inspire new mind. And to put those already in the journey on the right track. Computer Programming Language (CPL) like C, C++, C#, JAVA, PYTHON, RUBY etc is very similar to Human Interface Language (HIL) like ENGLISH, FRENCH, HAUSA, YORUBA, IGBO etc... Learning HIL is mostly for a purpose, such as to impress ones girlfriend/boyfriend, do business, for entertainment etc ..liken this idea to learning CPL, do you want to go into Game, business app, mobile app, web etc... Although, some CPL are more popular and mostly used than others while some are simpler to learn. but you wouldn't learn french because of it popularity or simplicity of learning to do business with a yoruba man (doesn't go well. right?? )....The mathematics of Gravitational Force (Physics) is the same anywhere in the world, but it can be explained in any HIL. Generally, Computer programming have standards and principles. Understanding this principles is very important. once you have a grasp of these principles, implementing it using any CPL will be an easy task.... well this is where i will be stopping today... i promise by the time i'm through, you should love programming like men love S*X ![]() LIKE & MAKE COMMENT ![]() SUMMARY.... choose a technology to go with (Microsoft, Unix, web, mobile etc) choose a language that will fulfill your purpose(Java if you are going for android, html if you are going for web ....etc) guess you know the rest... ![]() |
Can u please classify the following as either numeric variable, string variable or invalid variable;HOD(with a dollar sign after the D),AGE,N1,2BOOKS,VAT RATE,SELL(with dollar sign in front of S),PETS,DATA,EYE2EYE(dollar sign in front of the last E),B-SHOW...thanksHOD$ = invalid ($ invalid character) AGE = numeric (valid) N1 = string (valid) 2BOOKS = invalid (shouldn't start with number) VAT RATE = invalid (cant have a space between) S$ELL = invalid ($ invalid character ) PETS = string (valid) DATA = invalid (its a reserved word) EYE2EYE$ = invalid ($ invalid character ) B-SHOW = invalid (should have used Underscore (- invalid character )) this info is late but hope it will help others to learn much love ![]() |

On my quick scan, one of your curly bracket is missing. If you are using a good IDE, it should give you an indication |
Hmm... This question sounds rather interesting. Any language is good enough to start with. In my own strong opinion, I think you need to ask yourself some questions. The answers to these questions should guide you rightly to the programming language you should learn. And I also believe you should understand the general idea behind programming before settling down to coding. Some of the questions that I can think of quickly are: What is your level of education (not schooling please) What technology are you planning to focus on ...... |
Have you created your database? What version of vb.net? You can hook me up on whatsapp with 080xxxxxxxx I will be glad to help you and also share the video walk through I shall make for you |
@tungstar Work already in progress. Do you have any language preference?? |
I am hoping to write books and make video tutorials for my dear fellow Nigerians so that we can step up our game and have a place in the map of programming. So, I would like you all to make contributions to this whole new adventure, tell us what the challenges you have been facing and if possible suggest ways you feel will make things better and easier. Much love. here are some of the sample of what we are upto http://www.screencast.com/t/EXovrCx3Gpj7 http://www.screencast.com/t/hBFIq1KE1FH http://www.screencast.com/t/IDjo7dQ8g |
