Welcome to the thread!

Crochet basics are quite easy, and you can either follow the written instructions or illustrated patterns...

I had not done crochet in years and when i did, i gave myself a project- baby blanket and booties for a friend..... to practise what i had learnt and also give myself a deadline.

See images below:
P.s its not as hard as it looks. This is a join as you go pattern with he last round of each motif being used to join the blankets together and the gaps being filled in.

Looking forward to seeing your progress.

Oh! Almost forgot to add: For the bunnies- google amigurumi animals - and you will get patterns and tutorials online on stuffed crochet animals..... i have a couple i had planned to do for my baby as well..... when i finally get around to doing all her projects.

I am on cloud nine because I just received this gifts from a Facebook friend:12 hooks (2.0mm,3.0mm and 5.5mm aluminum hooks together with 3.5mm, 4.0mm, 4.5mm, 5.0mm, 5.5mm, 6.0mm, 6.5mm, 7.0mm and 8.0mm) , 1 darning needle and 4 stitch counters.

Sooo my people i just discovered that bigger hooks are closer than we think.
Yestd i decided to google how to carve crochet hooks.
In one of d videos i watched on YouTube, d lady carved one from a pencil and mentioned dat u can also carve from an old toothbrush .
Na so i run go bathroom go carry all d old toothbrush i have been keeping for hair, start to carve o.
D end result is a 5mm crochet hook attached below

how do we go about it.
i once thought of getting a white yarn n
then give them to people into tye & dye( adire)
maybe they can dye the yarn into diff
color pattern.

is it possible to have a good result with that

hi spiritualgal, i had same issues when i
started also. ynnk adviced i should pull
out the other end of the yarn by dipping
your finger into the center of the yarn.

it really helped with the small needle i started
with then.

I'm making squares for a solid granny square blanket and planning my next lace blanket.

I want to make a simple bag for a friend. Our made in Nigeria acrylic doesn't have the stiffness of a 100% cotton yarn that the pattern needs. Has anyone tried a bag? What materials did you use?

From time to time I experiment with various fibres. I've used t-shirt yarn, plastic yarn, embroidery thread, nylon fishing twine (its usually white and comes in cones), even soft wire to crochet jewelry?

How about you?

I started loom knitting in 2009. It's far easier and faster than the regular knitting.
There are numerous YouTube tutorials on how to get started.

You could make yours just like BobiJoe carves hooks.
