Hello all, I appreciate the good work you all doing on this forum. I am in a situation where i would need advise on what to do next. I recently applied for Victoria State Sponsorship for the second time and got rejected. Nominated occupation is Geologist (234411), Point 70. Want to ask what other route can I use to get state sponsorship since Geologist is under CSOL. Tasmania and Queensland both require either a family connection with the state or job offer which I dont have. With this its seems there isn't any other feasible options available.

The wait from VETASSESS is finally over. Got a positive assessment for my occupation this morning.

Pls Gurus in the house, what are the documents needed to apply for Victoria nomination (as a Geologist want to apply for subclass 190 visa )

bellong:
He can get a positive assessment depending on where he studied his geology. OAU is a four year geology degree and I got a positive assessment.

I think they have some selected universities that they treat their four year degree to be equivalent to an Australian bachelor degree.
@bellong, do u know if UI is among the selected universities?

This is goodnews people! Saskatchewan has reopened their Occupation-in-Demand PNP for an extra 1000 people. Check the site and click on Application Guide, scroll to the end of the application guide to see the list of occupation if yours is there. Wish us the best.

http://economy.gov.sk.ca/immigration/occupations-in-demand
What if my occupation (Geologist) is not among the list, is it advisable to still apply?
TravelRe: General Australian student Visa Enquiries Part 2 by lumzy1(m): 4:43pm On Sep 07, 2015
Yes im interested in VIC 190. I also qualify for VIC 189 from my calculation (im not sure how easy it is to get that). Based on my research Tasmania and Western Australia have geologist on their list, what do you think abt these regions. Im single and I have done IELTS, i score the required band score of 7 through out.
What is the next step while awaiting the assessment result?

mjlbabajide:
Nice to hear a fellow geologist is in the house. Are you also interested in the VIC 190 Nomination or NSW 489 Orana region nomination.

Are going alone or with family? well i hope u've done PTE or ielts already

Ontario is open at the moment but they won't take you because you need to score a minimum of 400 to be considered. Alberta would have been your best get as that's where the oil is and seeing as you're a Geologist however due to the slump in oil prices it's uncertain if they'll open nominations soon. I think Saskatchewan is still open but I'm not too sure. Check out the link below, it's very helpful.

http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/immigrate/provincial/apply-who.asp
Thanks Zandora, I checked Saskatchewan PNP and discovered they didn't list Geologist as one of the in-demand occupation. Apart from the two provinces. which other options do I have for increasing my CRS.

Hello Everyone,

I submitted my application into the express entry pool last week and my overall CRS is 384. I would want to ask for advice on what I can do to further increase my score. I am a Petroleum Geologist by profession with five years experience in upstream industry. Which province is open at the moment that accept geologist or which will open soon? Thank you

The implication is that you should be prepared to pay so much money for school fees if you wanna go via school. Also, from what I've been seeing recently, seem getting a PR is easier via migration programmed like EE than wanting to use school to stay back there, the kind of visa you get after school is post graduate work permit which won't afford you access to what a permanent resident will enjoy. It also usually have expiry date and like a friend of mine, he had to register and paid like 6kdollars for another programme so he can keep extending the visa. Infact, seem it's harder for those who are already there to convert even via express entry, than those applying from outside Canada. If your goal of entering Canada is to later settle there, I may suggest you follow EE through and through cuz, even if you want to school there as a permanent resident, you pay same school fees as an home student however, I won't also discourage you from trying school but be ready to pay. Finally, there's not gonna be any clash or suspicion from the Canadian authorities, they are two separate stuffs and you won't penalized for anything I believe. For school, you apply through Canadian embassy in Nigeria but for migration, it goes to Ghana

[quote author=deoyel25 post=31984011]Hello all,
I just started following this thread again yesterday. Even though I have done my WES and IELTS since last year, I decided to wait for the EE instead of FSWP. I just created my EE profile yesterday and I started swimming in the pool few minutes afterwards. I have been encouraged by all the contributors to this thread and I also want to render the little help I can. I have a very good IELTS material (which I used myself). Its The Official Cambridge Guide to IELTS Student's Book with Answers. All the audios for the listening tests and 17 sample videos from live speaking tests are included. You can PM me if you need the materials and I will send you the download link (1GB approximately). Its now your duty to find a way of downloading it. Cheers and goodluck to all.

Pls help send the IELTS materials to my mail: kayodemm2000@yahoo.com. thanks

Hello All,

I want to know the best way to go about processing my ECA. I will be completing my M.Sc. latest by June and will write my IELTS in April. Is it advisable to process my B.Sc. cert assessment now and apply again for assessment when my M.Sc. degree is available (im not sure how soon my M.Sc cert will be ready).
I will also appreciate if I can get preparatory materials for IELTS, my email is geolumide@yahoo.com.

Thanks
