I will never judge a defender if he is faced with an attacker 1v1. Rather it's the cover (Gabriel M). What Mbeumo did was simple, aim at Cala blind side. That blind side was where GM should be.
Mbeumo was always going to cut in and shoot. You would be lucky to block the shut. If GM was where Mbeumo was going to cut in, he would have had no option than to go wide.

No way a CB will stay at the blind spot. That is for the left back to cover.
The CB and keepers then keeps out the larger space. The CB is to provide cover (blocking) i.e short cover while keeper prevent the rest.

White knows when to overlap for Saka either for a pass to cross or to serve as decoy to.give Saka space to move into the opponents box.

Timber defensively is very good.

Honestly, I’m still wondering why Arsenal haven’t referred Martinelli to see the clubs’ psychologist.

He obviously have a problem. He freezes and goes blank anytime he is the 18 yard box. It was very evident in that Liverpool match, as soon as he gets into the 18 yard box and sees Konate, he becomes scared. It’s the same feeling he has when facing the goal keeper in ‘one on one’ situations.

That Sallah goal pain me, as long as we want to blame Martinelli, the defenders too no try. Timber and Gabu will never allow him that space.

But Kiwior, that one, once his wife just give him lap dance before match like this, he go come field Dey play nonsense. One of the side effect of marrying an erotic dancer 🤣 Baba go marry stripper wey they make am no reach his full potential 😂.

He has the height and physique of a good defender but he isn’t taking advantage of it, probably the bench don affect his mentality.

I was out at a function yesterday but was able to follow the match at intervals on DSTV mobile .

From the little I was able to watch , we didn’t play badly as I had thought prior to the match . Saka coming back was a major boost for us .

Merino seem to be catching up with the pace of the EPL bar for that loose ball he gave away that Salah couldn’t score .

White didn’t do bad in the absence of Saliba at all, it’s just unfortunate Gabriel had to join our ever growing injury list . Timber too gave account of himself in that left back and Salah was almost invisible for most part of the game .

I hope as we are expecting Arteta to give the youth a chance , we also understand why he’s been skeptical about thrusting those youngings into key matches . Skalley came on vs Man city and Loserpool at 2-1 and both matches ended at 2-2 with both opponents working his side of the pitch to get the equalizing goals.

NB: I’m not saying he shouldn’t give the youth a chance , but I can relate to why he’s been skeptical about doing that .

I think Arteta made a huge mistake keeping Jesus and selling Nketiah instead . Also relying on Havertz alone as our top man upfront is not a wise decision at all.

Most people criticized Arteta for starting Partey at RB but ended up praising Partey for his performance in that same RB yesterday . It just shows that a coach may be right at times and may also be wrong at other times . We don’t need to rubbish a coach completely before seeing the rationale behind his decisions .

As for Martinelli , I don’t even know the solution to his problem at all
