Yobe TSB sacks, sues teacher for raping 14 year- old student
Yobe State Teaching Service Board (TSB) said it has sacked and sue the Teacher, who
allegedly raped a 14-year-old student at government girls secondary school
Ngenzalma, in Yobe State.
The Executive Chairman of the Board, Alhaji Baba-Ali Mandala dislosed in an
interview with Daily Trust on Tuesday.
The Chairman said the disciplinary action was taken to deter other teachers from
committing similar offence.
"The teacher has been disengaged and banned from getting employed anywhere in our
schools. We also instituted legal action against him in court, to allow justice take
its course," he said.
The Chairman also revealed that the girl has been taken home to overcome the trauma
she passes through before taking her back to school.
"Even at that, we will assess her situation, if she is comfortable with school. If
not, our next plan was taking her to another school to avoid stigmatization," he
said.
Recalled that Daily trust reported the case of Teacher, Saleh Abubakar
allegedly lured the student into the schools Chemistry laboratory and raped her.

Promote Principal to rank of Ministerial Secretaries for punctuality -Promotion

Gov. Kashim Shettima has promoted Hajjiya Falmata Alhaji Bukar, the Principal of Yerwa Government Girls School to rank of Ministerial Secretary for her punctuality and consciousness on her duty.

The promotion came when the Governor visited the school as early as 7:30am on Tuesday morning where he found the Principal and majority of teachers in the school fully on ground discharging their duties.

Impressed by enthusiasm of the students towards learning, the Governor directed that the school should be provided with furnitures and food stuffs such as semovita, beans, yam, sweet potato and fish to further enhance their performance.

"I am happy to meet you on ground, you are a conscientious worker and I am mightily proud of you but we have to improve their (students) feeding at whatsoever cost," Shettima said.

While in the school, he visited students in their classes, the school kitchen, hostels and other school facilities with a view of improving them to meet the required standard.

Other places visited by Governor this morning include New GRA Islamiyya school, Jajeri Primary and Junior secondary school, Maryam Sani Abatcha women and children hospital and the Baga Road V.I.O office where he inspected some drainage construction and street beautification facilities.

Governor Yahaya Bello of Kogi state has been admitted in a hospital in Germany for eye surgery despite claims by the state government that he is hale and healthy, The Punch reports.
According to the report, Bello was in Dubai en route to Germany for the operation as he is expected to correct an eye ailment that had been troubling him for some time.
However, it was gathered that Bello could not wait for a formal handing over to his deputy, Simon Achuba.

The governor also did not officially notify the state House of Assembly of his foreign trip, contrary to laid down regulations.

President Muhammadu Buhari has said that economic recession is not limited to Nigeria as the situation is far worse in other countries.

The president also stated that the current economic crisis in the nation was not the making of his government, but a consequence of mismanagement in the past decades.

Buhari was speaking at the Aso Rock Presidential Villa in Abuja on Thursday at the presidential parley with the Senior Executive Course No. 38 of the National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies, Kuru.

He said: "In the last one and half years of this administration, the economy has experienced some tough times, particularly with the decline in oil revenues, which has some harsh impacts on Nigerians at the grassroots. It is also important to note that the economic recession is not the making of this administration, but rather a consequence of bad management of the economy in the past couple of decades. Nor is recession limited to Nigeria – there are far, far worse cases than Nigeria."

The president, however, said that whatever the scale of the problem, the important thing is how one tackles it.

He said his administration was therefore committed to finding lasting solutions to the nation's economic structural imbalance.

He asked the citizens to have faith in the country that "we will come out of this recession vibrant and strong.
