Politics30billion Naira Humanitarian Ministry Looted Funds Recovered By EFCC by Macbenzo(op): 1:46pm On Feb 04, 2024
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission has recovered over N30bn from the N37,170, 855,753.44 allegedly laundered in the Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs under the former minister, Sadiya Umar-Farouk.

Sources in the anti-graft agency, who spoke with our correspondent on Friday, said the commission had also uncovered over N500m from the scam associated with Umar-Farouk’s successor, Betta Edu, who was recently suspended by President Bola Tinubu.

Saturday PUNCH had in December reported that N37,170,855,753.44 was transferred from government coffers and sent to 38 different bank accounts domiciled in five legacy commercial banks belonging to or connected with a contractor, James Okwete.

It was gathered on Friday that N30bn was recovered by the EFCC following the placement of a lien on the bank accounts of Umar-Farouq and Okwete, who are still being grilled by the anti-graft agency’s investigators

The agency is also still grilling Edu in connection with an alleged N17bn fraud, while the suspended Coordinator of the National Social Investment Programme, Halima Shehu, is also still being questioned over an alleged N44bn fraud.

An EFCC source revealed, “The commission has now recovered over N30bn from the laundered N37.1bn that was linked to former minister Sadiya Umar-Farouq. We were able to recover the money after we placed liens on the bank accounts of the former minister and the contractor, Mr Okwete, who was linked to the fraud under probe. Both the minister and the contractor are still being grilled by our investigators daily.”

A senior EFCC investigator added, “We have uncovered another N17bn money laundering from the Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs, and for the alleged fraud linked to the suspended minister, Betta Edu, we have so far recovered over N500m. Edu is still answering questions about the fraud.

The NSIPA coordinator, Halima Shehu, is still being grilled over the N44bn fraud linked to her at the NSIPA; our investigators aren’t leaving any stone unturned.”

EBELECHUKWU OBIANO, the controversial wife of Ex governor of Anambra State, Willie Obiano’s latest look after her most recent plastic surgery procedure in the United States of America has left many citizens in the State gasping with disbelief at her ridiculous appearance and her refusal to come to terms with her aging appearance
Ebelechukwu Obiano, who turned 62 earlier this year has been pumping her face full of Botox and fillers to cure her wrinkles and this has left her once pretty face with a permanently bloated appearance.
She has also undergone plastic surgery in addition to liposuction of her thighs and waist, which created complications for her sometime in July 2021 with remedial surgery required.
The wife of the former Governor who is known for her love of blond wigs is contesting in the forthcoming senatorial elections to represent her husband’s senatorial zone of Anambra North at the National Assembly in 2023.

PoliticsSoludo Wipes Off ‘Office of the Wife Of The Governor’ In Anambra State by Macbenzo(op): 9:57pm On Mar 26, 2022
Since the day of its inauguration last week Thursday, the current administration in Anambra State, led by Prof. Chukwuma Soludo, has, expectedly, continued to work, innovate and facilitate some changes in the system of governance.

The wave of change has also, blown to the Office of the First Lady of the state, popularly known as the Office of the Wife of the Governor.

It was observed on Friday that the structure of the office, located at the left-hand side of the entrance gate of the Government House in Awka, has begun to receive the Soludo Effect, as painters were seen, cleaning off the inscription “Office of Wife of the Governor” boldly written on the building.

As at the time of the press, the cynosural building currently stands with its former inscription completely erased and it’s former workers assigned to other ministries in the state, heralding the abolishment of the Office of the Wife of the Governor, by the current administration.

Some of the passersby who witnessed the annihilation process tagged it one of Governor Soludo's strategy towards cutting down spendings and cost of governance, as well as actualising his resolve and promise on prudent management of the state's resources.

Recall that the Office was in existence and in operation throughout the last eight years of Governor Willie Obiano's administration, as was boldly occupied by the immediate-past First Lady of the state, Dr. Mrs. Ebelechukwu Obiano, with its own funding mechanism and impacts.

The building was, however, not designated as the Office of the Wife of the Governor during the administrations of former Governors Chris Ngige and Peter Obi, until the arrival of Chief Willie Obiano who assigned it to his wife who designated it as such.

Speculations therefore abound that the current administration of Prof. Chukwuma Soludo may not tow his predecessor’s footsteps as he made no mention of First Lady or Governor's Wife in his Inaugural Address last week Thursday.

It is, however, at this time, still sketchy what the building would be used for by this current administration.

PoliticsEbele Obiano Bows To Pressure, Tenders Apology For Attacking Bianca Ojukwu by Macbenzo(op): 5:39pm On Mar 24, 2022
Ebele Obiano, the former First Lady of Anambra State, has tendered an unreserved apology following the incident between her and Bianca Ojukwu, a chieftain of the All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA, during the swearing-in of Governor Charles Soludo.

Naija News earlier reported that Ebele and Bianca engaged in a physical altercation during Soludo’s swearing in last week.

According to viral videos on social media, Bianca slapped Ebele, who had allegedly attacked her while the swearing ceremony was ongoing.

In a statement on Thursday, Ebele stated that there was no justification for the public embarrassment that happened on the day.

“Those who know me can testify that before and throughout my eight years as the First Lady of State, I pursued peace, promoted philanthropic gestures which empowered many of our less privileged people. No excuse can therefore be tenable as justification for such public embarrassment, no matter the height of provocation.

“Equally, I wish to extend the same apology to all the important dignitaries, the people of Anambra State, as well as the entire Ndigbo for that unintended embarrassment at the occasion,” she was quoted by Punch as saying.

It is to be recalled that the Obi of Awka Kingdom where the incident occurred at the swearing in of Prof Charles Soludo had considered Ebele’s attack on the wife of the revered igbo icon Ojukwu, a sacrilege which had offended the soil of Awka .

He had equally given Ebele 7 days to apologize or face the wrath of the gods of the land.

The former First Lady who did not wish to be confronted with dire consequences emanating from her actions tendered a public apology today.

CelebritiesREVEALED! Minister Geoffrey Onyeama’s First Wife Is Bianca Ojukwu’s Elder Sister by Macbenzo(op): 4:56pm On Apr 24, 2020
The Ripples generated by Foreign Affairs Minister, Geoffrey Onyeama’s tribute to deceased COS to President Buhari, ABBA Kyari have not abated. The latest is that the people of Enugu State are displeased with their representative in Buhari’s cabinet, over his distortion of certain historical facts surrounding his personal life, and the fact that they are of the opinion that he is keen to dilute his Igbo antecedents by being economical with the full facts surrounding his marriage history.
Onyeama had claimed in his tribute to ABBA Kyari, that the latter who was a Muslim was best man at his wedding and godfather to his first child at a catholic baptism ceremony.

Geoffrey Onyeama has always only stated that he only married once, and to a Yoruba lady. He portrayed this at the floor of the Nigerian Senate during his Senate confirmation screening and again in his tribute to the late Abba Kyari.

One of the most closely guarded secrets, however is that Mr Geoffrey Onyeama is twice married, and his first wife Nuzo Sandra Onoh is none other than the second daughter of Chief C.C. Onoh, former governor of the old Anambra State, and the man who fought fiercely for the creation of Enugu State, that Onyeama is now representing at Abuja. She is also the elder sister of Former beauty queen and Nigeria’s Ambassador to Spain, Bianca Ojukwu.

The young Geoffrey Onyeama and Miss Nuzo Sandra Onoh got married at an elaborate Wedding ceremony in Enugu in 1985 after both of them returned to Nigeria from their education in the UK. It was hailed at the time, as a dynastic union between the two most prominent families of the state, Onoh and Onyeama families. Geoffrey Onyeama’s father was the renowned Justice Daddy Onyeama, the first black judge at the World Court at The Hague. Fortuitously, the mother of the bride and former First Lady Of the state, Chief Mrs Carol Onoh also hailed from the same village as Geoffrey Onyeama being Eke in Udi LGA.

The newly married couple left shortly for Geneva, Switzerland where Geoffrey took up a United Nations appointment. The couple were married for several years, and their union produced a daughter Candice Onyeama, his first child, who is an actress and film director who resides with her mother Nuzo in the UK.
It is claimed that Onyeama and his first wife, Nuzo and daughter as well as both families remain in the best of terms, and that he was even present to perform the traditional rites of an inlaw at the funeral ceremony of his first wife’s mother and former First Lady Chief Mrs Carol Onoh in 2016.

Meanwhile, Geoffrey’s first wife, Nuzo Sandra Onoh , also a lawyer is now a bestselling author in the UK, specializing in the genre of African Horror fiction and writes under the pen name of Cambridge Onoh. She is an editor and publisher at Canaan- Star Publishing, UK, and her books include Unhallowed Graves, Anything for Money, The Reluctant Dead, and several others.

Onyeama has in the past few days, come under attack by critics both from core Catholics who have debated the validity of the said baptism of his son under catholic baptism canon law and others who claim that he is doing everything possible to pander to certain interests by promoting personal narratives that are designed to dilute both his cultural and religious antecedents.
