Nasreports77: NANS MOBILIZES STUDENTS ON NATIONWIDE PROTEST AS IT MARKS INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS DAY WITH REGRETS
DECRIES THE ABDUCTION OF 17 ABU ZARIA STUDENTS BY BANDITS AND REJECTS THE INCREASE IN PRICE OF PMS (FUEL)
By Ikpontu G.N
The National Association of Nigeria Students(NANS) has expressed the undeserved unhappiness of Nigerian Students as it joins the world to mark the 2020 International Student's Day. The National body of Students under the leadership of Comrade Chidi Ilogebe has challenged ASUU and FG to immediately respond to the undying requirements of Nigerian Students in several areas of critical concerns, as it commence mobilisation of students for a nationwide protest, scheduled for 24th November 2020. This was stated in a press release signed by the President of NANS, Comrade Chidi Ilogebe, GCNS, few hours ago.
In the statement, Comrade Chidi Ilogebe charged all Student structures across the nation, including SUG, JCC, Zonal leaderships, all affiliate/sister unions NAUS, NAPS, NANCES and ANFS to immediately commence mobilisation of Students ahead of the nationwide protest. According to the statement, the protest is aimed at challenging the federal government and ASUU on the devastating situations faced by Nigerian Students, with emphasis on welfarism and security.
The statement further noted that, the celebration of 2020 International Student's Day in Nigeria was a moment to reflect on the past and present, with considerable efforts to proffer possible solutions towards improving the educational system of the Country. He stated that the intended joyous mode had been interrupted by the same system that ought to put smiles on the faces of students before, during and after this historic day.
The statement therefore recalled the regretful abduction of students of Ahmadu Bello University Zaria, along Kaduna-Abuja Express way few days ago, as it calls on Federal Government to prioritize improvement in the welfare and security of Nigerians, especially around towns or cities where academic campuses are situated. Comrade Ilogebe had also in the press statement condemned and rejected the recent increase in the pump price of premium motor spirit (PMS) and electricity tariff, stressing that it was a deliberate act to provoke citizens.
The National Association of Nigeria Students further called on the immediate and irrevocable opening of university Campuses, as it presents a reminder to FG and ASUU on the 14days ultimatum, which will elapse on 23rd November 2020. NANS however seeked the steadfastness, commitment and support of relevant stakeholders, security agencies and members of the association ahead of the forthcoming NANS election, holding from 26th to 30th of November 2020. Comrade Chidi Ilogebe therefore concluded his statements on the 2020 International Student's Day by reiterating the commitment of NANS in the resolute emancipation of student's welfarism.
instead of a protest,,u guys should pray ooo...d next protests in D's country will see military entering d street...I beg u guys in d name of God....Pray for Nigeria,, don't protest
if u are a Christian,, Moslem,,Buddhist, Atheist or a Freethinker... pray for Nigeria whichever way u can... we don't want another civil war in Nigeria..pls pray
Gandollaar: So your God is going to roast 99.9% of his creation in sulphur just because they didn't or refused to know him? Can you do that to your child? How can a loving Father do that to his kids? Moreso when a total majority of mankind are already headed to your so called hell, so who go remain? Maybe you and that guy you quoted.
in d days of Noah,, d whole world was drowned,, only 8persons were saved....In d days of Lot,,a whole city was destroyed except Lot's family,, his wife was not spared wen she looked back....God has no time for a wicked generation... even if d whole world presently should perish,,He already has more than enough souls to use for d world to come
Davash222: Only a foolish and insane nonentity will vote for APC in the next general election.
Apc is not d problem,,buhari is d problem... BTW all political parties in Nigeria are d same,,Nigeria is not like America where parties have an ideology....wat I would prefer is a south east president/south south vice president come 2023
Oasis007: OBJ ruled for 8yrs. He came to power after Years of Military Rules. He clipped Wings of Cabals in the Military for Democracy to live beyond a Term since Independence and he succeeds.
GEJ ruled for 6yrs. He's from Southern Part as OBJ. He's from South South where Crude Oil are being drilled to fuelling the Economy of the Country.
Why didn't he restructure Nigeria?! Some of you are quick at blaming Everything on either OBJ or Tinubu - why?!
GEJ was fortunate to be president after yaradua's death...and his boss had 7point agenda wch he had to follow to some extent and u can't be expecting him to restructure... besides,,northern powers were on him,,so he couldn't even do much for his own state rather he concentrated more on d North thinking it will favour him for a 2nd term,,unfortunately he couldn't return.. maybe he would have set d pace for restructuring in his 2nd term... so dat leaves us with only OBJ as d man who would have restructured,, instead he went about privatisation policy... Instead of privatization,,, he should have restructured,, dat would have been d way forward for Nigeria... wat do we have today? all privatised Institutions are failing,,, our refineries are not working and Atiku was still thinking of selling it instead of dem handing it over to states or regions and see wat can come out.... I still blame OBJ
Coldie: That is why regionalism stopped existing, so that Nigeria will belong to all of us.
That is why regionalism can never come back
how has Nigeria belonging to all of us helped us... it only makes us to be nomads,,seeking for greener pastures from place to place...some have to migrate to abuja,,Lagos or PH just to earn a living,, wat kind of life are we living in Nigeria... and dats d reason why Nigeria has one of d highest migrant population all over d world...There are persons living in advanced countries dat have hardly traveled out of their states or regions because all dat they need from birth to old age is available where they are,,,datz how Nigeria should be,,we don't have to be nomads
afrodoc2: So Zamfara State can mine their gold but South-South states can't drill their oil.
This country's engine don knock tey tey.
D's country sha...wen I sit and think of d injustice going on in D's country ehn,,I just regret being a Nigerian...well,,I blame obj for all d woes going on in D's country today...d man had d knife and yam to restructure D's country and set D's country on d right path,,but baba and all his subjects kept playing politricks...na d politricks we still dey till now...unfortunately till 2023 b4 anything may happen to Savage D's country... God help us
WoundedLamb: What exactly are you saying, is restructuring into regional resource management not a "proper management of resources"? Why making it look as if it's something else entirely. In a situation where different regions are saying they aren't getting as much attention from the center as they deserve, a new structure needs to be put in place to address that. That process is called restructuring. We can then go ahead to discuss the nitty gritties of the new structure.
You are educated, don't let these politicians play word tricks on you.
d way some people thinks puts Nigeria in a bigger problem... I have said D's too ...if d restructuring is properly done, there won't be marginalization..d kind of restructuring Nigeria needs now is regional based..d 36 states of Nigeria can be collapsed into our 6 geopolitical zones... which means d representation at d federal level should be collapsed into d regional structure.. dat time a Governor of a region will be a mini president,,while d head of each state under a region will be d office of d deputy to d regional Governor,,so one one regional Governor will have several deputies from each state,,our house of rep can become regional,,while each state will retain their house of Assembly structure.. at d federal level there would be just one legislative chamber(d senate)
IamWonderful: Very correct, if there is effective management of the available resources, restructuring will be useless, most state don't have much IGR to sustain a state, some will be malnourished and some will be well developed
u fail to understand something,,we can develop a restructured Nigeria in such a way dat individual states will not suffer...if d restructuring is properly done, there won't be marginalization..d kind of restructuring Nigeria needs now is regional based..d 36 states of Nigeria can be collapsed into our 6 geopolitical zones... which means d representation at d federal level should be collapsed into d regional structure.. dat time a Governor of a region will be a mini president,,while d head of each state under a region will be d office of d deputy to d regional Governor,,so one one regional Governor will have several deputies from each state,,and there would house of rep and house of Assembly structure in each region to create more representation... at d federal level there would be just one legislative chamber(d senate),,,so how would there be marginalization? dat system will just too fluid
